Expensive stay for me and my friends. Originally booked and 12 days before the stay had a major life event occur but as they have a 14 day cancelation policy they would not let me cancel for even a partial refund despite my extremely valid reason. I ended up coming because I didn't want to pay almost $1000 for nothing. Once in the room they brought all our bags from the ferry but "couldn't find one. " It was over an hour later when they finally found it. That night we had music playing a bit loudly I admit. An employee walked up to our first floor balcony and rudely told us to turn it down which we did immediately and apologized. We then went inside and not 5 min later they knocked on our door saying we were so loud they could hear us at the front desk. This was not true as we had just been talked to and were purposely trying to be quiet. The room is literally against the waiting line for sheplers ferry which makes it unbearably loud in the room for this reason. See attached pics. The employee was aggressive and was escalating the situation to the point that one of my friends had to come to the door behind me and closed it because the employee was acting completely unhinged despite me remaining calm. Then the following day we were threatened with a fee for smoking because someone reported "smelling smoke." We don't smoke. At the time there was someone in the sheplers line smoking 10 ft from our balcony so I took a picture which I've also attached to this review. The behavior of the employees is unprofessional and should be addressed. They shouldn't harass paying guests without proof they are breaking the rules. Horrible, traumatic experience from the get go before even arriving. I personally will never stay here again and would not recommend it especially if it's in the 1st floor rooms in bicycle...
Read moreAbout this time one year ago, my fiance and I began to plan our visit to Mackinac Island (a location that has become kind of "our place" since the beginning of our relationship). We decided to stay on the island and booked a room overlooking the streets with the Waterfront Collection of Bicycle Street Inn (so that we could hear the horses trotting in the streets and people watch from above). The Inn was beautiful and newly remodeled, and on days that the weather was less than ideal (given our stay was at the end of May) it made for a very cozy retreat. Upon arrival a gentleman brought our bags from the ferry to the room, and when walking into the space we rented for the long weekend we found a bottle of wine waiting for us. The highlight of our stay, however, was Joaquin who worked at the front desk. He was always a friendly face to talk with when we passed through the entrance, and there were many times that we could enjoy visiting with him on anything from recomended locations on the island to explore/food options and even got to learn about his experience living and working on Mackinac. Joaquin remembered our names and seemed eager to answer all of our many curious questions that we approached him with. We've stayed at a lot of hotels, including a couple that are VERY well known for their guest service (such as the Kimpton line of boutique hotels) and yet none compared quite to his level of service and the overall quality of our stay at The Bicycle Street Inn. We will definitely be going o back the next time we adventure to...
Read moreWe stayed at the Bicycle Inn Waterfront Collection for a two-night stay on Mackinac Island. We had a wonderful stay here and it is located in a great location on the main street, allowing you easy access to all the shops, restaurants, and activities in town.
We followed the recommendations of the hotel and took the Shepler's ferry over to the island. This is perfect because the dock for Shepler's is right at the hotel. By the time we got off the boat and walked to the luggage claim area, one of the hotel staff had our bags and walked us to check-in, and proceeded to deliver our bags to our room.
The room was updated and very nice. The bed was comfortable with nice linens and pillows. We had a microwave and a fridge in the room which was very helpful as we had some snacks to keep in the fridge and the ability to chill our wine and beer. The bathroom was clean, and bright and was very nice. The only drawback in the room was there was no desk or space to be able to work on a computer.
When we made our reservation we got the package that included the bottle of wine. The wine was excellent and it was nice to have it there for us, it also provided us with wine glasses for the length of the stay.
The staff at the hotel were all very welcoming and service-oriented. We asked lots of questions and they always provided helpful information. The hotel has a discount at the bicycle rental location right next to the hotel which is a great way to...
