Royal Escape Rooms — Attraction in Panama City Beach

First off, let me say that my family loves escape rooms, even the ones we don’t escape out of, and make it a point to play one on every vacation we take. Only giving 2 stars so that maybe people will actually see this review and never book at this place. This place actually deserves 0 stars. The 5 stars are only so people can get free stuff. For the amount of rooms they had going at the same time, they needed more staff members so that every room could have a fair chance. We did the area-z51 room. We were told about not getting a hint until 15 minutes had passed. We were fine with that because we were hoping to accomplish a couple things on our own without needing help right off the bat. Well we wasted our first 15 minutes and had to get a hint at the beginning. No big deal right, we would just hurry up and finish the rest… well we were wrong. Once we got to the second part of the room (probably 35 minutes left at this point) we asked for another hint because we were stuck. We were given a vague hint but tried to figure out what we were supposed to do. We tried to ask for another hint or even if our numbers were correct because the numbers we got from the original vague clue were not working, no matter what order we tried them in. Probably 20 minutes go by with no additional help or hints (even though we still had 1 left from the 3 you are given at the beginning of the game). The lady finally gives us a hint (10ish minutes left at this point) but it was basically the answer to the clue, not just a help. We had to add 3 to each number we originally got, but there was no where in the room that said we needed to do that, so we never would’ve figured that clue out. Obviously we didn’t escape since we wasted 40ish minutes just waiting around for some help. When the lady came and got us since we didn’t escape, she didn’t ask if we had fun or offer any explanation for clues or even tell us if we were close to escaping, all she said was “are you guys good?” since we all probably looked a little mad/disappointed. Other escape rooms try to help if they see you are stuck for a good amount of time even if you don’t have any hints left. We still had a 3rd hint to use and the lady would not help us at all. DO NOT GO, total waste of money.

I have no idea how this place has so many good reviews. I’d wager most of them are fake or from a long time ago. The rooms are cheaply made and the employee/attendant was a joke and totally ruined the experience.

I paid well over $100 for my family if 4 to do an escape room. We arrived and were the only ppl there. Waited over 10 mins in the front lobby. Finally walked to back of the building and found employee sitting in the office “chillin” or whatever he was doing. He says he needs 5 mins. So we wait he comes up and is very nice we pick the room and pay and wait while he sets it up. Which it should have already been reset, but whatever.

Start the escape room immediately everything looks cheap and worn out but whatever make the best of it have some fun. We do escape rooms a lot and started getting clues pretty quick and moving along. But the problem was everytime we would unlock a container or find a secret cubby that opened, it would be empty. So we’re just roaming around trying to figure out what we’re missing for like 30 mins and the attendant pops in and says oh sorry I forgot to put this key is here and this paper with some colors and numbers in another spot.

So we shake it off a little annoyed and move to the next part of the room. Same thing, solve the puzzles figure out the lock sequence and set everything up and find where the secret magnet goes. But nothing is happening. What’s going on? Again, stand around for another 20 mins scratching our heads.

Attendant finally comes in and again “forgot to reset the lock” and “the place where the magnet goes used to work but it fell off the wall”.

This happens two more times! This guy totally dropped the ball and at the end brings the final key to unlock the exit door cause he also forgot to reset that in its spot.

They don’t offer refunds and have a big sign that says so which should have been a red flag in the first place.

If the room would have been set up properly and they did a little maintenance to keep the place up it would have been fun. But it wasn’t and they obviously don’t keep the rooms up well. Don’t...

First of all John I promised and I am delivering! This is THE best attraction without question in PCB. Buckle up this might get long, I'm not known for being brief... We had stopped by the day before going hoping to do this after a meal, it was early, assuming it wouldn't be busy and they were booked. The staff was super nice, offered to book it then and block the whole room out for us, but we weren't fully sure yet, so we left and waited. Fast forward to the next morning (7am) and we had decided to definitely do it but we couldn't call yet to see if they'd still book out the room for us, so I booked online. Don't worry John I won't give away my secrets that made me your bestie!!! We arrived about 10 minutes ahead of the time, they got us right in. Again, THE nicest and most fun people working here. The room was an absolute blast, the biggest complaint with most rooms is the clues don't lead you anywhere which makes them so frustrating, but not these, each clue and thing around you do a great job leading you if you work as a team and pay attention. We ended up beating THE MORGUE, abeit with a handful of screams along the way, and finished with 11.5 minutes on the clock. All of us except my husband have done an escape room before, and all of us agreed this was by far the BEST one we've experienced. It was 60 minutes of absolute perfect entertainment. When we got out we got pictures from John with our phone, and for promising this review we even got some bomb Tee's to wear around. Not only was this MY favorite thing this week on vacation, they have gained 4 new customers for-life...as long as John and his pals are still working there we'll be back year after year.
