This gym has gone downhill in it's quality and service lately. They are catering to the trainer Jeanette McCoy and letting her run the place. She is absolutely a horrible trainer - she does not care about her client's success, only what money she can make from them. She's easy to spot - just look for her texting on her phone while she "trains" clients. Jeanette is demeaning to her clients and other trainers and refuses to accept constructive criticism of her actions.
There are many quality trainers who are leaving this gym and taking their clients with them. Clients are loyal to their trainers, not the gym. The gym is now trying to charge rent to personal trainers in order to be able to workout there, despite the fact that both the clients and the trainers all pay for memberships. Many trainers are going elsewhere, and consequently taking their clients with them - making customers go elsewhere and losing money is a bold business strategy.
Additionally, the gym keeps moving equipment around without any rhyme or reason. I can understand trying to optimize the workout area(s), but there doesn't seem to be much practical thought put into it. One day, the bench/incline/decline was moved to the complete opposite side of the building because they were converting that room to a kickboxing room. A few months later, that room is not used for kickboxing at all and just sits empty.
Facility wise, there are never paper towels in the bathrooms - the machines are always empty. Depending on which person is working behind the counter, you may get the joy of having to listen to Enya, Adele, or some other slow music that does absolutely nothing to increase your motivation at the gym.
It's a shame that they've let Jeanette disrupt their business model so much. There are several good people there like Maria and the Russian guy named Igor, and a handful of other trainers who genuinely are helpful to their clients and take care of the gym. Unfortunately, Jeannette and the Iron Religion owners seem to be doing everything they can do to get those people to leave there - many have already. Because of all the good trainers and workers there leaving, it's become a very negative place.
There are many other gyms in that area near the outlet malls and Millenia and I highly recommend you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited this gym yesterday to sign up for a membership since my friends recommended it, but unfortunately, my experience at the front desk was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
Upon entering, I approached the front desk where a caucasian girl, about 5ā5ā, with black hair and glasses was seated. When I politely expressed my interest in signing up, she didnāt make any eye contact or engage with me. Instead, she simply pointed to a form for me to fill out, showing minimal effort or courtesy.
During this process, another customer who spoke Spanish asked her if she spoke Spanish. She responded with a blunt and unfriendly āno.ā Moments later, I overheard her speaking Portuguese with someone else. As a Spanish speaker myself, I know that Portuguese and Spanish are similar enough that, with a little effort, basic communication is absolutely possible. Her lack of willingness to even try was both disappointing and uncomfortable, so I stepped in to help translate. She continued to ignore our interaction entirely.
At one point, I asked her a question about the paperwork. Instead of acknowledging me, she picked up a paper and began reading, without saying a word. I waited a few seconds, then repeated the question to be sure she heard me. She finally responded but in the most vague and careless way possible, offering no real help or clarity.
Once I finished the form, I stood there unsure of what to do next. She said nothing. Only when I asked if we were done did she point silently to the barcode on the key tag and say I was all set.
Overall, the lack of basic customer service, respect, and engagement was disappointing especially for a new member. I strongly recommend that the gym train its staff in professional communication and cultural sensitivity, especially given the diverse community it serves.
I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for others...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been training at this gym for two months now. It was recommended to me as one of the best in the area, but honestly, I find it pretty disappointing for the price.
While the gym does have a large number of machines, several of them are often out of order. More concerning, though, is the level of cleanlinessāsomething Iāve never experienced in any other gym. They provide spray bottles to wipe down machines, but only with these disgusting, foul-smelling cloths that are clearly reused and just spread sweat and bacteria. Itās extremely unhygienic. They should be offering wipes or disposable paper towels instead.
The bathrooms are consistently filthy, with bad smells, dirty floors, and often no soap or toilet paper. The gym itself has an unpleasant odor throughout, which may be due to poor air conditioning or lack of proper ventilation and maintenance. There are water leaks on the walls, and just yesterday, a cockroach literally fell from the ceiling while I was training. That pretty much sums up the poor maintenance and lack of cleanliness here.
For a gym that is among the most expensive in the area, these basic standards of hygiene and care should not be overlooked.
One last thingāthereās a young man with glasses whoās usually at the front desk during the day. He never says hello, goodbye, or welcome to anyone. If youāre working at the front desk, greeting members should be part of the job. A simple acknowledgment goes a long way in creating a welcoming environment.
Iām sharing photos as proof of what Iām describing, because having thousands of machines means nothing if thereās no cleanliness, order, or decent...
