I attempted to purchase a stand-up paddleboard in the store, but they were sold out (website said in-stock). The staff told me to call in a week when their next truck comes in, so I waited to buy this birthday gift confident that the information provided was true. The next week, the truck came in...no boards. I went home and found one on the West Marine website in stock, so I ordered it. The next day the order status changed to “Fulfilled by Vendor” and said “tracking information not available, please call.” The first time I called, I was number 145 in line, and it took 5 hours for someone to call me back; but I eventually learned that the board was coming from Santa Barbara. A couple days passed...still no shipping info. So I went to the actual store and asked them to track my order. They were very nice, and they tried, but the store is unable to help with online orders!!! So I called again...this time I was number 176 in line. 176! When I finally got a call back, the nice lady said Santa Barbara had refused my order and they were trying to locate one to ship. Remember the birthday I was trying to buy this for? It’s LONG gone. I cancelled the order at this point, and I think it’s safe to say I will never buy so much as a keychain from West Marine again. The people are nice, but the information provided by their website and computer systems is just downright false, which means the information the nice people give you is also probably false. To their credit, they offered me a $25 gift card, but I won’t be needing it as I am done with...
Read moreA lot of employees that don’t want to work. Hugging, kissing, and joking with each other comes before the customers. Bought a West Marine vhf, among a lot of other things, it stopped working a few months in. I trouble shot it with the manual, googled, and youtubed. Nothing. Called to ask if they could do anything, they asked when I bought it and if I have a receipt. I said I don’t remember and no. He then said bring it in tomorrow and we’ll look at it. Went in and asked for it to be looked at. Now I need a receipt to have it looked at. I said I already told the guy on the phone I don’t have one. -Do you have an account with us? Yes. -We don’t see anything and can’t do a return. I never asked for a return, I was told to bring it in and you’d look at it. -We don’t have an electronics department. I was told to bring it in to have it looked at. -He probably meant a return. I can’t believe how poor the customer service is. Definitely going to be doing my boat shopping online from now on. I only had an account and paid those high prices because I was told repeatedly if I have any issues, they’ll help me....
Read moreAs a neighbor AND customer of West Marine for over 12 years, as of this morning, NO LONGER. I am not sure what has changed at this location over the last year or so, but I can only say its gone TREMENDOUSLY downhill. I have always tried to advocate for this store (since its literally my neighbor) but no longer. The management there is borderline rude for no reason. I have personally waited and got ignored at both the sunglasses AND fishing reel counters for over 20 min. And don't get me started on their pricing. There are many, small, LOCAL fishing shops in Point Loma that deserve our loyalty much more than this big box chain. They also treat their neighbors SUBSTANTIALLY better than the management here.
No longer will I pick up the homeless trash you like to leave around your building or the COUNTLESS piles of unbagged dog poo you just ignore.
And PLEASE call your landscaper. Point Loma is tired of looking at your overgrown grass, trees and hedges. Have a little more respect for the neighbors.
