What was initially a nice Saturday trip in Savannah turned disaster once we sat down to eat, a person from our party was led in with a $5 off coupon, for this to be seafood restaurant wasn't much choices. I was with a group so I wasn't picky, they told waitress we were in a rush so manager came out and said he'd try to have our food out sooner, in the mist another waiter was called out to explain the gratuity charges on the tickets b/c they insisted we paid before we got our food which was the biggest mistake ever! However I not once called them over except when I got my seafood nachos with a single layer of toppings the rest the chips had not one peice of sauce or anything on it. My first time speaking out was asking for more cheese on my chips, it was so embarrassing , for the lady manager to come at me like it was a money thing I mean jeez lady I've already spent $70 for my kids and I and for her to come at me about $6 for more cheese was absurd, I asked for the kitchen manager at this time he came out at 1st in a nice tone which quickly flipped to "I am sick of all yall, you are causing a scene and you aren't getting more cheese! All of yall get yall food and leave and Never come back! " My kids were there this was embarrassing I had to explain to them you're never supposed to be treated this way when you're spending your money. My party spent about $250 with them and for him to take his frustrations out on me was unfair, the waitress and other manager giggled in the background , i mean it was just HORRIBLE, I had no more fight in me I told my kids let's go my appetite was ruined I left my $25 meal at the table! It certainly was not worth it and the chips with chicken meal were over cooked, no seasoning u can't substitute for fries unless you pay $4 upcharge what a bummer. I certainly feel the manger could have handled me better b/c at the end the day he caused the scene, I didn't! He shouldn't have took his frustrations on me as I was with an older group of women and children and this was very upsetting to them. I refrained from speaking my peace because of them! Although the atmosphere is preety I would NEVER RECOMMEND this restaurant as the customer service sucks, all they worried about was money and it showed! They lured us into paying first and talked to us Like dogs afterwards, I left my meal to show it wasn't about the money! I'd already paid I just wanted my meal to be edible to me! And it wasn't! I thought managers were trained under stressful situations and he did not show that at all. I was not trying to make a scene at all. My story is also in the mist of reaching corporate. I left them with my Blessings b/c God blessed me to enjoy the rest my day in peace. My goal is to just express the lack of customer service and hurt as a human being I experienced that day. $70 bucks...
Read moreSo a group of six of us went there after work, sort of like a team building social. They would not see us until everyone was there. We thought that was a little odd because it’s a Monday not that busy. So we all got a drink from the bar, a cocktail. So then, when everybody arrived 6 to 8 of us, we sat down at the table, waited about 15 minutes for someone to come take our order and we placed an order for four appetizers for us all to share, that took about 15 minutes for the appetizers to come. Then we all decide order oysters, that is when the waiter said that they were out of oysters. We all chose that restaurant because it was on River Street, it had a balcony, the cocktails looked amazing, and their choices in oysters looked very delicious. They had no oysters, it’s the summertime in Savannah. It’s a seafood restaurant and they do not have oysters. We were all upset to say the least, and the waiter just stood there and looked at us. When you have your heart set on one thing and the restaurants out of it, it’s hard to decide on something else, and we ask him what he recommended and he said he didn’t know because he didn’t eat that food. So we all chose the same exact thing the stuffed flounder. It took 45 minutes for the stuffed flounder to arrive for all of us. During that time we had nothing to drink we had to ask 3×4 cups of ice water. When the food finally arrived, the fish was overcooked, it was dry, and each of us received six little tiny pieces of roasted red potatoes, and some green beans that were roasted. The green beans were perfect. The potatoes were dried out and tiny, and the fish was dried out.. so the experience was terrible. The food was terrible and we spent over $600 for a lousy experience. So if you are looking for a good Savannah experience for seafood and service and a restaurant, keep looking don’t go to this one. Also, one of our guest was in a wheelchair, The restaurant is not set up to accommodate people with disabilities. The hostess acted like it was a bother for her to have to go and get the key to the elevator for our guest to use the elevator. It should not be an issue for someone with a disability to use any services That they need to frequent...
Read moreWhat used to be Tubby’s has been redesigned and refreshed into The Broken Keel. I am a sucker for sentiment so I went down to the Broken Keel and got sat immediately which is typical during this season but I wasn’t just sat immediately I was acknowledged immediately. I got my table and was served by a familiar smiling face Ms. Mika. And as expected I was WELL taken care of. I was greeted again expeditiously and immediately. As a starter I ordered the Riverside Seafood Nachos, and within 5-7 minutes I had them. They were delicious and filling. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to eat them all. But I sure as hell tried. For my dinner I ordered A Grilled Mahi Mahi with Roasted Potatoes, a side order of fries and I added on the Bourbon Glazed Salmon. Again Excellent timing at most and no more than 15-20 minutes. I’m really attentive about how my food is cooked when I go out to eat because that was passion I take pride in and everything was cooked with that same passion. Fries were crispy, the potatoes were tender and nicely roasted, Both salmon and mahi mahi were perfectly grilled. But the Bourbon sauce on the Salmon was to die for. I also ordered dessert and for that I chose the banana pudding. Now this is the reason I didn’t give 5 stars for the Food. If I could give 4.9 I would. I’m a strict banana pudding fan and would love to see less whipped cream and it’s missing that southern touch to it. But all and all its a 5 star experience. And even tho we lost I loved the Georgia gear GoDawgs. It’s nice to see my old home is...
