Five-Star Review for The Drayton Hotel in Downtown Historic Savannah, Georgia
My wife and I were visiting from Charlotte, North Carolina, and decided to stay at The Drayton Hotel based on the incredible things we had heard. We reached out to the owner and senior management about a week in advance to discuss arrangements and were pleasantly surprised by their complimentary room package, which includes two bicycles, two glasses of champagne per day, and a $10 food or drink credit per day.
Upon arrival, we parked in the Whitaker Street parking garage, just three blocks away. The hotel doesn't have a drive-in area for unloading, so be prepared to park on the side of the street with your hazards on. However, once inside, we were immediately impressed by the elegant and modern lobby. It felt like a true five-star experience, with perfectly set air conditioning during the hot August weather.
The check-in process was seamless and professional. We were quickly given our room and a detailed explanation of all the packages included in our stay. We stayed in a Junior King Bed Suite, which featured an espresso coffee maker, two glass sparkling Stillwaters, and luxurious amenities. The deep can lighting in the ceiling added a touch of elegance, and the vintage closet storage area was a nice touch. The high-quality Molton Brown soaps, shampoo, and conditioner were a delightful surprise.
The room was extremely comfortable, and the Toshiba air-conditioning system worked perfectly. The highlight of our stay was the rooftop bar and restaurant. The experience was beautiful, with ample seating for about 75 people. We enjoyed our complimentary champagne while taking in the stunning views. The basement restaurant and bar had a cozy feel, although the low lighting wasn't to our taste. However, we thoroughly enjoyed breakfast in the lobby-level restaurant the next day.
The quality and flavor of the breakfast food were exceptional. It surpassed many local restaurants, and we highly recommend not hesitating to have breakfast here.
Overall, we had an outstanding stay and will definitely be back. A big shout-out to Jaclyn, Melissa, Jaye, and the owner for making our stay memorable and exceptional. Thank you for an...
Read moreThe Drayton is the worst of the luxury hotels in Savanah. We come to Savanah frequently. As a result we stay at all of the luxury hotels. The people at the desk are hard to understand and not helpful in any way. The vallet is $48.00 a night, the pet fee is $150.00; both the highest in Savanah at all luxury hotels.
We booked our reservation for a price of $650.00 per night; same as Perry Lane which is an excellent hotel with excellent amenities and staff that is as good as you will find. I called several days earlier to confirm the roof top terrace, bar and restaurant would be open the Friday when we arrived. I was told it absolutely would be. As the hotel is pet friendly, we planned on having a late lunch prior to our dinner elsewhere that night. Upon arrival we were told the roof top terrace, bar and restaurant was closed for a private event! I would not have booked this hotel if I had known this was the case as it is their only restaurant to eat at at that time and their greatest amenity by far. I asked for some sort of credit as a result. I was rudely told they never do that without any apology for the confusion.
I would not recommend the Drayton to anyone wanting to stay in Savanah due to their lack of care for their guests; they do not care at all and it shows. The rooms are nice and the location is strong. However, they charge top dollar for a sub par restaurant, bars (limited selection of beer, liquor and wine compared to all other luxury hotels in Savanah and the bar tender was wxtremely rude). Most importantly, and I cannot reiterate this more, the staff does not care.
There are now countless options of luxury hotels in Savanah. Go to any of the others as this is the worst of them all. It is owned by Hinton and is run worse than a business overnight Hilton. The Hilton needs to take a CLOSE look at this disaster of a staff, restaurant and bar if they want to compete in this growing...
Read moreFriends don’t let friends drink bad coffee so here’s my recommendation! In need of a morning cup of coffee I made the decision to try a new cafe. After a friends recommendation I found myself at the Drayton hotel coffee bar. This hidden gem is a place you don’t want to miss! Looking in from the outside glass doors, the coffee bar looked so clean and modern. Apon stepping inside I was warmly welcomed with a friendly smile and “Good morning” it actually felt genuine. The service was outstanding! My barista Justin was quick, knowledgeable, and great to converse with. You can definitely tell he’s experienced by how he multitasked preparing my drink making it look effortless and fun to watch. I cant wait to come back tomorrow morning! He was very kind answering all my questions about the teas, coffees, pastries, and even their alternative milk options! Which is great because they don’t up charge based on your preference. I really enjoyed the oat milk in my latte. To top off my latte, I left with a beautiful leaf art design that made my morning feel really special. I also couldn’t help but to look into the hotel lobby. Feeling out the spacious room you immediately find yourself surrounded by lush healthy green plants. An interesting color scale, lovely furniture, and a wonderful amount of natural light pouring in from the windows. I could absolutely see this spot perfect to catch up on a book or just a place to relax from the hustle and bustle on the street outside. In my case grabbing a cup to go was no issue because it was ready in a flash. I just can’t wait to come back to spend more time and even a second cup to really charge up. While Savannah has many cafes this one is by far my favorite and left me with an unforgettable experience. This will be the only place I get my quality morning cup from! So from one friend to another you won’t be disappointed and can...
