As a first time customer at this rink, I felt as though the staff as a whole was not welcoming, professional, or kid-friendly. Hoping management staff will address this issue as soon as possible. Engagement with staff is required upon entering the rink, getting skates & helmets, reserving the penguins, & when questions arise. There were different staff members at each of these locations and each one of them was as described above. It was very disappointing especially since ice skating is typically done with a significant other or one’s family/children.
I am also surprised that in order to use the penguins there is a $10 and some change fee PER child. Other rinks that I have been to prior to this one include the “penguins” for children use in the cost of admission. I wish this to be incorporated in the cost of admission in the near future or lowered to a more suitable fee, especially when families have more than one child.
On a positive note, ice skating in the middle of the city was a beautiful experience for my family and I. The rink was...
Read moreIts a lot of fun to go ice skating here at BankNewport City Center, which I THINK used to be called the Bank of America Center. My daughter and I usually go ice skating here at least once every winter. The rental skates are good because the blades seem to be a bit wider than skates you would buy...more like hockey skates than figure skates I would guess? I don't really know what Im talking about, I just know that I used to own a pair of ice skates and I could barely stand up on them, nevermind actually ice skate. However here, with their rental skates, I can actually skate without falling. It costs about $14 for adults and $11 for children under 12 years old for both skate rental and 4 hours of ice time, which is a wicked long time to ice skate. Sadly, we haven't been able to try the ice bumper cars yet because they are always sold out, so make reservations in advance if you'd like to try them. In closing, I highly recommend a day or night of ice skating and hanging out downtown...and its right across the street from the Haven...
Read moreNot a bad place. Have played hockey and have been skating for over 23 years and I will come to this place because it's just a fun night out. The worst part is parking. Really not a lot of places to park. Also skate rentals, if your renting, and I only know this because my friend had to rent, make sure you check the blades of the skates. I've seen very damaged skates because people don't understand you can't walk on cement. I saw someone last time I was there jumping down the cement steps. These blades were very damaged and when I brought them back they did a half ass job sharpening them. Those are my only 2 complaints. The ice surface really isn't bad either. It's definitely a good time out with family for even with your...
