It was great! I had so much fun! It was beautiful and just an amazing experience.
Captain Kris very patient waiting for the humpback both times. I loved all of the animal sightings all the way down to the food ball with birds all over it! The baby otters and otter family on the rocks was so cute Kris has the most soothing voice. As he explained everything he was so calm and knowledgeable. Especially when there was an unfortunate accident, he made the boats way back to harbor safely and quickly. Even though it was a rough and somber situation. When we started out again, the boat’s spirit was kind of broken, but then he basically restarted the tour with new information we didn’t get the first time and brought us to places we didn’t see the first time and he just kept things going. I think it was a better ride the second time around. I really enjoyed riding the waves and holding onto the front bar. It felt like being on a rollercoaster in the ocean! It was so fun!
You guys must be exhausted Sean was so helpful and made me feel very welcomed. He even remembered my name! The chili be served me was delicious (a bit spicy!) Sean made me a fun virgin margarita with glacier ice! That was exciting and yummy!
Spencer was really helpful! The hot chocolate he served me with extra whipped cream was delightful. He even held my cup when we all ran out to watch and video the wildlife. I couldn’t hold my cup and hold on to the railing and film all at the same time, so he kindly held my cup! I really appreciated that!
Annisa was great with all of the kids, marking the map everywhere we saw animals and answering their questions and showing them models of a humpback! She was so cool to bring us a chunk of glacier ice and take our picture at the Holgate glacier while holding the ice! Way cool! She was really nice!
And lastly, I was shocked when we literally pulled into dock right on time on the 8:30 dot! To get us in on time after such a crazy day, that Captain Kris is one talented dude! The only thing I would recommend is to add some music when going through Spire Cove (I think that’s what it’s called). Literally pulled into port at 8:30pm on the dot. That’s fancy timing. I could have never done that!
I loved seeing all of the animals and the glacier! My favorites were the otters on the rocks and in the water with their families! He got us so close! The humpback hanging out by the shore! I have never seen that!
The Minkie whales at the end were soooo cool and long and beautiful and I appreciate him being patient and waiting for them to surface again!
Then of course one of my new favorite and playful animals that I didn’t even know existed, Dall’s porpoises! They are sooooo fun and a miniature orca in my opinion! They made my day! Thank you for letting us stay and play both times with them! They were my highlight!!
Starbird side Port Bow Stern
Now I can go out to sea with the best of them! It was a great day! Thank you for making it a good trip, even with the craziness of the health incident. And I finally learned some nautical terms!!!
It was a wonderful day at sea!...
Read moreWe did the 6 hour glacier/wildlife cruise with Major Marine Tours in early July. It was without question one of the BEST experiences during our 2 week Alaska road trip. The check in and boarding process was very smooth. Unlike some of the other tours, Major Marine gives you an assigned table for the duration of the cruise, which was fantastic as we were able to settle in and leave stuff there if we needed to get up at any point. The chairs at the table are very comfortable and the LARGE picture windows allow you to enjoy the scenery without going outside - which due to some rain and chilly conditions, we greatly appreciated. Upon arrival, complimentary coffee and tea is available, another nice amenity as we were on the 8 am cruise. You can also purchase additional food and drinks on board. I cannot rave enough about our crew! Capt. Tanner, Calem, Hannah, Nicole, Brinley and Olivia were AMAZING! The crew came around to the tables very often to check on passengers. They were all very friendly, knowledgeable and approachable. We had used the Scopolamine patches, and had no seasickness issues at all. However, even though the sea was not too rough, many people were feeling ill. The crew did a fantastic job of checking in on them and trying to help them by helping them move to other parts of the ship where they might feel better, or providing treatments. Capt. Tanner was extremely knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. He also announced when wildlife was spotted and let everyone know where to go outside on the ship to watch, so you NEVER had to miss anything if you sat inside in between sightings. Although the weather was not great, we were able to see eagles, sea otters, seals, and sea lions. However, the highlight was being able to watch 7 humpback whales bubble net feeding right near the ship! Even the crew was excited! We saw them do this 3 or 4 times! We also were able to see both Holgate Glacier and Aialik Glacier (which was calving while we were there!). They also used the glacier ice to make delicious Glacier Ice Margaritas! The 6 hours absolutely flew by. If you are doing a cruise out of Seward, I highly recommend choosing Major Marine Tours. I know I will choose them...

We had an absolutely amazing time on this glacier boat tour in Alaska. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well done. The boat itself was super nice, very clean, modern, and comfortable. They even offered complimentary coffee and tea, which was a great touch while cruising through the chilly Alaskan waters.
The crew was fantastic. Everyone was polite, professional, and clearly working hard to make sure guests were happy. Luis took care of us during the trip, and he was especially friendly and attentive. It really felt like he went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable and having a good time.
The captain was another highlight. She was extremely knowledgeable and shared all kinds of interesting facts over the speaker throughout the cruise. She had a calm, pleasant voice that made it enjoyable to listen to as we traveled through the area.
The wildlife sightings were incredible. We saw humpback whales, orcas, seals, porpoises, sea otters, and a wide variety of birds. One of the wildest moments was spotting mountain goats on top of the glaciers. Definitely not something you see every day.
They even let us touch real glacier ice and made margaritas with it, which was both funny and really cool. For the kids, they handed out coloring books and did a special brownie treat, which was a sweet little surprise. Lunch was great too. You had the option of roast beef or turkey sandwiches, and the roast beef one was massive, way more generous than I expected.
There was also a full bar, snacks, and some fun souvenirs on board. Honestly, it felt like they went above and beyond to make sure every detail was covered.
All in all, a fantastic experience. If you’re thinking about doing a glacier cruise, I would absolutely recommend this one. It was one of the highlights of our...
