This is a very cool tour! The only downside is that it is only 45 minutes long. There is so much history within this grave site it can not possibly be covered in that short of time. My guide was Todd, a great and highly knowledgeable dude, and he was also funny. The grave site feels small but houses a lot, and I mean a lot, of remains. I won't spoil it, you have to take the tour! One of the main "attratctions" is a tomb Nichoals Cage, yes the actor, purchased and will eventually be his final resting place. If you go during the summer months, bring water!!! It is hot!. There is a gift shop in the meeting building with plenty of sweet souvenirs. The tickets can be purchased online and are fairly cheap for the experience! For the older generations, if you remember the name Plessy from your history lessons... this will...
Read moreStopped by really hoping to see the mausoleums and tombs and was immediately turned away as soon as we stepped out of our Uber. The fact that you have to pay to have someone walk you around to the tune of $25 a person is absolutely ridiculous. I understand a donation, needing to have security, etc - but the public areas of New Orleans are for the people. The amount of locked parks, lack of resources, and broken infrastructure in this city is absolutely disappointing. And this was honestly just another locked "public" place that really shouldn't have been. So I can't technically speak for the tour, maybe they're great, but I can speak for trying to visit this PUBLIC USE PLACE and being...
Read moreI've been to the cemetery before in 2012. Apparently, in 2013, the city started "charging" to get in, limiting visits to "tour only", and closes early due to vandalism. Not sure of the accuracy, but was told this at the entrance. You must pay $20 per person to get in, and you're not allowed to stray from the tour guide. I don't like crowds, especially in cemeteries, so we didn't go. And $20 per person is a steep price - especially since you can't wander around. Maybe they should take a cue from Savannah and close early, instead of all this other nonsense. Who gets the funds? I don't know. Really disappointed. I wanted to pay homage to Marie...
