I had high hopes for this hotel. I love Marriott hotels, but our experience with the front desk staff was unpleasant to say the least. I was checking in on a Saturday, I was told to call early that morning to see if early check in would be available. I spoke to a nice woman who said that wouldn’t be an issue and it was noted in my reservation. We were bringing our dog so we wanted to drop him off and go explore. When I arrived at the hotel the gentleman was extremely rude with “I’m better than you” attitude. He told me I did not have a reservation even tho I was looking at it on the app, that he doesn’t know who I talked to because they were sold out so early check in was not available, which I understand things happen. It was his attitude and ask “are you even at the right hotel”. My husband went in to find out what was going on since I was flustered and had a similar experience of “if you want to sleep in a dirty room” they could get us a room. We called Marriott and spoke to a very helpful woman who had no issue finding my reservation and the 12pm check in. She said he’d be calling us with our room soon as it was clean, no problem, it’s the attitude problem for us. 2:30pm we called to see if a room was ready and was told yes we have lots now.
Moving on to the room. The room was nice but bed was uncomfortable and our shower dropped all night long… which normally I’d deal with, but with our experience at the front desk. I was ready to leave soon as we got up. I do not no recommend this hotel due to it’s one poor attitude...
Read moreStayed here recently for a weekend visit to OKC to see family. I would not stay here again. It’s okay if you’re in a pinch and everything is booked, but not great. A few areas to comment on -
Room - the rooms are very clean, but we had a room on the top floor. A big rain storm came in early in the morning and we were awake for 2 hours with the loudest rain noises. It sounded like it was coming through the windows and the walls. I’ve never heard anything like it. We have it on video. It was crazy. We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels and in all types of weather and this was a first.
Parking - It is valet only unless you can find a spot on the street. There is a parking lot across the street, but it’s a paid lot. The minimum option is $20 for 2 hours. It’s $48 for 24 hours. The hotel offers no discount code or anything for the parking. We were there at a busy time and the valet was very backed up. The hotel is pretty understaffed overall. It was a mess trying to valet. The guy working was very nice, so nothing against him.
Marriott Status - there is nothing offered for Marriott members with status. No breakfast or similar. The hotel is supposedly associated with Marriott, but doesn’t really seem to be once you experience it.
All in all, there are a lot of hotels in OKC now. I wouldn’t recommend this as your first pick. Decent option if...
Read moreChecking in, staff was extremely nice and gladfully catered towards our regular request of not being placed in a room near an elevator which we are always very thankful for. Valet parking was easy and wasn't bad for a downtown location. The building and rooms were clean but man, hotel rooms are getting weird. A simple task of turning on lights require locating small hidden enigma buttons now and figuring out the bizarre wiring of what turns on random lights. Sliding glass bathroom doors are annoying. The Turing shower heads and lack of shower curbs that spill water all over the bathroom floor. Our room also seemed to be pumping in some kind of fragrance that gave me a headache. The coffee maker was in a small nook where there was no outlet and I had to move it to the other side of the room.
On a positive note, our visit included the breakfast buffet and it was pretty good. The seating arrangement could probably be improved. I wouldn't pay the $16 per person cost if it weren't within the package we bought though. The server was very kind and welcoming. Location is key though considering it's proximity to the Criterion and other...
