🚩One of THE most inconsiderate, rude, unprofessional, and ATROCIOUS services I’ve had from a ā€œprofessionalā€, it was SO bad I can barely fit it all in this review😬 I literally got up and walked out mid hair cut, that is how terrible my experience was. So I went in about 3 weeks ago6/30 toget a haircut, I asked my stylist,Teresa(the owner) to help me with my curly hair, I had told her that I had partly messed up my curl pattern/hairstyle that had come from me trying to cut it myself 6 months prior. I had also noted that I wanted to grow out my hair nice and long so I wanted my haircut to help with those issues 🟄Teresa proceeded to: 🚩not part my hair at ALL,even tho my hair was CLEARLY uneven from what I did to my hair 🚩🚩made…15?20?Total snips to my hair here and there…if I wanted that I would have just gone to Great Clips. 🚩i repeatedly asked her if these little clips she was doing would actually help my curls out, she ignored me So I give her benefit of the doubt because she’s the ā€œprofessionalā€ maybe I’m just overthinking it. It’s been about 3 weeks since then…but every day since that haircut, I realize more and more that this 65$ā€œprofessionalā€ haircut has ONLY EMPHASIZED MORE of my own awkward haircut I gave myself 6 months prioršŸ«†literally*EVERYTHING* that I had shown her that I wanted FIXED has CLEARLY NOT been fixed and has made my hair pattern WORSE!🚩just look at how awkward she made my hairshape! āš ļøšŸš©So I go back to try and get done correctly. I talk to Teresa about my hair issue, I kindly tell her that it wasn’t a bad haircut but it has *REALLY* emphasized the inconsistency of my haircut I gave myself 6Month prior, I tell her that I struggle with all the hair terminology and getting my thoughts out and she tells me that it’s ok ā€œshe understandsā€, and she asks me how I would like it fixed, I tell her I would just like it parted and properly trimmed/layered correctly with about an inch off all around if that’s ok, she says ok let’s go wash your hair. āš ļø Before i did anything with her I had asked her beforehand if there would be any charge for *FIXING* my haircut and she said no charge, so she washes my hair and then sits me down And 🚩I don’t know what happened but she then proceeds to have this passive aggressive attitude towards me, she asks me again how short I would like it and I say about this much(about an inch, like I said earlier before she said yes to fixing my hair), I show her with my hands and then she quickly grabs what I had shown her and quickly cut it and says ā€œDONT WORRY ITS JUST A GUIDELINE, I USUALLY START FROM THE BOTTOMā€ and šŸ«† mind you— I don’t even realize yet that this WHOLE TIME she has this passive aggressive energy towards me, I thought that I was getting my haircut fixed that she herself told me she would do for me no charge…but no, šŸ”ŗshe then proceeds to ramp up her passive aggressive attitude more and begins to talk down to me and talking about every little thing that she’s doing during the haircut process and speaking to me as if I was a child. 🚩She then asks me about shears and says ā€œDO YOU WANT ME TO USE SHEARS INSTEAD? WILL THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY?!ā€ After she said that I noticed her coworker and customer across the table look at her with a ā€œare you seriously acting like that right now?ā€ look and then she starts saying she’s getting mad about how ā€œmen usually need haircuts a month laterā€ OKā“ I wasn’t there to get a ā€œnew/free haircutā€ I was there to get my mediocre haircut that I got from her FIXED and DONE RIGHT. I realized how nasty her attitude got and I said no thanks, I’m not doing this anymore, she replied ā€œFINE, GO AHEAD.ā€ I got up and walked out mid cut. 🚩I mean…I paid for 65$ haircut that fixed NOTHING and made my hair patternWORSE, I go back 3 weeks later to try and get it fixed, she says yes she’d fix it NO charge, but then gets passive aggressive n angry at me, belittles and talks down to me like a child during the whole thing?? Just atrocious… If you have thick, dark, curly, and/or ETHNIC hair…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take your beautiful hair elsewhere.šŸ™šŸ’š

I am not usually one for bad reviews. But I am pretty disappointed in my experience with Mid City Salon. I went to get my hair cut which went splendidly, I am very happy with this part of my time there. However, while waiting for my friend to get their hair cut I decided to get my nail polish changed. It was getting close to closing time and so I asked if they had time, and I was told yes, the technician had 30 minutes. It's just a gel polish change so it should be quick and easy. So back we went, the technician was very skilled and probably would have done a wonderful job if she hadn't been slammed. We were halfway through when the boss lady came through and asked how long my polish change would take. First off, how rude. Second, I am used to gel polish being set and dry by the time we finish the process but I couldn't even make it out of the salon without the polish being ruined. I would have preferred they just tell me that they didn't have time rather than slapping a rushed and mediocre polish job on me. Lesson learned though. Status Update: the polish slid right off during the night. I really appreciate your shown effort to fix the problem but unfortunately we leave today and I don’t have the opportunity to get over there. Thankfully the polish seemed to have come off all together so my nails don’t look that ridiculous anymore. Although I regret getting my nails done to begin with at least I don’t have jacked up polish anymore.

I’ve been debating whether to leave this review or not because I’m honestly still in shock at what was done to my hair but I figured I would leave it in the hopes that someone will see it and decide to go elsewhere for a haircut. What happened is pretty straightforward, I got there, got my hair washed and then told Alyssa how many inches I wanted cut and then she simply proceeded to chop my hair from the back in a straight line. That’s it. I could have asked anyone to do that for me… she literally didn’t part my hair or anything. She just chopped 5 inches from behind and I was left with a helmet shaped hair. I have thick hair and this has destroyed it completely. I have like 2 inches of thickness that curled up because she did NOT do anything besides grabbing a pair of scissors and boom, that’s it. As she did this, I started at a business card in front of me that said ā€œprofessional hair stylist ā€œ and til this day I wish I had read the reviews before going because there are some heartbreaking reviews in here as well. I am leaving a picture of what I asked for and a picture of what her 12 second haircut did to me. This has never happened to me in my life… someone just literally cutting the hair in a straight line without parting, or going through the layers of hair in my head? This person could have seen a YouTube tutorial before I arrived and could have done a better job for the $70 they charge.

Overall my nails look great and the lady that did my mani pedi was very nice and did a good job. I was traveling and they accommodated me last minute on a Sunday which I appreciated. The reason for my 3 star review was beyond the service and really applies to the lack of sanitation. As a cosmetologist who takes sanitation very seriously I am surprised at a few reviews that said Mid City Salon was very clean. I saw the total opposite. At first glance it looks like a chic high end salon. Once sitting in the nail area I noticed many things. The floors were filthy with Nail dust and clippings. When I walked in the male nail tech was sitting behind the desk snuggled up with a blanket. I would suggest that the staff should be cleaning during down time. Equipment, tables, sink area, mirrors and other surfaces need a deep cleaning. The Barbicide solution that they are disinfecting metal implements in was low and not fully covering the tools and clearly was not fresh solution for the day. I was happy to see them using a new nail buffer for each client, however the nail file used on me was not new. Yes it’s possible it was cleaned, however, a nail file is considered a porous item and not disinfect-able according to state board rules. The icing on the cake. During my pedicure the male nail tech got up and picked up the foot file that my nail tech had just used on me, rinsed it off (with the pedicure tub sprayer not at the sink, didn’t use any soap nor disinfectant) and only replaced the metal piece (thank god!) before proceeding to use it on his client. Really. You don’t have enough foot files on hand to have a fully cleaned and disinfected one ready for each client. It’s 2019 get some better quality products for nail services. The cheap bulk scrubs and lotions are terrible. I won’t go into detail but I was so thankful to get out of there after an hour and a half of hearing the male nail techs life story being shared to his obvious regular client. Please remember there are other clients that may not be I interested. Unprofessional, and TMI glad I didn’t get him. If I lived in SLC I would find another place to get my nails done. P.S. My intention was not to attack the male nail tech, just to be honest and...

It is impossible for me to bend over to cut my toe nails, and everywhere I have gone to have it done likes to do what they want (cut them squared off ((flat in the front)) so they have corners that dig into the neighboring toe). I tried many, many, times to tell them that I wanted them rounded. But sadly everywhere I have been before they did not understand a word of English, I've been looking around for a place where I could get a pedicure where they speak English (trying a different place each time) Mid City Salon fits the bill perfectly! Now that is above and beyond the call of duty! A1 First class service! Just a simple phone call will prove that they speak English, Not English with an accent, But English as a first language. I am all done having to look around for a salon, and so will you be if you give Mid City...
