Treylor Park, a rustic and quaint restaurant nestled in the brick facade of Bay St. a few paces from the Savannah River. This restaurant provided a unique blend of flavors, a welcoming atmosphere, and solid portions of food for the price.
Upon arriving around 7:20 pm on a Tuesday, the restaurant was full yet we only had to wait about 5 minutes to be welcomed in to be seated (2). The indoor presence alludes to the open road adventures of being in a classic airstream trailer traversing the landscape of the United States. The lighting is multi-dimensional and warm with inlaid ceiling lights, chandeliers, and string lights.
Our waitress began us with water without asking (a plus for me) and gave us a good amount of time each visit to observe each phase of our dinner (starter drinks, appetizers, entrees). Both the Cherry Kool-aid cocktail and the Jekyll Cooter Brown were good beverages and both had a unique flavor--the Cherry Kool-aid sweet and full-bodied throughout the taste, and the Cooter Brown having a nice roasted essence (and almost reminded us of a soy or hoisin sauce) without being too dark and drowning the palette.
The PB&J wings were made well, tender with a good crispy finish topped with peanut butter glaze (with peanut butter halves) that combined well with the Peach Jam dipping sauce. The peach jam was very sweet and in my honest opinion you don't need a lot to taste the power of the combination.
The burger tacos were fully loaded, and I would describe as a Big-Mac with only one piece of bread. We hoped for a bit more of the "special sauce" infused into the taco itself and perhaps a bit more structure to the taco would have been appreciated for handling sake, but the flour tortilla was a perfect match for the flavor of the item.
The Grilled Apple Pie Sandwich was solid! The sandwich stayed together and did not easily fall apart (big plus), and the "light-fried" texture was perfect. Any more breading would have been overwhelming. There was a single apple slice in the sandwich (which was pre-cut in half +), but that meant that not every single bite had a piece of apple, which is okay. The chicken had good flavor, but to me was cooked a bit harder than my preference.
All in all, this is a quality restaurant, and you can anticipate spending around $20+ per person if you visit. The staff we interacted with was helpful. I was caught off guard a bit when the receptionist said they would "come outside to get us when our table was ready," but instead tapped on the glass, but ain't no...

I'm a huge fan of anything local, that's not gonna cost an arm and a leg, with great food and equally great service, head boppin' & make you move in your seat tunes and awesome atmosphere...Treylor Park on East Bay is a place after my own foodie thumpin' heart!
The Back (yep, easy enough right?) has outdoor seating and a bar, seating first come first serve. We opted to grab a drink and see if we could score a table. As luck and about 10 minutes would have it, we grabbed a high top table and couldn't order food fast enough! Garland was not only killing it at the bar along with his brother Scotty, they were the hosts with most, taking orders, running food, all while making sure we were good to go! Before we sat down, I peeped the PB&J chicken wings asked some other patrons how they tasted and the deal was sealed. I got them and I was not disappointed! Pleasantly unexpected and different. The apply jelly cut through the fatty of the peanut butter and made for the best pair they are known to be! Throw in the perfectly fried wings, freshly chopped walnuts, you got PB&J wings!
Moving on to the other good stuff - avacado fries with a dipping sauce that I wanted to bottle up and take home (yum and yummm)! Let's be clear, these were WEDGES of avacado and I'm NOT complaining! My colleague had the veggie tacos (yummy) and I went for the shrimp and grits tacos (holy shrimp fantastic)! Succulent, medium sized shrimp, cooked just right. The grit bites were just as good and I could've eaten those by themselves! All topped with a chimichurri that made me savor each bite and rounded out the tacos as a whole!
Garland was awesome and made recommendations on his fave eats. Scotty kept our drinks fresh. Like, does it get any better than that? Ummm, YES! Fried oreos for dessert. Let's just say, I have been spoiled and I don't think I can eat them any place else. Ever.
An overall win for me and definitely a win for Savannah! If I come back to town, this will be...
Read moreWhen @clarklan60 recommended that we visit a trailer park while on our visit to the South, I must admit to being perplexed. 🤔 Would just any trailer park suffice? Is there someone specific we should meet or talk to? I mean, what exactly are we going for here people? 🤷♂️
I was obviously appreciative when it became clear that she wasn’t recommending that we visit “a” trailer park, but instead that we visit “The Treylor Park” in Savannah, Georgia. 😅
With that little ambiguity cleared up we could now focus our efforts on our visit and we found their menu the most refreshingly unique than we’ve seen in a while.
I was immediately drawn to the “Avocado Fries” shareable appetizer and found myself anxiously awaiting its arrival at our table. While the inclusion of the term “fries” in its name made me wonder if it might actually be a little greasy, that wasn’t the case at all. Although the fried 🥑 is worthy of performing as a solo vocalist, the accompanying efforts of the chili aioli (rhythm section) and the pico de gallo (horn section) made this trio an act that should really be appreciated only when all the band members are available.
The “Southern Sloppy Joe” defied its stereotypical reputation as being a dish that underwhelms in its appearance, but delivers in the taste department. In this case it not only tasted great, but we found its presentation surprisingly appealing.
The “Grilled Apple Pie Sandwich w/ Chicken” was destined for either greatness or a single bite rejection. In this case I was shocked that when the chicken sandwich was dipped into the cinnamon roasted apple sauce…they paired wonderfully! How exactly in the name of gustatory receptors is this even possible? 🤯
While we have no reason to discourage you from visiting some random trailer park while in Savannah, we would encourage you to visit this “Treylor Park” because their creations are unique and memorable and we look forward to returning during our next visit to this beautiful city.
And that’s…Henry’s...
