My wife and I stayed here for two nights on a Friday through Sunday in Feb. 2020. We are senior citizens and tourists. I chose the hotel because it appears to be historic and classy, and situated across the street from one of Savannah's historic squares. I made a good choice. We paid $192 per night including taxes, fees, and I think the hotel is worth the price. Parking is not included in the price. You can park via Valet for $21/night, or you can self-park in an adjacent garage for about $15/night. The hotel lobby is attractive with high ceiling, classical furnishings, and views out to the square. However the lobby could use some color on the walls, instead of white paint everywhere. At 4pm they serve wine and crackers in the lobby, which is enjoyable. It's free, but a tip is expected. A female pianist provided music during the 4pm happy hour, playing popular tunes on a baby grand piano. It was a bit too loud for the space, but the idea is excellent. Our room was beautiful with lovely dark wood furniture, but no microwave or fridge. Coffee is provided in the room. We were given a corner room, by some stroke of luck, so we had more windows. The queen beds were 4-poster beds, which looked great but the vertical posters got in the way of watching TV (but we did not mind at all). The queen beds felt large and sumptuous with really nice cotton sheets and bedspreads (not a duvet). The bathroom was excellent with first-class fixtures, finishes and personal items. The building is old and you see signs of its age, such as chipped paint on a windowsill, so everything is not perfect. In our room, the windows needed cleaning. One of the two elevators was down for repairs, but the waits for the elevator were not bad. The single elevator was used by both staff and customers, adding to delays. In the hotel, newspapers were available everywhere, which we liked. The free breakfast was good. The breakfast room is not large and has only one small window, placed unusually low near the floor. Historic, I guess! The breakfast room is on a mezzanine level of the building. Breakfast food features lots of fresh fruit, plus eggs, meats, waffles, french toast. Good food. We enjoyed our stay and we...

Room was very nice and clean. There was a TV provided with cable and the TV wasn't locked down so I was able to hook up my laptop to it to browse Netflix/Hulu. I was very surprised by the wifi, props to their IT consulting company, because I was clocking over 100mb/s on my phone via Planters guest wifi.
Staff were super nice.
Price was very reasonable. I paid around $1150 for five nights, and that's factoring in the discount for booking online months in advance and NOT factoring in my valet parking.
ALWAYS BOOK THROUGH THE HOTELS SITE. This isn't just a Planters Inn specific advice, this is life advice.
Breakfast was your typical continental breakfast, nothing special, but highly appreciated and was a driving choice for our stay.
The wine&cheese tasting was pretty cool and I very much enjoyed it. Basically between 5-7pm you can go to the lobby, grab a glass of wine (choice of red or white) and snack on some cheese and crackers. Usually someone playing piano during this time. A cool way to socialize with the other guests....but.... I'm in my mid 20's and felt a bit out of place with the majority 50+ crowd.
My one and only complaint, is that my room didn't have a small fridge of microwave. With all the fantastic places to eat around Savannah, I couldn't bring back my left overs or heat them up. I also would've liked to have been able to chill some bottles of water, as you'll be walking quite a few miles per day if you're exploring River St or downtown.
PARKING==
Parking is not provided. There are parking Garages fairly close by (about a block) for $10 a day, and a parking garage right next to the hotel that's $25 a day. Keep in mind, if you leave those parking garages and try to come back and park, you're going to have to pay those fees again.
Planters offers Valet parking for $24 a night in one of the nearby parking garages, but the value they offer is that (1) The valet gets your car and parks it whenever you want and (2) you can come and go as many times as you want and not have to pay extra.
I did Valet parking all 5 nights and felt I got my...
Read morePros: The property was centrally located to shops & restaurants. The room was quaint and nicely decorated with a large four poster bed. My particular room on the 6th floor had 5 windows of which 3 faced the large parking garage next door and two faced out to the square with an extensive view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The Cons: The quaint, high, plushy four poster bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. The mattress has either outlived its useful life or just wasn't a good quality mattress to begin with, as it sagged and drooped and gave no support. In addition to that, every time I moved in any direction, the frame of bed creaked so loudly, it would wake me. The mattress was quite high off the floor and no step stool was provided. My girlfriend had to move one of the room chairs to the side of the bed to help getting in and out. Also, there was a sound that occurred several times throughout the night. Hard to describe the sound other than a slamming/clanging sound like an air conditioner vent kicking in. The thermostat was very difficult in terms of achieving a desirable temperature in the room. It was either freezing cold or too stuffy/warm. The windows are not modern sound suppressing windows, so you will hear everything from the street or the garage next door. The setup of the room itself left something to be desired as the TV is to the side of the bed at a poor angle for viewing in bed. As I write this, it's 11:05 in the evening and a ship horn just sounded that would wake the dead. Again, another reason for better quality, sound dampening windows. As can be gathered from this review, my experience was not an overall satisfactory one, which was disappointing given the positive reviews I had read online when making my decision as to where to stay...
