My husband and I could not be happier that we chose the Loft at Studio J for our wedding in November! Emily and Cory were amazing to work with. They were extremely responsive to my ongoing list of questions (especially during the pandemic). They were very understanding, flexible, and kind throughout the wedding planning process. A huge shout out to Emily, for being proactive and reaching out when the restrictions were placed on the wedding. They made us feel very safe and confident that they were going to handle our small wedding as safely as possible. Right away, we fell in love with the rustic vibe and knew that we could take advantage of how naturally beautiful the venue is. We loved the windows, the chiavari chairs, the bar, and the fact that it has a photobooth (which was so much fun)! It is also reasonable in price, especially for around the area. After our initial tour, they made the process so easy for us and were such a great resource. I love the portal that they put all your information in, so that you can see everything that you talked about just in case you forget something. We flipped our timeline around 9 days before the wedding due to the current restrictions, and both Emily and Cory were transparent, professional and flexible. A huge shout out to the day of coordinator - Cory, who let us use their easels/stands when I completely forgot to buy them for my signage…totally saved the day! He also went above and beyond by referring me to some good photo op locations around Stillwater for the wedding party pics, which I appreciated since I’m not from the area. Even after the wedding, they checked in to make sure that I was taken care of. I have to remind myself that we are not the only wedding they are managing…because they make you feel like the most special couple out there! I would rate them 100 stars out of 10 if that was possible. THANK YOU! 😊Love, Mr &...
Read moreWhen we signed the contract with Loft at Studio J, we could not have been happier. We were so excited to work with them, I voted for them on Wedding Wire and the Knot as an outstanding venue.
Then COVID happened.. We reached out to them at 3.5 months before our wedding. The wedding organizer/director (Emily Tweed) told us we would have to wait until 6 weeks prior to our wedding to make the decision to postpone. At that point it was May we still didn’t know what the future would hold. We decided to wait it out and reach our guests about the situation.
At less than four weeks prior to the wedding, we hadn't heard from the Loft at Studio J management about planning the wedding details. At this time COVID cases were rising and we did could not figure out a way to stagger the guests in accordance with the CDC guidelines. We did not want to be responsible for anyone's ill health during the COVID pandemic. We reached out to Emily and the Loft at Studio J management team to discuss the situation and get our earnest money back. (Note: There is a force majeure clause listed in our contract.) The management team (Emily's brother, Judd Sather) would not return any of our $3000, not even a portion of it. $3000 for a tour and a couple emails is quite a fee.
It's especially hurtful when you are trying to be responsible and the owner is posting about the financial status of his businesses during COVID on their social media writing, “I feel like I’m retired- golfing, no financial stress.. yet” (from Judd Sather Photography Blog, May 6, 2020.)
We still were married on the original date however, out of abundance of caution for our loved one's health and safety, we had an intimate church ceremony with online video streaming for our family and friends (with no reception at the Loft...
Read moreMy husband and I had our wedding at this beautiful venue last weekend. The location has to be one of our favorite aspects of it (so many pretty and historical places to take wedding and family photos after the ceremony).
Although we were very happy with this venue, there were some bumps or miscommunications about some aspects. The photo booth wouldn't let our guests email their pictures to them (we did receive a link of all the photo booth photos though...which was super fun to relive and see the personalities of our guests come out). Also, the slideshow we had prepared did not work on the television screens for our guests to see during cocktail hour and the dinner. The owner eventually did make it in to help out with this situation, but the day-of-coordinator seemed to not communicate troubles with us about this or figure it out sooner (the slideshow eventually played after dinner when the dance started). Things happen, we do understand.
One final note to consider would be the bar menu and what you and your partner host for your guests...make sure you add an 18% gratuity to what you discuss with Emily. We didn't consider this, and she didn't mention this at the time (it is in the fine print of everything, but we didn't read over that part). Our tab was higher than we imagined due to gratuity.
Overall, we would definitely have our wedding here again! It...
