I loved this place!!!!
My sister had just gotten married on Tybee Island and had originally planned for the guests to go to Paula deen's Creek house for dinner. However, the creek house was closed for maintenance so we quickly turned to Google for a new place to eat. My mother and I have been talking about getting a seafood oil for a while now and this place seems like a good bet.
It was about a 20-minute drive from where we were and according to Google maps we would only have one hour to eat before the place closed.
We walked in with a party of about 10 people. As it was the end of the night, it wasn't very busy and the staff were kind and friendly. They put tables together for us and we were all seated comfortably.
The restrooms at this place have a lot of character but what I noticed was that the water in the sink actually got hot enough which is something that most restaurants cannot boast.
We had one waitress walk around getting everyone's order and explaining everything thoroughly. She was so nice and didn't get frustrated or rude. She was patient and creative she thought ahead and I couldn't help complimenting her on the spot on how well she was doing even with all of us coming in at the last minute with no reservation.
Dining out for me is always troublesome considering I have food allergies. I cannot have dairy of any kind or beef in any form including broth. I also cannot have chicken or eggs in any shape form or fashion. So, seafood is often served with butter and it was almost a deal breaker when she told us that the seafood comes with the seasoning on it which is mixed with butter.
However, she let us know that they could put the seasoning to the side butter in all which meant that the seafood would be plain but that was just fine considering my mother, who was sharing an order with me, could still dip her seafood in the seasoning for the same effect while I was safe to eat it by itself.
Food took a little bit longer to get to us because the kitchen made it the normal way but she asked them to make it the way that we had asked which was without all of the butter and seasoning and they did so quickly. We did not have to wait too much longer for our food which I appreciate it since I knew it was a little bit different for them to do it that way.
This food was so amazing I didn't want to stop eating it. My mom and I had plenty of food left over which we took with us and were able to eat the next day. We had utensils to crack the crab legs but it wasn't necessary since everything was cooked perfectly.
Since we were only visiting the city of Savannah and had to fly back home to St Louis Missouri a few days later, we were more than happy to find that there actually is a juicy seafood in our city. We weren't sure if it was going to measure up to the amazing experience that we had at the juicy food in Savannah Georgia, but according to my mother it has.
But it was the juicy seafood near the Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah, GA that's set the standard for us.
Thank you for being such wonderful people and for making our experience a...
Read moreBEWARE OF THE SCAM....So.... I ordered the seafood boil. I had a great conversation with my waittress (Claijah) or so I thought. She was very nice. Until I noticed the check. When I asked why I was charged a gratuity fee? She stated all the restaurants were doing that now. I asked her where? She stated they are stwrting to do this like their business in the ATL. My response was this is not the ATL or a holiday. I also noticed her tip wss preset. When I ask to speak to the manager she lied and stated she was the dining manager. Iasked for a copy of my receipt and she claimed they do not have paper copy but I can take a pic. Which I did. NONE OF THIS SET WELL WITH ME. I WAS ON MY WAY TO MY CAR AND TURED AROUND AND WENT BACK IN AND SAW AN ASIAN LADY STANDING IN FRONT. I asked her whobwas the manager and she replied she was. So I explained my interaction with CLAIJAH in which she replied "you were charged gratuity because you were with a group". I stated what group I was by myself. At this point CLAIJAH approached us and stated explaining how she accidentally charged me a gratuity fee as part of a group. Note: I was sitting in a booth alone (that part). The real manager told her I told you to stop doing this. I did gwt the gratuity fee back. I left the tip since she act so desperate. WATCH YOUR BILL WHEN YOU GO HERE THE WAITRESS MAY CHARGE YOU AN ERRONEOUS GRATUITY FEE FOR EXTRA TIP MONEY. DAMN SCAMMERS!!@!! SEE PIC OF...
Read moreFood was good, still ranks #1 for low country boil. Apetizers are super yummy, chicken wings and calamari, mmmm, on point.
Went in, asked about seating, no wait. They have thermometer, use your wrist like my wife did instead of a reading from your forhead like i did lol.
Ordered shrimp no head spicy with garlic plus half a pound sausage. I've notices recently that the spices have been clumpy, put a little more water and butter in the bag, and all good.
Wife had crab legs and shrimp, said crab tasted funny. Had them bring out a replacement, wife said it tasted cheap, almost immitation. I declined to taste. The thing about crab, is the meat is juicy, soft, when it freezes, water pools, then is cooked, and water does not seperate back leaving pieces a bit dry, and therefore weird taste. Said ahrimp was on point.
Kids had chicken tenders and frieds, mmmm, very good friea and ranch.
Decor inside has writing on the wall, has a great feel in there. Staff were friendly, but a little less attentive. At one point 7 staff were by the bar, but dispaersed after about 10 minutes, then all was good. Music was pretty good too.
Still number 1 for low country boil in my...
