Just moved to the area and needed a haircut. I was with my last hairstylist for over 15 years so the process of finding someone new was a bit daunting. I saw that this place had good reviews and was reasonably priced so decided to give it a try.
First the good stuff. This place is very convenient in Brickell and looks cool. There are a bunch of TV's, a bar, and a generally hip vibe. The staff seem very friendly. I booked everything online which is very convenient. Pricing is great at around $47 including gratuity.
Now for the not-so-great part... My original barber who I had the booking with was running late so I was assigned to someone else. I won't mention the name because it's not the point here. Not out to get anyone in trouble. There really wasn't a lot of communication between us. The only thing that the new barber asked me was what # I wanted my sides at. I've always gone to a hairstylist who used scissors and never a shaver. I had no idea what # I was or wanted. The barber went on to give me a haircut using mostly a shaver and some scissors. Ultimately, my hair was cut too short and was not styled to fit my head or to fit my usual hair style. The whole haircut and wash took about 10min. I'm not an expert but I don't think that a good, quality haircut takes 10min.
If you're used to getting your haircut with a shaver then this is probably the right spot. Don't even hesitate to go here. If you're used to getting your haircut with scissors and a bit more care then I'm not sure this is the place. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't.
Overall - it wasn't a terrible experience.
Update 3.2023... Upgrading this review from 3 stars up to 5. I gave The Spot another try and this time booked with Enrique and had a totally different experience. Would highly recommend booking with him.
Enrique was very communicative and cared about the style I wanted. He used a combination of shaver, scissors, and even a razor blade. The haircut came out great and I'll definitely be going back to him from now on.
If you're giving The Spot a try, book your cut with Enrique and you won't be...
Read moreDo not go there if you have medium long or longer hair. They do NOT know how to CUT hair.
Good things first - the interior is great, they are fast, you can have a manicure and a drink before, or while your service.
The downside is - their barbers are not well trained and don’t seem to enjoy their job.
I went there 10 times in total, I tried 6 different barbers. 3 times they totally ruined my existing hair style, 4 times I did not like it, but okay and 3 times were good. So basically 3 out of 10.
Why: I have (had!!!) medium long hair and wanted to grow it out. It took me 8 months to get to this point. Went there yesterday. I told the guy to please do NOT touch the top, please do NOT shorten the sides and only clean up my back as I wanted to look sharp for a meeting. Then he turned my chair away from the mirror and first thing he did, using the machine, basically shaving off my sides. Worst look ever! I look like I just left the Military. Will take me 8 months to grow it back.
Another horrible experience: The 3rd or 4th time I went there, I went there in the morning. One of their barbers arrived (arrived late, his customer was already waiting) and the barber was totally high, most likely came straight from a night out. He had to fight to keep his eyes open - and of course, he ruined the customers hair. Without hesitating he used the shortest trimmer and just shaved the guys hair off. Management was there, watched, did nothing! It was OBVIOUS that the guy was intoxicated. I thought they fired the guy since then - but no, he still works there.
Summary: Great interior, great idea, fair prices, horrible cutting skills. The truth is, their barbers (and after trying 6 of them, I can say that) do not listen to what you tell them (might also be a lack of english skills) or don't know how to do it. Like robots they kind of give every customer a similar hair style - super short sides, little longer top. If you want a good CUT, do not go there! But yes, from what I saw I believe they are great for Military Style hair...
Read moreThis one is tough. Enjoyed the atmosphere, everyone in the shop was extremely kind and I really love the look and feel the shop. (Brickell) SW 10th. I just moved to the Brickell area and have been looking for a Barbershop to call home instead of continuing to Drive to Fort. Lauderdale and continue with my older barber. Just like any man I am all for a good haircut and looking as clean as possible. And the Barber at the shop provided this. I even allowed the young lady to give a manicure while I received a haircut. The experience was great.... Up until it was time for a charge. While I do appreciate the job of the Barber the haircut was nothing spectacular to where I felt a $49.99 tab should come with it. I am not one to tell someone how to run their establishment so the price is the price. But I get my haircut once a week and although I am in no way hurting for money, I can not see myself paying $50 plus tip every week for a haircut that is of the same quality of my regular barber in Fort Lauderdale. Once again it is a great shop but I do not think what is taken into consideration is that some haircuts need to be maintained more frequently than others. Good spot but the pricing in my opinion should...
