Heard good things and was excited to dine here, unfortunately I don't see myself coming back. In one sentence: the food was average and the service was below average.
When looking at the menu, my boyfriend asked if there was onion in the ginger steak, but the waiter said she didn't know and didn't offer to ask the chef. We politely asked that if there were any onions, if they could make it without. She looked annoyed, as if we were making an impossible request. Isn't it common though, for customers to ask for accommodations if they have food preferences or allergies that prevents them from eating certain things?
After we put in our order, our drinks and appetizer arrived late. When dinner was served, I took the first bite out of my pad Thai and realized that it was bland and there was barely any beef, even though I paid extra for it. I wanted to ask for salt and pepper and my boyfriend wanted another drink and a water refill, but our server didn't check in on us at all until we had already finished eating.
I don't expect perfect customer service, but it was a slow Sunday night and she walked past us several times without even looking in our direction, she essentially ignored us for the majority of the night. By the end, I felt completely unwelcome and unsatisfied and just wanted to go home.
Based on other reviews, this place seems like it's worth checking out. But my time and money is important and because I feel like I wasted both, I wish I hadn't tried...
Read moreI ordered here through DoorDash and was excited to try a new Asian food spot in my new city. Honestly, I was disappointed. I’m not knocking any stars off for it being delivered since sometimes that can ruin dishes, but this wasn’t the case. The egg rolls were still crispy when they got to me and were pretty decent. I saw a lot of hype on the dumplings but wasn’t too impressed with them. For entrees, I ordered the basil fried rice and the pad thai. First, the fried rice was pretty good. I asked for no spice since spicy rice doesn’t sound right. There was spice in the rice (lots of rhyming here lol). Although I asked for no spice and my rice was above medium spice, it still tasted fine. I would ensure there isn’t spice next time so I can taste the rice. Now, the pad Thai. I was contemplating writing what I had to say about it, but from other reviews I saw, it looks like others felt the same. I’ll make this short and sweet. It was the worst pad Thai I’ve ever had in my life. There was no flavor whatsoever, and it was very dry. The beef was almost nonexistent in the container; if it was there, it was dry, too. I don’t like my pad Thai super saucy but this had no sauce anywhere in the dish. I’ve had my fair share of pad Thai, and this is one I would avoid. I’m hoping if I do have another visit here, I’ll try something else and hopefully have a...
Read moreIf you’re on the hunt for a chill, fuss‑free spot near the downtown arena, Lucky Ginger is a solid pick. This fusion Asian restaurant—part of Milwaukee’s lively Water Street scene—has a bright, comfortable space with cream‑city brick walls and big windows overlooking the river . The front houses a cozy bar with stools, and seating toward the back gives that relaxed, intimate vibe. Overall, it’s unapologetically casual.
Now, the food. The drunken noodles hit the mark and the perfect fortifying dish for any night on the town. The pho was also a standout: fragrant star‑anise broth, beautifully textured noodles, and tender cuts of beef—authentic enough to get you saying, “this is real pho”
But the MVP of the meal? The dumplings. These house‑made gems boast thick, chewy skins with a flavorful pork filling, served with standout gingery and side sauces that elevate each bite.
Service and atmosphere add to its charm—friendly staff, bar‑vibes without pretension, and a casual, upbeat tone throughout . If you want something authentic that doesn’t feel pretentious, this is your go‑to. Just know that for to‑go orders, some reviewers mention inconsistent portion sizes—best to dine in for...
