š©One of THE most inconsiderate, rude, unprofessional, and ATROCIOUS services Iāve had from a āprofessionalā, it was SO bad I can barely fit it all in this reviewš¬ I literally got up and walked out mid hair cut, that is how terrible my experience was.
So I went in about 3 weeks ago6/30 toget a haircut, I asked my stylist,Teresa(the owner) to help me with my curly hair, I had told her that I had partly messed up my curl pattern/hairstyle that had come from me trying to cut it myself 6 months prior. I had also noted that I wanted to grow out my hair nice and long so I wanted my haircut to help with those issues
š„Teresa proceeded to: š©not part my hair at ALL,even tho my hair was CLEARLY uneven from what I did to my hair š©š©madeā¦15?20?Total snips to my hair here and thereā¦if I wanted that I would have just gone to Great Clips. š©i repeatedly asked her if these little clips she was doing would actually help my curls out, she ignored me
So I give her benefit of the doubt because sheās the āprofessionalā maybe Iām just overthinking it. Itās been about 3 weeks since thenā¦but every day since that haircut, I realize more and more that this 65$āprofessionalā haircut has ONLY EMPHASIZED MORE of my own awkward haircut I gave myself 6 months priorš«literallyEVERYTHING that I had shown her that I wanted FIXED has CLEARLY NOT been fixed and has made my hair pattern WORSE!š©just look at how awkward she made my hairshape!
ā ļøš©So I go back to try and get done correctly. I talk to Teresa about my hair issue, I kindly tell her that it wasnāt a bad haircut but it has REALLY emphasized the inconsistency of my haircut I gave myself 6Month prior, I tell her that I struggle with all the hair terminology and getting my thoughts out and she tells me that itās ok āshe understandsā, and she asks me how I would like it fixed, I tell her I would just like it parted and properly trimmed/layered correctly with about an inch off all around if thatās ok, she says ok letās go wash your hair.
ā ļø Before i did anything with her I had asked her beforehand if there would be any charge for FIXING my haircut and she said no charge, so she washes my hair and then sits me down And š©I donāt know what happened but she then proceeds to have this passive aggressive attitude towards me, she asks me again how short I would like it and I say about this much(about an inch, like I said earlier before she said yes to fixing my hair), I show her with my hands and then she quickly grabs what I had shown her and quickly cut it and says āDONT WORRY ITS JUST A GUIDELINE, I USUALLY START FROM THE BOTTOMā and š« mind youā I donāt even realize yet that this WHOLE TIME she has this passive aggressive energy towards me, I thought that I was getting my haircut fixed that she herself told me she would do for me no chargeā¦but no, šŗshe then proceeds to ramp up her passive aggressive attitude more and begins to talk down to me and talking about every little thing that sheās doing during the haircut process and speaking to me as if I was a child. š©She then asks me about shears and says āDO YOU WANT ME TO USE SHEARS INSTEAD? WILL THAT MAKE YOU HAPPY?!ā After she said that I noticed her coworker and customer across the table look at her with a āare you seriously acting like that right now?ā look and then she starts saying sheās getting mad about how āmen usually need haircuts a month laterā OKā I wasnāt there to get a ānew/free haircutā I was there to get my mediocre haircut that I got from her FIXED and DONE RIGHT. I realized how nasty her attitude got and I said no thanks, Iām not doing this anymore, she replied āFINE, GO AHEAD.ā I got up and walked out mid cut.
š©I meanā¦I paid for 65$ haircut that fixed NOTHING and made my hair patternWORSE, I go back 3 weeks later to try and get it fixed, she says yes sheād fix it NO charge, but then gets passive aggressive n angry at me, belittles and talks down to me like a child during the whole thing??
Just atrocious⦠If you have thick, dark, curly, and/or ETHNIC hairā¦PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take your beautiful hair...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall my nails look great and the lady that did my mani pedi was very nice and did a good job. I was traveling and they accommodated me last minute on a Sunday which I appreciated. The reason for my 3 star review was beyond the service and really applies to the lack of sanitation. As a cosmetologist who takes sanitation very seriously I am surprised at a few reviews that said Mid City Salon was very clean. I saw the total opposite. At first glance it looks like a chic high end salon. Once sitting in the nail area I noticed many things. The floors were filthy with Nail dust and clippings. When I walked in the male nail tech was sitting behind the desk snuggled up with a blanket. I would suggest that the staff should be cleaning during down time. Equipment, tables, sink area, mirrors and other surfaces need a deep cleaning. The Barbicide solution that they are disinfecting metal implements in was low and not fully covering the tools and clearly was not fresh solution for the day. I was happy to see them using a new nail buffer for each client, however the nail file used on me was not new. Yes itās possible it was cleaned, however, a nail file is considered a porous item and not disinfect-able according to state board rules. The icing on the cake. During my pedicure the male nail tech got up and picked up the foot file that my nail tech had just used on me, rinsed it off (with the pedicure tub sprayer not at the sink, didnāt use any soap nor disinfectant) and only replaced the metal piece (thank god!) before proceeding to use it on his client. Really. You donāt have enough foot files on hand to have a fully cleaned and disinfected one ready for each client. Itās 2019 get some better quality products for nail services. The cheap bulk scrubs and lotions are terrible. I wonāt go into detail but I was so thankful to get out of there after an hour and a half of hearing the male nail techs life story being shared to his obvious regular client. Please remember there are other clients that may not be I interested. Unprofessional, and TMI glad I didnāt get him. If I lived in SLC I would find another place to get my nails done. P.S. My intention was not to attack the male nail tech, just to be honest and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt is impossible for me to bend over to cut my toe nails, and everywhere I have gone to have it done likes to do what they want (cut them squared off ((flat in the front)) so they have corners that dig into the neighboring toe). I tried many, many, times to tell them that I wanted them rounded. But sadly everywhere I have been before they did not understand a word of English, I've been looking around for a place where I could get a pedicure where they speak English (trying a different place each time) Mid City Salon fits the bill perfectly! And I got the best pedicure I have ever had there from a girl named (Alyssa). I wanted to get exfoliation and the nails cut that is all I was really interested in. Everywhere else I have been wanted to put on a big show about hot rock massage and other pampering that while it is nice it is still secondary to why I'm really there. Back in the day if you went to the service station to get your gas tank filled, you would appreciate getting your oil and tires checked and your windshield washed and so on, but if they did not fill your gas tank it is kind of pointless to go there at all, it defeats the whole reason you went there to start with. At Mid City Salon you can communicate! And get what you came there for done, everyone there is friendly and understands English that is such a big plus compared to the other salons I have been to. I will definitely be going back and I very highly recommend them, at first I was a little concerned, when I learned that they are in trolley square (because finding a place in trolley square can be like looking for some cheese in a maze) but if you come in the north doors (5th south side) and look to your right (the west) when you walk in it is the first place you will see, because I was concerned, about being able to find Mid City Salon in trolley square, Alyssa even came out to my car and led me into the salon. Now that is above and beyond the call of duty! A1 First class service! Just a simple phone call will prove that they speak English, Not English with an accent, But English as a first language. I am all done having to look around for a salon, and so will you be if you give Mid City...
