I have a very strong sales and business background so when I see young kids working, it definitely deserves accolades. I also believe that kids should also receive consequences for their actions (NOT saying termination, but they need to learn). I said all of that to explain what happened on Friday Jan 21st (at about 8-8:20pm, incase you would like to watch cameras).
My boyfriend and I decided to make one more stop at pink pelican before season (yes, we are locals that financially support this business when it’s shoulder season). We’re gay, who cares, it’s 2022 and from a business standpoint it’s embarrassing if a company isn’t doing anything to educate their employees on diversity and inclusion. Anyways, we were bombarded by 2 employees to try the Mexican chocolate flavor—- I don’t mind being bombarded, as a sales professional, I admire the enthusiasm but I don’t admire what came next. There was an employee that had curly hair and no facial hair that made a comment about a local gay bar (which I have never frequented because I don’t drink but am familiar with. If you are completely ignorant, you would be unable to identify this bias but what happened next really secured it. He proceeded to blare a vulgar song about inappropriate actions and mimicking gay culture. I was bullied growing up and now I’m 30, successful and a lot more skilled so I did what ANY good sales person did, I sold your employee on WHY he should continue to play the song when the next group of customers came in, he did LOL. Yikes, very weak minded individual and I would suggest you complete some training with him and I will be checking up on this. I didn’t feel uncomfortable because I dealt with punks like him 20 years ago but I DID leave with my boyfriend without purchasing anything because was disgusted that I just so blatantly experienced bias from my favorite local ice cream place. This is a great lesson to teach him individuals are a direct reflection of our companies. I will still get pink pelican ice cream cause it’s undeniably good! Hope the 2022 season is...

Read moreI liked it! ☺ The staff are friendly. There are at least two dozen flavors to choose from. In spite of that, I didn't find the flavors appealing to my taste.
I like simple flavors. This ice cream parlor had exciting, adventerous, Nickleodeon'esc flavors. The variety kids would probably be all over.
But that's not why I went. I wanted a slushy. They have other menu items, including a slushy'esc drink from the Specialty Drink menu called The Brainfreeze. It's a blend of italian ice and Sprite.
Just as they describe it on the menu board, I found it to be "a smooth Rich Silky Ice Cold Delight", however, just a tad too sweet for me.
The interior is fairly drab and dated, but a singular fake palm tree at the front gives the parolr some life, and reminds you where you are.🌴
Have to reiterate. The staff was friendly, warm, helpful, and full of smiles.☺
I called before going to ask about their selection, and they were just as pleasent over the phone.
Only two reasons why I'm not rating Pink Pelican Ice Cream Bar 5 stars is
Aside from those above two idiosyncratic critiques, I look forward to returning in order to explore more of the Specialty Drink menu.
So give em a try. I'm glad I did. G, an amateur critic,...
