A feeling that some one cares, is always good. When you are tired and especially wish to rest, you may be looking for a place that does not only give you physical rest but also gives you some.peace of the mind.

In the time square of Manhattan, this place for you is the church of St Mary the Virgin. This is an open door church which welcomes all the persons without discriminating on their faith. Among many churches around, this church showed a gesture of humanity, the real teaching of the Jesus Christ

The interior and exterior of the church is really beutiful and you can spend the time inside with a peaceful and quite environment. However, being a prayer place, the visitors are expected to maintain a pious decorum of the place and there are some due restrictions which one is expected to follow when you are in. I suggest all to take an advantage of the place when you are at times square...

I love this Church. I worked in the Times Square area and would frequent this church during lunch. I spent time praying and lighting candles in their separated rooms within the church. It’s was so peaceful, I always felt closer to God there. I always said, if one day I won the lottery really big, I would donate a large sum to this church. Some of my darkest moments were spent praying there for Gods help and when I would leave to go back to work with tears in my eyes, I would feel so much better. The inside of the church is amazing and the acoustics are to die for if you should catch a Christmas Choir performance. The only thing I didn’t like or was a bit fearful was the homeless people sleeping on the benches. If you’re not attending Mass, I would not go there without someone accompanying you, otherwise such a beautiful church. Oh, my favorite room was the Virgin Mary Room to pray and...

I went on Friday Jan 6th for the Solemn service for "Epiphany". There was a wonderful Organ Recital played by Dr. Gail Archer prior to the beginning of the service. Such beautiful music. I was really moved by the service itself, the chanting and singing during the Solemn Mass felt so meaniful. Thank you Dr.David Hurd & choir! The sermon given by Brother Jim Woodrum, SSJE was thoughtful, comforting and helpfully resonated with these days & times. I certainly plan to attend another service at Saint Mary's in the...

It's a glorious space, with music to match! This parish is particularly well-known for processions in Times Square on Palm Sunday and Corpus Christi (transferred to Sunday.) Their commitment to remaining open daily for prayer is a laudable and worthy intention. A note to asthmatics, though: this place is affectionately referred to as "Smoky Mary's" with good reason, so it may be prudent to sit near an exit if one is susceptible to billowing clouds of incense.

Very impressive church in the heart of the big apple. Huge space, very tranquil with light, soothing music, and many religious sculptures, as expected from a church this size. Super high ceiling, hundreds of seats and a very quiet timeout from the noisiest per of the city - you don’t need to be religious to enjoy that.
