I had a wonderful time visiting the Tennessee Bible Museum recently. We joined a one hour guided tour through the history of the bible, including exhibits of famous misprints, bibles belonging to notable American citizens and several extremely rare bibles to name a few things. Two of my favorites from the bible collection (I hope its ok to share the photos) was Frank Capra’s bible (anyone know what he’s famous for???) and the Shields of Faith bible which was a pocket-sized steel-covered bible sent to service members to carry in their front shirt pocket, offering them some protection in the field. After the tour, we spent time in their gift shop and perused the large offering of bibles, devotionals and other gifts. I don’t know of any other place like this so it’s very unique in that respect and,in my opinion, is a must stop in the area for anyone interested in the history of the bible. The location was handicap-accessible and there were restrooms available on site. They are open 6 days a week and calling ahead for tickets/ reservations is recommended. The price was very affordable at under $15/ person for ages 10 and up. Under 10 years of...
Read moreAmazing! I can't believe we did not know this place existed until now. If all it was was a Bible, gift and new/used bookstore, it would be by far the most substantive Christian bookstore I have ever been to, especially if what you want are the out of print theological books that are harder to find. Historic vintage hardcover Bibles, vintage hymnals, new editions and studies, and Christian gifts... they have all of it.
But around the perimeter is a Bible museum that takes about one hour to go through. Your guide will explain what is on display, but you will also see up close and be able to examine actual Bible pages dating back as far as to the 1200s. All of this is just a part of the massive personal collection of the owners.
This is an up close tour of Bible history that you should not miss if you are anywhere near Pigeon Forge. Whether you are a person of faith or not, you will love it. We happened to arrive when the tour was not booked, and we plan to come back, so the owners did recommend calling ahead next time to book tours, as they often have large groups who full...
Read moreI visited the museums with my church's Senior Servants group. It was such an amazing experience that a couple of weeks later, I took my sisters and 10 year old nephew to visit. The Shroud Museum features an exact copy of the Shroud, the history, the scientific studies that were done, all very informative and interesting. My nephew Corbette, was very attentive. Our tour guide noticed and engaged him in conversation. After the tour my sister ask Corbette, "So where do you want to go next?" He responded, "Israel"! Thank you so much for putting three museums under one roof. There is something of interest for everyone. My sisters are twins, now 71 years of age, they literally knew about and had heard in person, practically everyone in the Southern Gospel Hall of Fame Museum. Christus Gardens Encore was one of my favorites. The figures were so life like and the narrative of the life of Jesus were both awesome. Being able to sit and enjoy was a huge plus! Air condition and less walking always appreciated. Looking forward to...
