I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites Oklahoma City-Bricktown for one night in June 2025.
Overall, my stay was pleasant. The Hampton Inn has great amenities, a reasonable room (though it could use renovating), and a wonderfully convenient location for exploring downtown Oklahoma City.
On the ground floor, the lobby looks nice and welcoming with plenty of space to relax or socialize. Although I had to leave too early to enjoy breakfast, the breakfast area seems to have a variety of food options. There is a small business center (which one of my colleagues used to take several business calls), a basic fitness room, and a nice pool area that kids would find fun.
The room was okay but could have been cleaner. The bathroom showed the greatest need of renovation. The door would only close with great effort and the bathroom lock didn't work. (Maybe this is an Oklahoma City thing? Last year when I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express by the airport the bathroom lock also didn't work!). The area behind the door was definitely showing its age (photo included).
My room was on the 8th floor and there were some great views. The hotel (along with its two connected neighbors) is right next to the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home to the minor league Oklahoma City Dodgers. From my room there was a great view of the baseball field (pictures included). There wasn't a baseball game that night, nor am I a baseball fan, but I imagine it would probably be amazing to watch a game from your room. However, there was a lot of condensation on the lower window so I had to stand up to get the better view. (Didn't try to see if the condensation could be wiped off).
Service was generally good. Hampton Inn was great about having a room available for early check-in, even around 10 AM. Last year at the Holiday Inn Express by the airport they were quite rude about not having a room available early.
Hampton Inn is part of a block of three connected hotels right next to each other and all next to the nearby ballpark. Besides the Hampton Inn the other two are the Homewood Suites and the Hilton Garden Inn. Last year I also stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn.
Overall, the Hampton Inn and neighboring Hilton Garden Inn are pretty comparable, but I had a slightly better time at the Hampton. Both are far better than the Holiday Inn Express by the airport which had worse service and a worse location.
Last year, some of my colleagues had parking challenges at the neighboring Hilton Garden Inn. I imagine the same challenges exist for the Hampton Inn, though it sounds like the Hampton Inn is a little bit closer to the parking garage.
On this visit to Oklahoma City, I did spend some time exploring the downtown area. I walked to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. It was a 20 minute walk (the weather was hot but I brought along an umbrella to use as a parasol) but if you prefer it would be a 5 minute drive or carshare ride. I walked past the old Myriad Convention Center which was in the process of being torn down for the new OKC Thunders basketball arena (will be about a 10 minute walk from the Hampton) and the Myriad Botanical Gardens (also 10 minutes away).
The Oklahoma City Museum of Art was nice, the best highlights being the collection of Dale Chihuly glasswork, including the 55 foot Eleanor Blake Kirkpatrick Memorial Tower in the museum’s atrium.
I also walked and visited the Ronald J. Norick Downtown Library (near the art museum) and the Oklahoma City National Memorial (also a 20 minute walk from the Hampton). Finally, while waiting to meet with friends at the Bricktown Brewery (5 minutes from the Hampton), I visited the American Banjo Museum (also 5 minutes from the Hampton).
So plenty of stuff to do in walkable distance. Initially, I gave the Hampton 3 stars for location because that's what I gave the Hilton Garden Inn last year and they are essentially in the same location. But now that I actually got to walk to and explore the downtown region, I think 4 stars is more...
Read moreTerrible Customer interaction!! Just to start my wife called based on price on the website. Whatever gentleman she communicated with the day before agreed upon the price from the site he put her on hold then said he would call back and in that agreement he mentioned that we would pay when we got here and the room would be reserved... for whatever reason that did not happen.. so when we arrived on our check-in day at 4 p.m. I had to use the phone because of covid-19 at the entrance to communicate, then told her the name it should be under and was told by Kimberly on the phone the manager at that time, that I need to make sure it's the right Hotel cuz she doesn't have any reservation under that name.. there was a lot of attitude right off the bat as if I should know better on how things work at the hotel and that I need to make sure that my stuff is in line and correct... So, this is already extremely long but to make my point... the attitude progressed as soon as I clarify that I understand that she was not involved with the agreement of $129 made by whoever my wife talked to the day before, and that it wasn't her falt and that we were prepared and planned to come in the door at that moment, everything is messed up and we want to figure out what we can do to still get in at that moment at the price that was agreed upon.... but like I said with the attitude in the beginning Kimberly made it very clear she didn't want to deal with whatever mistake was made she didn't want to understand the problem and try to resolve the problem whatsoever! That even though the website says $129 for the room that we chose and that room says for 6 that when I mentioned on the phone (we had 6 I mean 5 with an infant) she consider that a change as if I was trying to hustle her, and that if we came in with a different number of people she would have to charge us the $179.. Kimberly give us the impression that she was more occupied with other things than having time to deal with us.... in the midst of conversations she hung up multiple times in assuming that we were done talking... and I still hadn't made a physical purchase or reservation.. and she choose not to match anything from the website cuz she said that they don't match anything from the site... and wanted to know if I wanted to make a reservation or not because she's busy! The reason why I'm expressing my disappointment in the situation... is even though I'm still proceeded to get a room is, because I had already made plans for my family to come here and swim and do an activity together that is truly the only reason why we did the reservation... but the entire time felt miserable uncomfortable and unwelcome for my wife and I..... and as a manager Kimberly should have approached the situation 180 degrees the other direction... when I make a purchase especially when it's more than what originally was agreed upon.. and that not everybody's has that money to spend.. I'm kind of expecting getting what I paid for and I DID NOT! I will not be coming back to this location due to Kimberly's unwelcoming attitude and unwillingness to help. That is part of the experience and a hotel chain like this knows that! I feel robbed and I felt uncomfortable the whole time and had to hide this from my children so that they may continue to enjoy their fun... I should never walk away from the situation feeling like I did something wrong. Pool was great. Little different then average hotel pool.. but air conditioning or airflow was not there at all... one of the biggest reasons why we came was the pool, and I felt like I was in the sauna...and due to the lack of air flow and chlorine we couldn't stay long 30 minutes 40 minutes max... so1 perc was the view from our room on one side of the hotel faces the ballpark.. but that's it. For this hotel name I would be disappointed in the way it was handled cuz that's how you lose customers willing to come back...
Read moreWe visited OKC for the first time over a weekend and this looked like a nice place, so we booked it. We were planning to go to the Comets baseball game and wanted to get a room with a ballpark view, but all those rooms were booked, so I took what I could get on the other side and my daughter was pretty disappointed. A week before the reservation, I called and talked to Brittany, explained the situation, and asked if we could be put on a waitlist in case there was a cancellation. I expected to her to say that can’t be done or it’s just up to me to check the website daily and see if something opens up, but instead she said ‘let me see what I can do’ and 10 minutes later she was able to switch our room to a ballpark view with no change in cost! This was great customer service.||Since it is downtown, there is a daily charge of $26 for parking in the garage, and it is shared with the Garden Inn and for general parking as well for the ballpark. When we arrived, a game was going on so while it was fairly full, we were still able to get a spot and when there was not a game, there were a ton of spots open. Just make sure you check in before going to the garage as they need your plate number. One nice thing with the lot is that they just scan your plate, so there is no need to use your room key or anything else to scan to get in or not, so that was one less thing to worry about.||As for the room, we were on the 7th floor and could fully see the ballpark and since there are ribbon boards, you could follow and watch the full game from the room if you wanted to (you could also view it from the parking garage, and we saw some people do it). The room itself was fine, but it was a little disappointing that there was not a microwave in it. Also, while it was not in every case, the toilet would just keep running. I exchanged some text messages with the front desk, and they said maintenance was notified, but they never came by. We just closed the door, so we did not have to hear it.||For the pool, it is unique as it is a splash pad, so it was typically packed with kids. Usually with a typical hotel pool, you could do at least some mini laps for exercise, but with the design that was not possible because the deepest part of the pool was just four feet, and even that was for a very small part. The pool opens early at 6 AM, so we went at 7 AM a couple of times and had the place to ourselves. It did look like at one point they had a whirlpool, but it has been cemented over since. The workout room looked fine.||Finally for breakfast, since it is a big hotel, the area was full, and it was typical you had to wait in line. There were some issues of running out of certain items, but they had multiple people working to keep things clean and to restock when possible.||Overall, despite a few minor issues, we would recommend, and it is right in the heart of Bricktown so easy access to the main attractions...
