Pier Market Seafood Restaurant — Attraction in San Francisco

#PierMarketSeafoodRestaurant is a lovely restaurant on Pier 39 in San Francisco. They source local, and sustainable seafood. Upon entering We were promptly seated near a window so we could look out on the pier, water, and sunny day. Beverages started with a #MissionMargarita for me made with Tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice and organic agave nectar, shaken. I opted to make it a double, 23 oz. It was very good, a lovely compliment to the luscious savory food we had. My husband opted for the #CableCar Cocktail Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, triple sec and sweet ‘n sour, shaken and served in a sugar rimmed glass. He really enjoyed it. The food service started with lovely sourdough rolls with sweet cream butter, how can you not have sourdough while visiting San Francisco. We then ordered #GarlicSourdoughBread to enjoy with our Main dishes. The bread was brushed with ample butter and lots of garlic. No skimping on the garlic, which we appreciated. The bread went very well with my bowl of #NewEnglandClamChowder Voted the best on Fisherman's Wharf. The Chowder contains bacon which I love. The chowder was most excellent and glad I just ordered the bowl as it was very filling. My husband opted for the special of Cajun beer battered #FriedSalmon served with a creamy coleslaw, and yummy #GarlicFries made with lots of fresh Garlic. Instead of the usual tartar sauce the salmon was served with a very flavorful garlic Aioli. Of course We are close to the Garlic Growing Capitol of Gilroy California. The salmon was wonderful and sourced from a sustainable farm in Washington. It was my husbands first time having deep fried battered Salmon and he loved the PNW staple. The service was friendly and informative. Our server asked the kitchen if he didn’t know right off the answers and gave good advice, especially with our cocktails. Overall we had hearty and delicious fare, in a beautiful setting, and with attentive service. The prices were reasonable, and appropriate. I would visit Pier Market Seafood Restaurant again....

I rarely find myself compelled to write a review, let alone a negative one. However, my recent experience at the Pier Market left me with no choice but to voice my profound disappointment.

The food was nothing short of exquisite, and the ambience created a delightful backdrop for what should have been a memorable evening. However, this positive experience was irreparably tarnished by an encounter with the management over a seemingly trivial issue that speaks volumes about their regard for customer service.

The crux of the issue was a discrepancy in billing - a $2 overcharge on a drink, as opposed to the listed menu price. While the amount was insignificant, it was the principle of accurate billing that prompted me to address this with the management. What transpired next was not only unprofessional but also utterly disrespectful.

The manager’s response to this straightforward issue was laden with condescension. Their flippant remark, “Oh yeah, I’ll give you your $2 back, sure,” accompanied by continuous scoffing and smirking, was demeaning. Such behavior from a person in a managerial position is not only unacceptable but also indicative of a deeper disregard for customer satisfaction and service standards.

What should have been a simple correction and a polite apology turned into an exhibition of disdain towards a customer raising a legitimate concern. This incident has left an indelible mark on my perception of Pier Market. It's disheartening to witness how poor management can overshadow the hard work of the culinary and service teams.

In an industry where customer experience is as crucial as the quality of the food, such disdainful behavior towards patrons is inexcusable. I am compelled to advise potential patrons to consider the lack of professionalism and respect they may encounter here, despite the allure of the menu and decor.

Clam chowder in a bread bowl? It was marked on the menu for receiving some award... It was well earned. Two of the six of us ordered it and walked away so satisfied. We stopped in mid afternoon after visiting Alcatraz. We were chilli and hungry from the island. Walking down Pier 39 and thought there would be a wait. My 8yr old got us a table immediately, despite the place already being full. Sat down, ordered drinks and looked over the menu a bit. Other than the two of us that ordered the chowder, everything else had cooking time associated with them, yet our order was brought to the table the fastest I've ever experienced at a sit down restaurant. At first I thought that they were bringing someone else's food to us, but no, it was our order. My son and I downed the chowder even though it was a very healthy portion. I was apprehensive about getting the chowder as I knew we were going to be walking around a lot more that afternoon and didn't want to have a rock in my gut. But my worries were unfounded as I finished the chowder and the bread bowl and didn't feel bloated at all. It was the perfect serving size. The service was prompt and attentive throughout our visit. Atmosphere was higher end, lots of polished wood, and clean. Nothing was in disrepair though a lot of other places on the pier looked run down.
