Context: showed at SF-RD 100+ times, OAK JET 25+ times, Concord RD 1 time. RP-RD now 20 times (approx. 4x/wk). RP-RD is half the square footage as SF & OAK & same sqft as Concord. RP-RD is very clean, very quiet. No broken glass in parking lot like SF (have had 2 run-ins w/ smash & grabbers in SF-RD parking lot. Really got the blood pumping. Exciting!). Inventory has 90% of what I get from SF/OAK & the 4-5 items I can’t get in RP (enzymatic cleaner, corn syrup 5G, some Togo bags like 15” I just get in SF 2X/wk). Management needs work. Most or all the floor managers don’t come from a different RD; they don’t have much or in many cases ANY wholesale market experience. Location manager (#1 guy) retired within 2 days of being introduced to him; I’m not sure if the newly-promoted Mgr & Asst Mgr will honor some of the commitments the retired Mgr stuck me with. Meat department is a 1 star; their newly hired manager left for maternity in the 1st month of operation and they are not back-filling. Produce is a 2-star as some items are over-stocked 4X demand and some items 1/4X demand. I think the blame is likely half learning curve as they figure out true demand and half corporate doing some of the ordering from HQ. The cashiers have moved down the learning curve exceptionally fast. They don’t have prior RD experience, but within 1 month they are 90% of the quality of SF + OAK POS personnel. Very smart and hard-working folks. I have high hopes for management as they figure stuff out in the next year. Fortunately, the store is dead quiet and apparently that is by design and I assume they will grow customers organically (they had a unique reason for not advertising locally). I’m sure this location will be 5-star by their 1st anniversary. Sure beats prior local options like Cash & Carry / Chefstore which I see will close within a year as they won’t be able to compete with the selection and prices of RD. Nov '24 Update: Service improving. Crew getting settled in and hitting their groove. 2-day Parking Lot Sale last week had some really good deals. I wasn't able to take advantage of some items 90% off, but i'm sure some customers had...
Read moreI’ve supported the Rohnert Park Restaurant Depot since they opened a year ago, spending tens of thousands of dollars annually for my business. But after today’s experience, I will no longer be returning.
I went in shortly after noon to ask about a frozen chicken product I regularly purchase — the same one listed in their catalog. I approached a female employee (short, blonde, and purposely covering her name tag), and she completely ignored me. No greeting, no response — she turned away as if I wasn’t even there.
I then went to the cashier, Justin, and asked if they had the item. Without checking, he immediately said “no,” claimed they never carried it, and told me it’s only available at other locations. That’s simply not true — I’ve bought this same product here many times. When I asked if he could check, he smirked and laughed with the same employee who ignored me, making me feel disrespected and mocked.
A few moments later, he suddenly changed his answer to “we’re sold out.” The inconsistency, dismissiveness, and unprofessional attitude made me feel unwelcome — and worse, discriminated against.
I’ve been a loyal customer from day one. It’s extremely disappointing to be treated like an inconvenience instead of a valued customer. From now on, I’ll gladly take my business to Costco or US Foods Chef’Store — where I’m treated with respect and common courtesy.
I truly hope management sees this and holds their staff accountable. Experiences like this are how businesses lose...
Read moreI am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I have consistently experienced at your Rohnert Park location. Since this branch opened, I have encountered unfriendly and unprofessional behavior from several cashiers.
In particular, on November 27, 2024, at approximately 8:10 AM, a male cashier (Spanish-speaking, with a neck tattoo) demonstrated extremely poor customer service. Instead of greeting customers properly, he motioned with his fingers for me to approach him, which I found disrespectful. Once the transaction was complete, he failed to say "thank you" or even acknowledge me with phrases like "here's your receipt." His demeanor was arrogant and dismissive, making me feel as though he had no regard for basic customer courtesy.
This has not been an isolated incident. Every time I visit this location, this particular cashier exhibits the same behavior. Many of my peers in the restaurant industry have expressed similar complaints, often opting to shop at other stores such as Chef’s Store despite slightly higher prices, simply because of their better customer service.
It is clear that the cashiers at this location would greatly benefit from training on professionalism and customer service etiquette. Additionally, I strongly believe that the aforementioned cashier is unfit for a role in a service-oriented position.
I hope this matter will be addressed promptly to improve the experience for your customers moving forward. Thank you for your attention...
