The man sitting at the cash register, not sure if owner or not, was extremely rude to my adult daughter. She wanted to buy $8.50 worth of merchandise but didn’t have cash. He ‘finally’ accepted a check. After my daughter wrote out her check, he noticed the address was out of state. She offered to show him her driver’s license. No, that’s too risky! She responded with I’m not that kind of person. He said that was what everyone said. She said, well I don’t need to spend my money here then. I approached him and said I didn’t think that was any way to treat a customer. He said he didn’t care to be lectured by me and I could leave. Remember, this was all over $8.50!!! I’ve NEVER been thrown out of a store and I’m 66 years old. He is one of the rudest people I’ve ever met. We will never go back. There are plenty of other antique stores in Stillwater who are courteous to their customers and who, btw, accept any form of compensation. I wouldn’t even give this place one star-they get zero...
Read moreSet the Scene. Its a rainy soaked day in late April. I was in town for 48 hours. Once day spent organizing a house in frog town. I noticed I hadn't gotten my Antique fix in, and I had exactly 5 hours before my fight took off. What more of a healing way to spead a rainy daym then at Estelle vintage. Yeah, its the polar opposite way from the airport, but its the RIGHT DIRECTION to making your house happy. This set up in on the first floor of American gothic antique on main street, and in the back right(right ish) side of the store. Not only did I spend a boat load of time in this boothm but got lost in the attick (per usual) 3rd floor in the glassware. God you guys, its the weekend. Antiqueing is a right of passage. God enjoy the rain with some iced coffee and in this booth. Prices are awesome, the although the R&J soundtrack made me feel old as dirt, the rest made me smile so damn hard. (Pissed that one dress I came in for wan't there, but whatever) Still...
Read moreBUYERS BEWARE: they seem to put random prices on items… and on the you got had side… they sold a ring for over $100 turned out to be mass produced and $18 on eBay. Had a ‘mineral’ labeled ‘pyrite and Morganite’… it was silicone carbide and not even CLOSE to being worth the $90 they sold it to me for. I went back later and he did let me exchange the cheap ring out for two other pieces I was happier with but heard them whisper ‘they are going to be a problem’ right when I walked back into the store. I knew it’s all sales are final but I thought I would ask if I could exchange since it was such a rip off. Didn’t expect to have such a defensive, aggressive, rude response re-entering the store. Either this happens a lot or they knew they were scamming people. I ate it on the mineral because it is pretty and I should have...
