Probably won't do it again. We recently attended the Harry Potter performance. I was expecting the symphony to play selections from the film. Instead, we watched the whole film, with the symphony supplementing the music. This wasn't about the music at all, but rather a vast group of harry potter fans paying $50+ to watch a film in a room with chandeliers. No soloists were recognized for their beautiful music. As the credits were rolling, the crowd cheered for their favorite actors, but no one cheered for Nicholas Hooper, the film composer...the man whose music we were enjoying. Attending the symphony should be about the love of music, not a fancy theater to watch reruns. In the future, it would be better to have the film silent with subtitles, or to simply only show scenes from the film that correlate with the music being played. As for the Abravanel Hall, It's a nice enough venue for attending the symphony and other performances. The gold plated stairways and landings make for an elegant setting. The Chihuly glass sculpture is stunning. The stairs leading up to any of the levels are slanted which leads to a very obnoxious climb. Overall a nice facility, though the overall architecture of the building leans more toward the Bauhaus movement rather than modernist and leaves the visitor feeling a bit underwhelmed when compared to the Cincinnati Music Hall, Boston's Jordan Hall, New York's Met, or even the...

Read moreVery nice theater for musicals, stage plays, what have you. The disappointing thing was the sound crew was absolutely atrocious in the first 30 to 40 minutes of the Broadway Musical. They pulled it alittle together but I don't think that there was much communication or understanding people on the part of the Sound Crew. Performers with microphones sounded awesome, people with the lapel mics you couldn't hardly hear them & very unbalanced in sound quality. I hope that the management of the Abravanel Hall can get their sound team better prepared, not sure in the system was digital soundboard like it our church but if you don't know what you're doing Maybe you should let people know. A Soulful African American Church style of Music that touches every aspect of the spiritual experience of Worship & Praise from the the people whom believe in God the Creator & his Son, King Jesus. Overall the actual performance of the cast of the stage musical GOD'S TRYING TO TELL YOU SOMETHING was 💯, each actor brought it with their whole heart, mind body & soul I also would like to applaud Salt Lake Mass Choir for the background choir voices throughout the event, Blessing to You all & great job SLMC! Hope we can do it again with a better sound...
