I can only describe it as incompetent or inept and deceitful. Do not purchase from this store. I purchased two items from Havertys, a table and a floor standing clock. Both items were to be delivered together. On the first delivery only one item arrived (the table) and it was damaged. When the delivery men brought the table to my front door, they had it flipped upside down. I do not see how they could not have noticed the damaged as both pieces of wood supporting the shelf were broken with raw wood showing. I did see that they flipped the table over when I was approaching and brought it inside my house. Therefore, I have to believe that they were aware of the damaged and tried to pass it off by hiding it. When asked about the clock, the delivery personnel said they were only scheduled to deliver one item. On top of that, the deliver was late and missed its scheduled time slot which was a four-hour window. I was then notified that it would be over a month before another table could be delivered. The second delivery a week or so later was when the clock arrived. I watched the delivery men work on the clock in my driveway for an extended period of time. They would put it partially together, then take it back apart. I watched as they got tools out and repeatedly assembled and disassembled the clock. When they finally brough the clock inside my house, it was damaged, not functioning correctly, and had oil dripping from it. It was very apparent that the delivery men know it was damaged and yet again tried to cover it up and pass it off. Additionally, it had arrived late (past its dlivery time slot) and that was before they ever started working on it. When calling about a replacement clock, I was told it would be over a week before another clock could be delivered. The third delivery was the replacement clock. It arrived damaged as well. It wasn’t as damaged as the first clock and function correctly, so after straightening one of the metal bracket’s on the tripod, using a black marker on the metal were the paint was chipped off, and using some stain where there was a nick in the wooden leg, the damage was inconspicuous enough for me to decide to keep it. Although, when paying full price for something new I should not have to perform repairs on it. The fourth delivery, almost two months now since my original purchase, the replacement table arrived. In a manner that I believe to now be customary, the deliver was a couple hours late past the four-hour delivery window that was provided and the replacement table was missing parts. At this point, I do not know when or if another table is coming or if I am getting a refund. The sales staff at Havertys was very accommodating up to the point that I made the purchase, after which the employees no longer seem to have any time for me. I have only called them a couple of times since the purchase, so it is not as if I have been overbearing. I do not have any intentions of purchasing anything else from this store and would highly recommend going somewhere else. Unfortunately, customer service and people taking pride in their work is mostly a thing...
Read moreDiscrimination and Appearance Profiling- Given the fact that I have to rate at one star minimum, here you go! I have never been so mistreated in all of my life. Me and my husband were prepared to make a purchase on a high-end bedroom set. We wanted to go somewhere well known for high-end as well as quality furniture. Haverty’s has been around for a long time and has become a household name. This morning, after breakfast and under dressed apparently, we proceeded to go furniture shopping. We were greeted at the door by a gentleman who directed us to the bedroom sets and allowed us to browse on our own, without interruption. This is great given the fact that no one likes a naggy salesman in their ear. After looking at the bedroom sets, we then decided to look for our salesman. He was nowhere around so we continued to browse the entire store selection making our way even into the clearance area. After deciding we’d seen enough, we made our way to the door. Our salesman was still nowhere to be found. We proceeded to walk amongst a group of salesman that we’re relaxing on couches using their phones and not a word was uttered to us. We were treated, in my opinion, as under class. My husband made his way to the guest services to discuss this issue. Being a business owner himself, He understands what customer service is about. Basically, we are pointed in the direction we wanted to go and left unattended. From the moment we entered the door we felt unwelcomed. Not once did anyone say can we help you, are you finding everything OK, was somebody working with you? Given the time we arrived, The place was slow. In fact, the doors were just opening. While making our way to guest services to let the young lady know how we were treated and not treated, our salesman returned with a business card for us to call him if we needed any help. Come to find out, he is the general manager in the sales department! Bottom line-if you’re going to shop at Haverty’s, make sure you put on a suit and tie! Otherwise, T-shirt and shorts will be overlooked as policy store wide. Moral to the story - Don’t judge a book by its cover and be careful who you overlook... They may buy something,...
Read moreFor years the only furniture store I would ever consider buying furniture from has been Haverty’s. Mr. Joe has always been a great salesman and still is. The issue we have faced recently is with customer service and delivery. We have waited patiently for the couch for 2 months. It was verbalized and written that the couch needed to be delivered at 1600 (latest delivery time) since I did not get off of work until after 1500. I was guaranteed that this would be the delivery time. On delivery day, I received a call at 1550 that the couch was being delivered. I notified the driver that I would be at the house within 10 minutes. I made it to the house by 1600 and they had already left. Call was placed to management and they said, sorry, but it was never voiced that we needed to deliver the couch at 1600 and your couch is on the way back to the distribution center in Atlanta. Then they proceeded to say I would have to wait another month to get my couch, then at that time I would be welcome to follow the truck to the house . So, follow the truck from Atlanta to Savannah?! Oh, and do not bother calling us, we will call you. I am beyond frustrated and more than anything disappointed in the customer service of Haverty’s Furniture. Has COVID pandemic made everyone so callous that customer service is now non-existent?? The goal is to support local business, but this behavior is unacceptable and is forcing...
