Blindfolded Sculpting Experience
Sonali KhandwalaSonali Khandwala
My husband brought me here as a surprise for my birthday last year, and what a surprise it was! We came for the sculpt-without-sight class. You're in for an exceptional, emotional, enjoyable and all around unique experience at Unarthodox. I had no idea what to expect when we walked in - it was a bunch of bald clay heads, folding chairs, smocks and dim lights. They have beer and wine for purchase, or you can stick with water or soda - it's all available. The music was probably the most moving, especially being blindfolded. I went in with a certain vision before putting on my blindfold, but as the music continued and I had to rely solely on my senses, it took me down memory lane and I ended up sculpting something entirely different. I am pretty sure I even cried at some point. I highly recommend this for everyone! It's definitely something worth experiencing at least once. I know I am definitely looking forward to going back again.

Cool concept - if you’re into touching clay without seeing it. My friends had a good time but this was honestly not my favorite nyc activity since I was antsy most of the time. The whole concept is to relax and blindly sculpt over-exaggerated parts of your face. However, I could not relax and every minute I was blindfolded felt so long - I guess I’m so used to seeing and taking pictures that I didn’t realize how uncomfortable I felt when blindfolded. On the other hand, my friends got their creativeness flowing and really gave their sculpture a personality while mine resembled a sad example of Voldemort. I would like to say I would probably do better next time but I think this is the type of experience you need to do once just to know how it’s like. I guess this activity was good in that it made me realize how important I feel for vision in my experiences. Tip: make sure you hang up your jacket, it will get dirty.

I Went on my birthday. 1st there’s no way to call to answer questions, you’d have to email and wait for a response, which I never gotten. I went on TikTok to ask questions, we was told they had mini bites and drinks, all they sold was wine, water and sodas (NO SMALL BITES). They say we can’t talk to eachother during sculpting and was going to have artistic and meditative music. We would get shushed even if we made comments to ourselves. the playlist was AWFUL, so loud they even played a song that was in the “Dahmer” series. so much for meditation music… They didn’t put on the website that you CANT, I repeat CANT take your sculptures with you! They claim it’s because the clay gets so hard it just falls apart (it shouldn’t matter). LASTLY, they said they’d email us out pics and NEVER did. These are just cons that I feel can be easily fixed. Other than that it was ok.

  • REPLYING TO RESPONDER* The number I called nobody had picked up and that’s why I didn’t make it a private event. For the photos it was the correct email address I have my confirmation email when purchasing the tickets. The music was OVERWHELMING & DRAMATICALLY loud for someone to be shushing us. I didn’t see on the website blunting saying anything regarding not being g able to take our sculptures home, there’s no point to do that IF we can’t keep our work. The website should have it detailed and easily seen when booking classes not for us to have to go in search for things like this. A person on TikTok said you guys had small bites & meant say it was an event. It’s not a terrible place but just a lot of mystery. Anyway I hope this will make you all make it very clear on your website so we can actually see...

I can't recommend Unarthodox enough for a corporate team activity!! I am the coordinator for my team and always struggle finding an activity everyone will enjoy when we get together. I either have trouble getting everything I wanted and have to settle, or have at least one person not like it the activity. This was not the case with Unarthodox! Maria was amazing and made everything SUPER easy, and my team had rave reviews afterwards.

We did the Sculpture Without Sight, the activity (I think) they are most famous for. No one knew what to expect and was skeptical at first, but that instantly went away when we entered and saw our logo projected on the wall, a beautiful, private setup, and the bottle of wines I picked out earlier ready to go. We had some time to mingle, then started the experience. The facilitators set the mood with incense and music, and kept our wine glasses filled. Afterwards, a photo of us doing the sculpturing was projected on the wall and we took tons of pictures and drank some more. We also were not rushed out.

It was fun to receive photos later that week and an awesome short video of our team doing the activity the next week, it almost continued the fun of the event after everyone returned to the grind. I would highly recommend this to couples, friends, and for team events. I'm hoping to go back to Unarthodox for one of their other awesome team...

I celebrated my birthday at Unarthodox with a group of friends. I have to say the communication from day one was excellent. I have a few questions and the team always responded on time and adjusted whatever I needed to make sure my guest had a great time. The day of the event when everyone walked in, they kept complimenting how beautiful the place looked. We were greeted with wine and appetizer. My friends got a chance to eat, drink and mingle for a little while until we started to sculpt. The experience was so fun and everyone enjoyed how different the experience was. I was allowed to bring a cake and we sang happy birthday at the end, ohhhh and lets not forget the special touch of your name being displayed on the screen...it made my event so much more personalized and special. After my event we received pictures and video of the entire event. I would highly recommend hosting an event with unarthodox, I am sure a few of my friends will be booking their events with this company. Thank you so much for hosting my birthday party and making...
