Pretty typical Bass Pro. Enjoyed the fish tank and standard retail atmosphere. I will say that I was disappointed in the misleading fish guide graphic on the pole next to the tank. There was a bowfin in the aquarium and we could not identify it using the guide. We had to walk throughout the store just to find two associates who were able (only one) to explain to us what the fish we had identified was.
Second complaint, which was possibly the most blasphemous act that I have ever seen a retail store of such scale partake in. Let me set the scene for you. I traveled across the country to relive a childhood experience that I had done with my family and friends so many times. Upon arrival at the shooting station, I noticed that nearly all of the guns were dismantled from their stations or had an out of order sign. Only two did not have these characteristics. There was no machine in the back for change, and the fellow at the front desk seemed weirdly hesitant to allow me to trade in dimes for the quarters needed to play. Once I finally procured the coins needed to participate in the shooting game, I quickly noticed something was very wrong. None of the electric/mechanical mechanisms that are supposed to occur when you shoot the target worked. Seems like a small issue, yea? Pretty easy fix for a business the size of Bass pro to fix. I have been to many Bass Pros across the nation, including this location throughout the entirety of my childhood, and I have never been to a laser shooting range where the chicken does not spin when you shoot it. The bull didn’t buck, the can did not drop or make a noise, the glass did not pretend to shatter, Uncle buck had no reaction to any shot that I fired, the ducks did not quack, the silly possum hanging from his tail next to the light had no reaction when I hit his associated target, the bulleyes above the cast iron pan did not work, the duck decoys did not pop up or down when I hit the red circle, and unfortunately not a single target had produced the reaction that I traveled many miles to relive.
Once again, the overall atmosphere was pretty standard, but the sole reason that I came to this specific store was to play the game that brought me so much joy in the past while I was shopping. Surprisingly I spoke to three associates (2 of which seemed confused with my line of reasoning) and none of them were able to provide me with closure. I would like to note that Samuel, at the front, was very accommodating and mentioned that he would give me a refund if I’d like. I did not take that offer, in hopes that this brick and mortar Bass Pro location would use my funds to fix the machinery in the laser shooting range. It was obvious that many other customers in the store were as dissatisfied as I was, because on multiple occasions they left the range without even shooting all 25 of their shots (probably because it’s no fun anymore).
To anyone at Bass Pro corporate, or at this specific location reading this message, I hope it finds you well and you understand that there is no malice in my opinion of this experience, rather just fact. Please… for the sake of the future of our society, and Bass Pro lovers across the nation that once had the opportunity to enjoy this amazing establishment and arcade game, fix the bulleyes that make the mechanics move.
Please don’t let this arcade become a relic of the past. Don’t let this become a fleeting memory in the minds of America’s southern youth from a simpler time. Let this experience live on. God...
Read moreWalking into a Bass Pro Shops location feels like more than just a store — it’s an immersive experience for outdoor lovers. From the moment you pass through the doors, you’re greeted by a sweeping panorama of hunting, fishing, camping, and gear displays, along with dioramas, aquariums, and wildlife decor that set a nature-inspired tone.
Product Selection & Variety
One of Bass Pro’s biggest strengths is its breadth of inventory. Whether you’re looking for fishing tackle, hunting rifles, camping equipment, boating supplies, outdoor apparel, or accessories, the store often has a far deeper and more comprehensive selection than more general sporting goods chains. This makes Bass Pro a one-stop shop for many outdoor needs. Even boat and marine gear divisions are integrated into many locations, which is a bonus for those who want to browse everything under one roof.
Atmosphere & Store Experience
It’s clear a lot of thought goes into the store layout and design. Themed displays, live fish tanks, mounted wildlife exhibits, and cabin-style décor give it an adventurous, lodge-style feel. Many people say just walking around the store is fun — you might stop and admire a fish tank, a display of archery gear, or the outdoorsman’s cabins they’ve built into the layout.
Employees tend to be more than just cashiers — many are enthusiasts themselves and can offer advice, help with gear matching, or share knowledge about local hunting/fishing spots (depending on the store). On a recent visit, I had staff members point me toward the best rod for my style, and even give tips on rigging my set up for local lakes. Their passion shows.
Pricing & Value
Because Bass Pro carries premium and specialty outdoor gear, some items come with premium price tags. But they also run seasonal promotions, “outdoor classics” sales, and clearance events that make gear more accessible. For those committed to an outdoor lifestyle, the value of having high-quality, specialized gear under one roof often balances out the premium pricing.
However, some customers report that certain items or brands are priced higher compared to online only retailers or local niche shops. (In online forums, some anglers say Bass Pro’s lure or tackle pricing can be higher than smaller specialty retailers.)
Service, Returns & Challenges
For the most part, customer service is friendly and helpful — staff are willing to get you gear, answer technical questions, or walk you through product features. That said, in busier locations or peak shopping times, staffing shortages or crowding can lead to delays or difficulty locating a team member.
Return policies are generally fair, but a few customers have reported frustrating experiences when trying to return or exchange certain items (especially after a long time or with specialty items). Also, there have been complaints via the Better Business Bureau about delayed deliveries, catalog price misprints, or warranty disputes.
Final Thoughts
If you’re passionate about the outdoors — whether fishing, hunting, camping, or boating — Bass Pro Shops is a compelling destination. The scope of its inventory, the immersive setting, and the knowledgeable staff make it more than just a store — it’s a hub for outdoor lifestyle. Just go in with reasonable expectations about pricing and, on busy...
Read moreWent in with my wife and kids to purchase several fishing items. I was told by an associate in the fishing department about a 20 dollars off club membership promo. When I was ready to checkout the associate took me up front to sign up for a club membership with Kyle. I was NOT told I was denied, I was given a free complimentary hat and bag if I wanted then proceeded to checkout. At checkout I asked about the members discount and the gentlemen stated I was not eligible for a discount so he called for a manager where I waited at checkout for a long period of time with several customers behind me. The manager on duty, Laura, came up to the front end of store and began shouting "no discount, he wasn't approved, you were denied and not approved" in front of other customers in a very loud tone and did not even care to pull me aside and professionally tell us that she was a manager or have any decency to my privacy regarding my credit. She then implied in front of other customers that "we don't just give out free stuff here". I never asked for something free even when I've spent thousands throughout Bass Pro Shops throughout the country for all my fishing gear and firearms. My wife was very embarrassed at this time. The manager then stated she was going to have a "stern talk" with Kyle. After checking out and PAYING for a new rod and other fishing gear I went back in to get my rod spooled at which point the Manager on Duty, Laura, was in an aisle raising her voice at Kyle during her "stern" talk. I did not even bother asking for a Veteran's discount after being demeaned. I never have been treated like this or seen such unprofessionalism displayed by a MANAGER in a large scale retailer at a location this big in front of other customers present. I worked as a District Loss Prevention Manager for several giant retailers and this kind of behavior wouldn't be tolerated by any associate especially an MOD towards another customer nor a fellow associate. The only reason I may ever consider giving them my business again is because of the exemplary customer service Kyle demonstrated. He even gave me some tips about the new rod I PURCHASED and answered any questions I had which made my experience great until the Manager on Duty got involved and showcased her unprofessionalism. I never write reviews, but as a Marine Corps Veteran I decided to bite my tongue during this encounter, and instead leave a review since my family was present along with my kids. I have never been this dissatisfied or my family and I being accused of "trying to get "free stuff" when I've spent thousands of dollars throughout different BPS locations. I won't even get into the other rudeness displayed by this Manager. I would not be a proud store manager running an outfit with a Manager treating customers and associates in my store with absolute disreputable service. Consider taking your...
