I won't be returning to South Town Mall, and here's why.
First Experience: December 2021 During the holiday season, I visited the mall and encountered a sales representative from a beauty kiosk. I politely declined his offer, mentioning that I needed to get cash from the ATM. Instead of taking the hint, he insisted on following me, which felt creepy and off-putting. I dismissed it as an isolated incident and hoped it was just a bad apple in the bunch.
Second Experience: July 2024 I visited again to walk around the mall. A representative from Rajeunir approached me with compliments, which quickly turned into backhanded insults about my appearance. She commented on the bags under my eyes and implied that I didn’t belong among the regular mall walkers. Her sales tactic relied on undermining my self-esteem, which I found both unprofessional and offensive. Despite my polite demeanor, her attitude became visibly hostile when I didn't buy into her pitch.
Overall Impression As someone with a 20-year career in HR and Retail Recruiting, including past work with this mall, I understand the challenges of retail. However, allowing vendors to employ aggressive and demeaning sales techniques creates a negative atmosphere. Combined with issues like inconsistent store hours and confusing branding, these factors contribute to an off-putting vibe.
While I recognize efforts to improve the mall, such as renovations and updates, fundamental issues remain unaddressed. If I'm choosing to drive further to Fashion Place Mall over this one just down the street, it suggests that attention to detail is lacking here. You may not compete directly with Fashion Place, but improving these basic elements could enhance the customer experience...
Read moreThis mall is very greedy. Making people pay a horrible amount for pictures with Santa. Not everyone is wealthy and this should be a free event for children because its about them. Plus your camera and photos you have to pay 20 + dollars for are really horrible quality. Also no personal cameras? There is not one sign posted anywhere that says that and nobody said anything. And im pretty sure a PUBLIC place should be given the right to take your own photos. You are making a special moment for a child be ruined by your greed. After waiting in line for TWO hours my niece was so excited to see Santa. Again nobody told us we couldn't use our own cameras and there were no signs. So we came up to see Santa and we pulled out our cameras and that horrible Santa crossed his arms gave us an angry look and shook his head back and forth and would not even pick up my niece who was jumping up and down out of joy to see him. My niece then became very uncomfortable and upset because she felt she had done something wrong and didn't understand what was going on and ran to my sister asking why Santa didn't like her and why he was angry with her. So thank you for ruining a very special moment for a FOUR YEAR OLD CHILD. We have shared this story with family members and friends and many of them have been disgusted by how you've treated children by your greed. And this isnt the worst story. We heard worse about your Santa. Someone told us you weren't even letting families that weren't paying for photos sit on Santa's lap. So this mall is only kind to and serves privileged or wealthy families? We will never step foot in your mall. Our money will...
