My recent stay at the Residence Inn in downtown OKC ended up being one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at any hotel ever. I have been an Elite Bonvoy Member since pre-Covid and have always had a very pleasant and positive experience at their hotels, which is why I’m a loyal patron. Upon arrival at the Residence Inn in downtown OKC, I had asked for a late check out, which the front desk associate granted. As an Elite Gold Member per Bonvoy’s benefits, late check out says 2pm. Not once did the front desk associate tell me otherwise nor did she offer me either bonus points or a market item, which is also standard. The point of real failure occurred on the last day when I went downstairs and asked for a new key card. The front desk associate Yolanda, gave me a new key card without any hesitation and asked when we would check out. Yolanda reiterated the 2pm rule per my Bonvoy status and was gracious enough to say that we could check out at 2:30. Shortly around 2pm, I kept getting harassed by housekeeping every 5-10 minutes and explained to them that we were granted a 2:30pm check out per the front desk associate. We were trying to leave by 2:30, but the multiple interruptions at our door delayed our departure by about 10 minutes at which point an associate named Misty pounded on my door and was assisted with the parking lot security. This completely threw me off guard as I was greeted with confrontation and treated very disrespectfully almost like I had committed some kind of “squatting” or trespassing type of crime. Misty was beyond rude to me with my young children present standing next to me with their bags packed wide eyed and totally confused. I had to sternly ask her to please move so we could leave. Misty threatened to charge me for another night even knowing my elite status with Bonvoy. I said I have never been treated like this in my entire life and this situation is absolutely upsurd. It didn’t stop there. Misty continued to follow me and my children down the hall with security to the elevator. I was so outraged with this unspeakable treatment which at this point felt like borderline bullying and harassment. My children and I went to another associate upon leaving and explained the situation. Because of this deplorable and completely unnecessary situation created by Misty, I will never stay at the Residence Inn in Oklahoma City ever again and have taken this matter with upper management. I hope no one ever has to go through what I experienced there.

Pretty disappointed in our first stay here. For starters, first thing when we got to the room, the toilet was clogged. Maintenance came and plunged on it for 20 minutes to make clog what ever was in it. There was a nasty moldy patch on the ceiling n the bathroom as well. The door that separated the living room and bed room had a broken door handle. To top off the night was a few long and dark hairs in the sheets! I’m bald and my wife is blond, so they didn’t come from us! THEN, the next morning, I happen to look at my Apple Card app and there is an extra charge on my card. When we checked out I asked the lady at the front desk about it she was super rude and said she don’t know and that it don’t have anything to do with her. She said that’s something I need to ask my credit card company about. I told her it was a charge and it said Residence Inn on it. I pulled it up on my app and showed her. There were two transactions with Residence Inn, one for the water I bought the night before at 11:30 then the other charge that happened at 2:30 in the morning (while I was sleeping btw). She continued to speak to me in a demeaning way. No explanation of what it was or what it might be, nothing. She acted like she didn’t have time for me and I was bothering her by asking about it.

As of right now, I’m rating service. Checking in at 11pm after a long drive. Just to be attended, not even greeted, by the person with some of the worst customer service skills, or lack of any if I should say. Isaac at the front desk. He’s rude, condescending, has zero information, took 10 minutes to check us in, charged us almost 50.00 for two days of parking which we weren’t aware of, then incidental deposit. Hands us the room keys without saying a word. I ask for our room number and his response was it’s on the back, I asked why he has to be so rude to us, he responds by saying he’s not. He has no business being at the front desk checking people in. This is the start of a mini road trip with a two night stay at this place and I hope it is not a reflection of the entire staff and only a one person incident where he should not be doing this for a living. And you need to disclose there is a parking fee of 23.00 per day plus an hourly fee so people aren’t just presented with an unknown charge at check in. After checking my reservation with Expedia. It’s clearly on there that parking is included. Therefore I’m requesting a refund on my charges. See picture attached.

Our stay this time around was mostly perfect. It was made extraordinary this time. Primarily due to one new employee that I had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time with. However, there was one lousy and rude new employee whom we hope we don't have to see again. You see, I visit Oklahoma City several times each year, with a large number of work colleagues, and our stays can go for weeks. Each time we are in town, the scenery is nice, the restaurants all around us are great, there are always plenty of events going on in Bricktown to keep us entertained. The breakfast in the hotel every morning is always fresh with a large variety, and extremely tasteful. Housekeeping it’s great. The rooms are always clean and stocked with anything that you might need. We were greeted at the front by the, very sweet man, Darren. If we needed anything, Sam is always quick to make sure that we stay happy. In our past visits, we knew that we would have to deal with the homeless people every day, asking us for money and other things, as we tried to get to our cars. We also had a bad problem with the parking. Usually, we had to park in a different lot. Very inconvenient! The big change in this trip was the new Security guard they have, or had, so I hear. Her name is Amber. She is so sweet and very exceptional at her job. I have seen her do everything that she can to help people, using every resource available to her. Whether they were staying at the hotel or not. this recent trip was the only time that I can remember, that we had no problem finding a parking spot. We also had no problems with any homeless people bothering us. We hardly even saw any around the hotel. When I would come out to walk my dog Amber would walk around the building with me to make sure no one bothered me. I felt extremely safe during this visit. The only thing that was unpleasant during this stay was the new girl, Bree, at the front desk. She was very rude and condescending towards all of us. I will be sitting in the dining area doing some work and I could hear her complaining about all of the stupid people that she had to deal with. She was also trying to get Miss Amber in trouble, and it sounded like fired. Miss Amber Would come inside and ask her about towing a car and she would tell her to tell them while laughing. Then when Amber would walk away, she would talk about how she hoped it was a guest car so unless Amber would be in trouble and so hopefully she could get rid of her. That is not the type of person that you want greeting people when they come in. And I just heard from a colleague that was in town. He told me that Miss Amber Will no longer be there. We all agreed, that without that safety net, our next trip to the city we most likely will not be staying at the Residence Inn. It is only because of the great experience that we did have, with the wonderful security, that two stars were provided. Had it still been bad parking, in addition to the vulgar new girl, it would be no stars. I will call before any of us schedule our next trip, to see if our security is still...

I'm updating my review of this property, as I stayed there again and had a very different experience.

I had requested a checkin time of 2 pm, as my Marriott status allows for this and the Bonvoy app told me my checkin time was 2 pm. So I arrived at 2 pm. The person at the front desk in a very unkind tone told me there was no room ready for me and that "the early checkin is a request not a guarantee". When I was told to come back at 3 pm to checkin, I did, and still, there was no room available for me. They couldn't tell me when my room would be ready, so I asked them to call me when it was ready and I went to stand outside (no one was wearing masks in the common areas of the hotel, so I definitely didn't want to stay in there and wait). While waiting outside I saw the person from the front desk walk right past me to leave. Saw me and didn't say anything. So I went back in to the new front desk person and asked about my room. This was about 3:15. Still no room. Considering 3 pm is their normal check in time, and I had a virtual meeting at 4 pm, I really wanted to get to a room. I asked if they had any other room types and finally got into another ready room.

Then, that room, though mostly clean, had a dirty towel in the bathroom and the bathtub was dirty.

There was no sponge in the kitchen.

The outside of the hotel had trash and cigarette butts littered on the hotel property. Though there were "no smoking" signs even outside the hotel exits, there were often people standing out there smoking. Though that's not the hotel out there smoking, maybe the hotel needs to better enforce these no smoking rules and/or at least clean up the grounds.

For reference, this was my former review from 3 months prior:

One of the better Residence Inns I’ve stayed!

What I liked —

--- Great service at check-in. I appreciated that staff worse masks and the person checking me in looked at my Marriott member profile preferences and member status.

--- Liked that the kitchen was stocked with dish soap and towels.

--- I also loved the location! It’s right next to the river with a beautiful and clean walkway. Walking around Bricktown is nice and convenient! Really great location!

--- The room was clean! The only thing that I noticed that caught me off-guard considering the quality all else, was that the tub was a little dirty and the bed sheets were wrinkled. The bed was made but the sheets were super wrinkly so it almost...
