Bad business practice. I should say this was an online purchase. I don't see a way to post a review for the online store so I am posting the review here. If Desert Rat stores are independently owned than this review should only apply to online store. I purchased a pair of Bilstein Shocks for my Toyota truck on 5/9/21 for $186.00 and my PayPal account was charged the same day. Ten days later no parts yet so I found the confirmation email from the date of sale saying exactly the following: "Thank you for shopping at Desert Rat. Your order is now pending review from our sales staff." Nothing else. I called but it was after hours. I email them asking why they charged me and did not ship or do anything except the above email? I promptly received the following (this is 10 days after they charged my $186): "These shocks are currently on national backorder. We do have these an an existing stock order with Bilstein but are waiting for them to replenish their inventory. Once we receive these we will finish processing this order and get it sent out to you. If you have any questions please give us a call. THEY SOLD ME PARTS THEY DID NOT HAVE TO SELL AND MADE NO EFFORT TO INFORM ME FOR 10 DAYS UNTIL I INQUIRED! They admitted the parts were on "National backorder" but accepted my payment for parts they know they could not provide. Not cool and...

I love local gear stores. Like, REAL local gear stores. When you walk in they have a feeling about them - they aren't just a store, but a meeting place for local adventurers; a resource to stock up before the trip; a hangout to recount the epic afterwards; a group of people that understand the call to explore the cliffs and canyons and are there to make it happen.

We stop by every chance we get when we are in St George. The staff is friendly and know their stuff. Do you need cordalette to build a quad? They'll talk nuance of 6mm vs 7mm with you. Want the best sandals to hike in sand? They know which ones go the distance. Need to know where to climb after a rain storm? They DEFINITELY know.

Recently, development is endangering local climbing and biking areas, including Moe's Valley, and they are raising awareness for these issues. They're working with the Access Fund, local government, local outdoor groups, and others to try to save the areas we love to play in. I don't see the big box stores trying to save Green Valley Gap. Support these guys, they are...

I had the great privilege of meeting Gavin and Christian at Desert Rat. They were very helpful and accommodating. They are great listeners and aligned their services to my needs with great attention to detail. The most memorable part of the experience is that they created an experience. The time I spent with them did not feel transactional as most “retail” experiences go. They hooked me up with some rental crash pads for bouldering and advised me well as to where to go and stay away from following the previous day’s rain. I have no experience on sandstone and they educated me on matters concerning pulling holds off, eroding edges etc. after humidity etc. I don’t want to be “that guy from out of town” disrespecting the rock. They were so helpful in providing a big picture view of the area and best practices, etiquette and more. And what enthusiasm!!! Christian and Gavin are a tremendous asset to this incredible business. So many offerings and services at Desert Rat. I will be back anytime I am in the area! Thank you Christian,...

I stopped in here with my dad before one of our first big over landing trips. Our plan was to hit the north rim in spot that the staff let us know was still completely snowed in. Instead of letting a couple tenderfoot yahoos from the east coast know our plans were deadly and sending us out the door. They took the time to show us an entirely new route to tuweep and mt Trumbull that still 3 years and 10 states later might be our best trip together. This place is the real deal and even if you’re all stocked up it’s well worth the visit to see the pictures on the walls. Pick up a map and check your plan with the pros. Thanks desert rat!!
