Wow - where should I start? Booked a dinner reservation at Kahlo for an anniversary date. From the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out, we had the most special evening thanks to the team at Kahlo. Pilar greeted us at the door and there was an unexpected optional coat check that was super convenient since I had arrived with a backpack. We then were brought to our table where there were custom anniversary menus. Such a thoughtful touch. Our waiter was Edward who went above and beyond as well to make our night special. From the many years I've been eating at restaurants I can tell that the staff at Kahlo is amongst the best, if not the best, I've come across. Others on the staff were also amazing. I went to the bathroom and came back noticing my napkin was folded! The little things like that that make all the difference. So before I talk about the food, I want to give a special thank you to Pilar, Edward, and the rest of the staff at Kahlo. First class service and we will definitely be back. Now...the food!!!! WOW! The drinks and the food were incredible. Highly recommend the corn dish and guacamole for appetizers. The entrees we got the tacos (best fish tacos of my life) and the Mole was the other dish and let me just say that I have been thinking about that Mole sauce since last night. I'm not kidding! It was so delicious! I did not know what Mole really was and I'm so glad that I had it hear first. Absolutely unreal combination of tastes overall at Kahlo. Desert was tres leches which was also delicious. We'll be back! Beautiful venue, decor, ambiance, vibe, delicious food, drinks, and incredible hospitality by the staff? One of the best restaurants in the city hands down. The best food experiences are those that make you feel like you were transported someplace. Going to Kahlo was as if we traveled to Mexico City to a hip part of town on a night out. THANK YOU AGAIN! No es un adios, es un...

My wife and I felt welcome from the moment we walked in. The host was very kind and set a warm tone right away. Our server Andrea was extremely sweet and attentive to our needs; she made thoughtful menu recommendations and checked on us often. A second server (a very friendly boy) also looked after us, which highlighted the great teamwork on the floor. Staff thanked one another, supported each other to keep everything perfect, and the team cleared and wiped the table before each course and announced every dish. At the end, the manager stopped by to ask how everything was—wonderful hospitality.
Favorites to start:
We’re fans of classic guacamole, but this time, she recommended Kahlo & Rivera—with chile paste and mango relish—and it was incredible.
Black Truffle Esquites.
Seasonal Tacos Chile en Nogada (2 pieces)—ideal to share.
Mains we’d repeat:
Cochinita Pibil—my wife loved the balanced flavors, and the artisanal bowl it’s served in is charming.
Pescado Yucateco—grilled, lightly spicy, and super fresh.
Dessert:
Warm churros with delicious sauces.
Drinks:
Fulang Chang and Bonito, our server said both are house favorites; kudos to the bar team, we liked them so much we ordered a second round.
Andrea also mentioned the September 15th Mexican Independence Day celebration—we’re planning to be back for it. Highly recommended; we can’t wait to return. We didn’t take photos this time, but we definitely will on...
Read moreThis was my first visit after six years, we came in for the advertised $45 Restaurant week dinner, Friday and Saturday only… $60 other nights. I was disappointed that we were not offered the restaurant week menu and had to ask for it. It did not appear that the restaurant week menu was offered to other guests either, I guess I was the only one who knew about this advertised special. I think if you are going to offer a restaurant week menu, it should be provided to all guests and offered to everyone.
Having said that, we had a terrific meal and we enjoyed every dish very much. Our server, Andrea, was lovely and helpful. The portions were generous, and the cocktails were nicely crafted. The guacamole was delicious, and my pork entrée was also flavorful and perfectly cooked served with warm tortillas. My husband had the skirt steak, which was also flavorful and properly cooked.
The room is nicely done with exposed brick walls, and some hanging chandeliers, it is quite spacious, and you do not feel like you are sitting on top of other customers.
With the restaurant week special menu, I felt that the value proposition was there for sure. I would consider going back, but I need to evaluate the price points for the regular à...
