We came here on a Wednesday night for dinner before going to the Delta Center to catch a Jazz Game. The restaurant was PACKED - which is a good sign! We were a little worried that we wouldn't be able to get in, but were actually immediately sat close to the bar area at the last open table. Now, let's start with the positive! The highlight of our experience was definitely the service. Our server Joseph was so incredibly friendly and took the time to genuinely engage and banter even though it was busy and there wasn't an empty table to be found. He was also incredibly on top of it and quick to help. As far as the atmosphere goes, this is a standard sports bar, so it's about what you would expect. I do appreciate how open it was and there was a lot of natural light. Now, for the food. I'm going to mention that I think for this being a sports bar with the standard fare you would find at a sports bar, our experience with the food could be due to us poorly choosing off the menu. I was excited to find that they had menu items with Ahi, so I landed on the Ahi Tacos. The cook on the Ahi was executed fine, but it really lacked seasoning and you could even see that there was not much seasoning on it either. To add insult to injury, the spicy mayo lacked any depth and was incredibly heavy on the mayo, so it just didn't contribute too much in the way of flavor. This dish came with chips and salsa, and the chips were even unsalted and the salsa was quite bland. I was so let down by this dish and only ate one taco, then pushed the rest of it aside. My husband ordered a Club Sandwich and he said it was just "okay" as well. Honestly, the French fries were the star of the meal! After I pushed aside the rest of my dish, I started stealing some of my husband's French fries because they were delicious and I was still hungry. Overall, as I mentioned, I feel as though we may have not made good choices off the menu, so I wouldn't necessarily write this place off. Especially since there are reviews raving about the burgers. We will back to try something different next time!

I recently visited The Break Sports Grill Downtown SLC, and while there were some positive aspects to our visit, overall the experience was mixed and fell short of expectations. On the positive side, our waiter was extremely friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the meal. They did their best to ensure we had everything we needed, and their service was a highlight of the visit. Unfortunately, much of the overall experience was negatively impacted by issues with other staff, particularly at the bar and in the serving area. At one point, our food was delivered incorrectly due to a lack of attention and patience from a staff member. When a question arose about the orders, instead of addressing the issue professionally, she allowed the responsibility to fall on us, which was both frustrating and unnecessary. This incident, combined with a few other mistakes made during the service, made the visit more stressful than it should have been. In terms of the food, it was satisfactory but not particularly impressive. Given the prices, I expected higher quality and more flavorful dishes. While the menu options are standard for a sports grill, nothing stood out as exceptional. Overall, The Break Sports Grill Downtown SLC has potential, particularly when the waitstaff is attentive and engaged. However, inconsistencies in service, combined with mediocre food relative to pricing, make it difficult to recommend as a top choice in downtown Salt Lake City. I would suggest this restaurant could significantly improve with better staff training, attention to order accuracy, and a focus on delivering consistent quality.

Let down, sadly. The menu seemed super promising, which is why I decided to give a try. The cheesesteak egg rolls came out, super tasty. I soon realized.. they were missing cheese! I pointed this out to the waitress. Believe me, you can tell when something has cheese.. especially deep fried. She tried to argue with me that the inner, uncooked (but expected) layer of egg roll was the cheese.. not the case. This set a sour example for the service. Thankfully she replaced the order with another appetizer; loaded tots. I made the mistake of assuming that “melted cheese” = queso, so I got a side of it and they were fine. At that point, I had already finished my entree. “Burnt ends” Mac and cheese, is a far fetch for what I was given. It was a bowl of bland macaroni topped with chunky random chopped brisket and bbq sauce. Believe me, if you know bbq- that’s not burnt ends. Check the pictures I included in this review and you be the judge. The most disappointing part was of my week trip to SLC, this was the worst yet most expensive meal of all the local places I tried. Overall, I wish the food lived up to the menu. the draft beer was great, at least.

I am truly shocked at how poor our experience was given all of the good reviews of this place, and I was hoping that our experience was perhaps an isolated incident. But looking through some of the other negative reviews, it seems that this is a recurring issue.

We were planning to attend a concert down the street last night and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before heading over. Stumbled upon this place, saw that it had great reviews, decided to stop in. When we walked in there was a sign that said "Please seat yourselves", which we did, and sat down at a table close to the bar.

Took about ten minutes for someone to come to our table for our drink order, we ordered a beer. About 20 minutes after that, she came back to say that they are out of that beer, so we asked for whatever kind of sour they have available. 10 minutes after that, she came back saying that they are out of three of their sours and handed us a can of rainbow sherbet sour. I am not kidding when I tell you this is one of the worst beers I have ever tasted.

Fast forward to us finally ordering our food, we placed one order of fish and chips, and one order of Asian lettuce wraps. It took AN HOUR from the time we placed our food order to when we received it. We were collecting our things to walk out and just leave when the food finally came, at which point I asked for the check immediately. We had no utensils at our table to eat said food, which I also had to ask for after the food arrived and had to wait for. My lettuce wraps were served deconstructed (bowl of chicken filling with pile of lettuce on the side to "build your own"), and used my bare hands to scoop the filling out of the bowl to make my "wraps" since we didn't have utensils because at this point, I was absolutely starving.

We ate as quickly as possible so we didn't have to stay in that building a second longer than we had to. This experience cost of us $50 for some mediocre fish and chips, lettuce wraps that I had to make myself, and the worst beer either of us had ever had. By the time we left, there was a crowd of people at the door, also frustrated, that had been waiting well over 45 minutes to be seated and we warned them that they should just find somewhere else to eat unless they wanted to be stuck here for two hours.

I want to note, I don't think that this is any fault of the staff that was there. Everyone that we interacted with was apologetic for the wait. And every other customer here also seemed to be in the same situation as us, some of whom were visibly (and audibly) more upset. This place seems either severely understaffed for the volume of people that come through that area, or really, REALLY...
