Savannah Convention Center — Attraction in Savannah

We are exhibitors that were loading in for one of the events at the Convention Center. Despite being here early in the morning, we still had an almost two hour long wait in line to be able to even get to the loading dock. The inefficiency with which they were getting cars into the loading dock area was incredible: even though there were empty spaces, extra spaces, etc., they somehow could not manage to call the next cars in line in to get unloaded. Instead, as we were just going to go pull out of the loading dock, the employee managing the mayhem out there came walking around inside the venue to tell me to come move my van and trailer, since they were trying to get more cars into the loading dock area. I went out there right away - and the spot beside me when I had pulled in an hour earlier were STILL empty, along with about six parking spots along the wall. The line of exhibitors waiting to get in still wrapped all the way out of the convention center drive in. Some exhibitors were stuck in line for over three hours waiting to get in. At one point tge dock manager was ordering a truck/trailer combo to back yo the ramp beside another truck/trailer that was parked on the ramp as well, effectively blocking everybody trying to cart in up the ramp from getting into the building.

To say it was mayhem is an understatement. Either hire people that have some minimal organizational thinking skills to run that process, or pull them all out of the way to let the exhibitors do their thing. As it was, it was a supreme waste of everybody's time and patience.

True, there is construction going on - but that had nothing to do with the inefficiency with which these loading dock "managers" were doing their thing. For a venue of this caliber, this was really an astonishing show of wrong people running...
