This place is kind of touristy, but lets be honest here.... It's Gatlinburg... What's NOT touristy?!
This is a nice little place, emphasis on little. But big tip? Get the Groupon. They always seem to have one, and it's $22 for 5 people, and makes it so much worth it, and includes, go karts, putt putt and a pic with the General Lee (aka the Dukes of Hazard car) this is a nice place as its all indoors if the weather is crappy.
The go karts are nothing big. It's just a simple oval track. But it is a slick track so that's kind of fun, as there's not a whole lot of those in the area. When you sign up you get a color and there's a chart on the door that gives the order of how you'll have to wait. And the time really seems kind of almost too long when you're out there but still kinda fun. And they have kids cars as well. And there's some chairs and benches and episodes of Dukes of Hazard playing. There's photos and some memorabilia on the walls to look at while you wait.
The putt putt side is actually kind of neat. The first hole is downstairs. And this is kind of the reason for 4 stars, as it can get really crowded as its in the lobby and there's not a lot of room there. All, the one restroom in the place is behind a door fit by the first hole, and isn't marked, FYI. After the first hole, you go upstairs, this place is not handicap accessible FYI again. Once you go upstairs, the golf I'd laid out in the old rooms of this obviously what used to be a house. That in itself makes it kind of neat! You don't see how many people are up there until the last room, up another set of stairs and about 6 holes worth in a giant room. The holes are a little challenging, not going to lie. And the pars seem like a really low number. But it's fun even for adults! At least we had fun! There's show posters and stuff all on the walls in this area too.
If you want to get a picture with the General Lee, it's going to cost you too. But you can pay a little bit less and get it taken on your camera with you in it, as opposed to the, taking and printing one out. It's not the best quality, but if your a fan kind of neat. We only did this because it came with the package deal. If you have a group if you, ask them for different packages. It makes it cheaper as well.
So basically, not a huge place, nothing special, but it's still a good time and kind of different. And again, all indoors so you don't have to worry...
Read moreMy family and I had the awesome pleasure of visiting Cooter’s Place Pigeon Forge over Mardi Gras this year. The manager and staff were so kind to my family and I. We had a great time, walking throughout the museum and reminiscing about our childhoods. I was able to show my daughter so many pieces of memorabilia about the Dukes of Hazzard that I could’ve spent hours there.
My family and I were made to feel most welcome at this location.
On a somewhat different note, I need to make a special note in this review of a small but important part of my experience at Cooter’s Place. When I purchased some souvenirs, I paid for my purchase with a credit card. In order to verify that my credit card was being used by its proper owner, the manager asked to see my ID to verify my identity, which I gladly provided him. This simple act (in this age of identity theft and credit card fraud) really showed me the respect that Cooter’s Place has for its patrons and their security.
We will certainly return and visit again the next time we are in...
Read moreYou can't miss cooters, as long as you know what General Lee looks like lol!! When I entered at 1:30 pm on may 9th 2022. Karen quickly greeted me and offered any assistance I may need. I didn't immediately take her up on the offer. I was just taking in all the memorabilia for a show I loved when growing up. After about 10 minutes I noticed another general Lee in showroom condition and a sign that said " $10 for a picture with you INSIDE". I immediately asked Karen about this, and she smiled and said don't worry about the money. She noticed my awe at the opportunity to sit inside 1 of the ACTUAL general Lee's used in Dukes of Hazzard regularly! So I had a dozen pics taken. There's also a helmet and I asked if I could wear it in some pics? Karen quickly said absolutely. Then she showed me the jeep also used in season 3 I believe. Got more pics in it lol. If you are a Dukes of Hazzard fan, then this is a no brainer!!!! Ask for Karen, she's the best!! THANKS 😊 again, Frank...
