I won’t be back here. Was super excited to have this place in town but it was a let down. It was over $21 for a matcha and a small acai bowl🤢 The prices are sooo expensive. I get they’re using fresh organic ingredients, but still it’s way too unreasonable to come here regularly.
Second, the matcha is pre made and pre-sweetened which is a bummer when you’re paying $8 for a matcha. It was decent, but way too sweet for my taste.
Third, the acai base is super bland and icey. It had barely any flavor and tasted no different than an average smoothie. I lovvvveee good acai, so this was a bummer. The fruit and toppings were great, I’ll give them that, but I didn’t enjoy the acai at all. (My aunt is Brazilian and owns an acai shop in California, so I am familiar with how good authentic acai should taste).
Lastly, when I was ordering, the guy said “I’ll add on a drizzle of peanut butter for you, you’ll thank me later.” I said “thank you, that’s so nice of you!” Then he added a $0.75 charge for the add on😂 I told him I didn’t want to pay for the add on, or else I would’ve ordered it from the start. He got defensive and said “it’s just a pro trick.” Lol so be careful when you check out because they will add stuff on and charge you for it without telling you. He wasn’t even going to mention the up charge, but I saw it on the iPad before I paid😂 My rant is over, not a fan and not impressed with...
Read moreWe’ve been huge fans of HB Beverage Co. for a long time. The service is usually amazing, and the açaí bowls are the best in town. We’ve recommended this place to so many people and genuinely love coming here. We were excited to come back for the first time since having our baby a month ago, but sadly, this visit was disappointing.
When we walked in, we were asked if we were just going to eat outside. We said we planned to eat inside since it was 100° outside, and honestly not safe for a newborn to be in that kind of heat. The response we got made us feel like we were a complete inconvenience. The employee (possibly the owner or manager) seemed irritated and didn’t welcome us to stay. Instead, he directed another staff member to pack our bowls to-go, essentially making it clear we weren’t welcome to dine inside — even though the space was completely empty.
We understand that businesses have policies or preferences, but it felt unnecessarily dismissive, especially under the circumstances. It’s really disappointing, especially from a place we’ve loved and supported for so long. Just a heads-up to others: if you’re planning to stop by with a baby or young kids, be aware that you won’t be allowed to eat inside, even in extreme heat.
Hoping this was just an off day, but it didn’t leave a...
Read moreMy sister, who has a pretty bad coconut allergy and has been sent to the ER for it before, went here today and had the below interaction. I want to make sure people are aware that the people here will belittle you for and disregard your food allergy, putting you at risk:
I am really sad to have to write a bad review on here because I had been coming here for quite a while. Unfortunately I had a very bad experience recently. I have developed an allergy to fresh coconut shreds that can cause serious issues, so I wrote in "no coconut" for my order. Two separate times I have found coconut shreds in my bowl after writing in "no coconut." During this recent interacrion, the guy working there began to make fun of me for my allergy and was extremely rude about the whole situation. I am shocked that you would treat a customer that way when I simply asked that there be no coconut shreds because I am allergic. I will not be coming back because of the terrible customer service and blatant disregard for my health and safety. If you want to keep customers coming back, being rude to them is not the best way. Keep in mind that I never made a scene or demanded that it be free, all I asked is...
