BEWARE, THEY HAVE BED BUGS! It saddens me to write this post because I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, that is, until I was bitten by bed bugs and basically told that I must have picked them up from somewhere else when I never stayed anywhere else, but here! The first bite freaked me out terribly but when I showed my coworkers, they all agreed that it looked like a mosquito bite and that if it were bed bugs, I would have more. Then later that day, two more bumps popped up on my face. I went to the pharmacy and was told that it was certainly a bug bite and to use a cream on it. I checked the top of my sheets as I bring BRAND NEW disposable sheets every time I travel as I am terrified of bed bugs and other germs so I never sleep on or under the hotel linens. I didn't see anything with the naked eye so I thought it must be a mosquito. The next day, another bump popped up on my face and that is when I realized this was certainly not mosquitoes. I decided to check the linen a bit closer since I was checking out as someone told me that if I see black specs, to take a picture of it and zoom in. That is when I saw what had been biting me for 4 days! I was mortified, started hyperventilating, etc. I immediately packed up the rest of my things and went down to share what happened with the front desk. I asked for the manager and was told that she would be in around 9. I explained that they had bed bugs and showed him my face. Other than the shock of the bites on my face, the gentleman had no reaction. That let me know that I was not the first to report this! He immediately called the manager, walking away to talk to her with a low tone. I showed him the pictures of the bugs and explained that I left the sheets on the bed for them to see. He then stated that he was sorry and asked the maintenance guy next to him to go to the room to inspect (maintenance had no emotion either) and at that point I told him again to look at my face, that this was all the inspecting needed. I also explained that I have OCD so when I travel, I bring disposable linen, sleep on top, etc. And that I also sleep in a onesie with socks. So the only part of me that was exposed was my face, hence the reason the bites appeared isolated. He stated that the manager would call me and I later spoke to Shelby and this is where things turned from bad to worse. Shelby stated that they inspected the room and found nothing. Not even on the sheets that I left on the bed for them to inspect, which I took the picture of the bug from, she was basically calling me a liar. I told her that this was not possible, that I had pictures and obvious, horrific bites on my face. She stated that she understood but they must have come from somewhere else. Which makes no sense because even if I did bring them with me, then you most certainly would have found them in the room, right? Not the NOTHING that Shelby spoke of. She then offered to discount the stay or give me points for my inconvenience and when I explained that I was traveling for business, so discounting my rate does nothing for the pain, itching and embarrassment of these bites on my face. Then I asked how many points did she think that was worth? She responded with, I don't know, how many do you think its worth? I laughed because it was at that moment I was even more affirmed that she did indeed find bugs. Why else would you offer anything, when you found NOTHING. I have been traveling on business very often the last several months and have always stayed at a Waterford property in OKC. To have this experience is extremely disappointing and I want everyone to be warned if you decide to stay here! Zero accountability and you need to inspect your room thoroughly to avoid experiencing what I...
Read moreRooms are nice, AC doesn’t seem to remove humidity very well- very damp. Most of the outlets in the room are loose or do not work well. Hotel is clean.
Lobby nice, front desk also very friendly.
Caution when using valet, as I have received multiple parking tickets while staying at this hotel and valeting my car in the last year.
Valet experience was mixed, one valet (Isaac) was rude on several occasions. I asked to park my vehicle for a few minutes to run inside, he rolled his eyes and said “well is it going to be 10 minutes or 15). Later in the week he brought me my car and it had a parking ticket on it (has happened before at this hotel). When I brought him the ticket - he stayed on his cell phone talking to a coworker at length, grabbed and then crumpled the ticket without acknowledging me. When he finally hung up, he asks what else I needed, not explaining why he crumpled that up. When I ask to ensure the ticket isn’t charged; he tells me not to worry about it, not knowing who I am. It escalates as he starts to laugh as I explain that I had this happen months ago and had to spend considerable time to get it corrected with my employer. He then tries to blame the parking lot for issuing a ticket and then shrugged it off because I was able to successfully get the last ticket voided. Never apologized or accepted any responsibility. Went back to sitting on his phone as I complained to the front desk. His coworker came inside and apologized, he still sat on his phone. We will see if I get another ticket. 🙄. Front desk was considerate and helped a lot given his decision to be ruder when I...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Renaissance Oklahoma City Downtown Bricktown Hotel and entering the building it was clean and staff looked friendly and check in was smooth. My room was clean and very beautiful. During my stay I called front desk to ask if they can bring up to my room some forks and a knife. I was told they couldn’t help so they would transfer me to the restaurant, then the restaurant told me they couldn’t/ didn’t know and transfer me to the bar. Finally the lady that answered from the bar told me that it will be a $5 dollar delivery fee. (turns out that wasn’t the case at all, I contact through the website and was told that was inaccurate, somebody from their team brought the forks and knife with NO FEE) so please be aware if they want to charge for delivering items. I also was not aware this hotel was near a night club, the noise was loud till late at night. I woke up with a headache from not getting enough sleep. unfortunately I left some items behind and called as soon as I knew my items were left. they ended up find part of my items and the rest were “never found” . I contacted the front desk they told me what they found and when I told them it was more they said their manager Shelby would reach out… she didn’t reach out at all we had to give a call back again to see where my items were. in the end they were never found and she said she couldn’t do nothing for me. I left them behind and they were never returned . People should be treated the same and what this hotel has shown is they will treat people...
