This Salon is beautiful and filled with a lot of talent....But after my recent experience with Kat L I will not be returning! Id been a client here for about a year and have had issues with my color which led to my hair breaking very easily due to bleaching. At a recent appointment I inquired about getting a few tape in extensions to mask my damage. Kat let me know despite having them she didn't actually do them. After chatting a bit we decided she should start. So, ask the girl who does them a few questions and Shandra told her she would walk Kat through how to put them in with a few they had...(cool shandra was great only charged me $20 bucks to do that.) Kat had told me that the hair comes in a bundle of 10 pieces for $120-$130 ( before I said I was interested) so I was a bit surprised that she charged me $120 for 1/2 the amount but she did color them so I was like ...whatever. When I left I was FAR from happy they looked weird she left them over an inch longer than my real hair ...let me remind you I have SHORT hair so this was very noticeable because I only had extensions on the left side of my head. After I got home I decided maybe they would look better if I added more in on the other side. I text Kat and asked what it would cost to get more. Kat said it would be $140 for the hair and since she was doing them herself for the first time she'd just charge for the hair, that was great I told her I'd even get 2 packs just in case. Finally the day comes and I'm going to look normal again....yay! Kat had never mentioned a word about additional cost at this point, so in my head I'm in $280 because that's the only number that was brought up. I was not aware of "shipping cost" and was still under the impression I was not being charged for her using this as a practice run. There was no other mention during the process either. The first sign I had that this was going to go badly, was when she said she hadn't colored the extensions..ok they don't match my hair at all! but I figured "don't say anything you are getting a good deal". We can color them later at your next appointment. Second problem is she ended up using both packs of hair trying to get them to blend (because they were not the right color)...which I didn't think we were going to do. Yes I agree I was there for 2 hours but only because she hadn't done them. Now here is the moment I decided I will NEVER step foot in that salon again. Kat gets out a calculator and starts fumbling with numbers and says ok I'm getting 2 totals one is $380 and the other is $450 so let me think. She says I owe shipping on top of the hair (which an hour before she said I got lucky that a stylist put in an order and I didn't have to pay shipping)....hmmm ok. Then she says I owe her $400 which only gives you at minimum for a tip option $80 dollars! $480 WHERE THE HELL DID THAT TOTAL COME FROM? Shandra charged me $20 bucks and she is really good at them! If at any time Kat would have said it would be that much I would have never never agreed. I sat in my car and literally started to cry. My hair still looks completely stupid and now I'm out over $600. I feel lied to by someone who made me feel like friend. Now I have to spend more money to find another salon to...
Read moreI was referred to one of the stylists and called in the morning to book an appointment. The receptionist said that the stylist might be able to fit me in and would I text them some pictures of my hair and what I would like as a reference. She said she would call me right back to schedule me. Hours later after not hearing back I called again and had to explain everything to a different receptionist as they hadn't collaborated at their shift change. I was no longer able to get an appointment with the stylist I was referred to even though the appointment was for two weeks away, she was too booked up and I missed my chance. I was told a different stylist could do my hair, but they would need to double check and call me back again. She did text me quickly to tell me that the stylist was available and we messaged back and forth for the right day and time. As I am going to an event I was thrilled I could get in the morning of. Then I was asked to call so I could get my info set up in their system which I did immediately. So quickly when the receptionist picked up the phone she used my name knowing it was me. Within the two minutes it took to text I was informed the time and day were no longer an option as someone online had booked the spot. I was surprised she didn't immediately book, or at least hold the time for me once I had confirmed it via text. After two failed attempts at booking an appointment that would work for me the receptionist informed me that they need my credit card number so if I am a no show/no call in cancelation they can charge me an undetermined amount of money. I am stunned that this is their policy, to punish all guests for the inconsiderate actions of a few. I would guess the stylists are talented and that's what keeps people going, but all I got from my experience was feeling like a number not a client or guest. I tried to voice my frustration to the receptionist who cooly replied that I could go elsewhere. Instead of a relaxing and pampering experience which is what I enjoy from going to a salon I felt like I was a number and that I'd be lucky to get...
Read moreI had an awesome experience from the moment I walked through the door. The receptionist was very nice and helpful, and when I was waiting for my appointment, they offered me a beverage. I also really liked the fact that the stylist, Kristen (she has pretty red curls, at the moment, and a bubbly personality), took the time to ask the receptionist my name before coming over and introducing herself. Anyways, I have long, curly hair that I never really know what to do with. I went into Salon O because of the good reviews, and I am so glad that I did. I was able to make an appointment with Kristen for the same day, and I don't think I will be going to anyone else again! (When I move again in a few years, I might actually come back to SLC just to get my haircut! lol). Anyways, she listened to what I had to say (basically, I don't know what I want done with my hair but here's the worst experiences I've had so not those), she looked over my hair and she explained what she wanted to do- i.e. not change it much but just enough to make it healthy and put in some layers. She made me feel so at ease- her "chair side" manner is really great. (We also had a lot in common- tv shows and the like- which made it really great). Also, best hair wash ever. Hands down. It felt like heaven on earth. I always love getting my hair washed because of the massage feel, but OH! this was even better than normal- they rub your neck too and it feels really good. So after my cut was finished, time was taken to show me how to properly take care of my curls (found out I've been doing some wrong things which have been leading to frizz etc), and also showed me some easy styles that I could do on my own at home really quick (I need really quick, "on-the-go" style- suffice it to say, I'm a grad student lol). This was the best haircut ever. I am really glad I spent the $40 (not including the tip I added) for a wash and cut (this is coming from the girl who used to hate spending over $15 for a haircut). Suffice it to say, Salon O really impressed me with all the attention to details in making their...
