Went for breakfast on March 9th, the atmosphere was great, and the food was AMAZING and tasted so, so good. Overall, we were so happy and satisfied with the more than happy to give this place high reviews. The only negative side to this story was that the waitress who served us did not seem happy that we chose to eat there. She barely greeted us and even asked about the specials. She simply pointed to the whiteboard and told us they were listed on the board and then walked away. When taking out order, she seemed to have an attitude and acted like she did not want to be there. Not one did she come by to check if we needed a refill of coffee or how the meal was. In fact, she did not bother to come by until we flagged down another waitress to get our coffee refill. She did not thank us when we paid for our meal despite getting a $25 tip. Despite all this we would recommend this restaurant for a great atmosphere and wonderful food. We do plan to give this place a second chance on our next trip back.

The Main Cafe is a good classic diner-style restaurant in downtown Stillwater serving up breakfast and lunch dishes. My partner and I visited on a Sunday around 11 and had no trouble finding a seat. The atmosphere, service, and food were all solid. Our server was nice and brought us coffee refills promptly. Their menu is large with lots of classics so it's definitely a good stop if you're hoping to satisfy a picky eater. Atmosphere-wise, I like the murals they have painted on either end of the restaurant. Overall, while I wasn't totally blown away by any one thing, I thought everything was pretty good and I left full. This restaurant is definitely worth a stop, especially if you're looking for a breakfast to scratch that nostalgic itch for classic diner food.

S-L-O-W so don’t visit if you’re in a hurry. We had no problems finding a table so I didn’t think it was considered busy. We waited 45 minutes for two omelettes. Hashbrowns were bland; one order was barely browned. Standard breakfast fare with only diner coffee & machine dispensed French vanilla “cappuccino” available. Super cute little old building on the main drag so location is a plus. Staff were friendly. Plenty of waitresses, so I think the hold up was in the kitchen.

We stopped at Main Cafe for a quick bite to eat because we wanted to try a new place and they didn't seem terribly busy. We walked in and the waitress told us to sit wherever. We walked in behind another couple, who sat at the table right next to us. It took about 5 minutes for someone to bring us some menus. The couple sitting next to us received menus right away. We gave the waitress the benefit of the doubt, thinking she was busy. She took the order of the couple sitting next to us and then brough us our menus. She came back about 10 minutes later to take our order...after she had brought the couple next to us their food. She then took our order and about 10-15 minutes later our food came. We didn't have silverware and assumed she was going to get some. We waited for a couple minutes before getting up to find someone to get us silverware. We were given ONE set of silverware. Seriously? This was getting ridiculous. We finally got another set of silverware. This whole time, our waitress has not come back. She did not check on us the entire time we were eating. I didn't get a glass of water until I was just about finished with my meal. We asked for our check and it took her another ten minutes to bring us our check. When we finally got the check, we have the waitress our card right away, to avoid waiting such a long time. It took her another ten minutes to bring us the card back. We were so frustrated with the horrible service that we will not be coming back here. The food was delicious, but the service was just...

Service as usual was prompt and food came out quickly. I am a big fan of their various omelets, but their other menu items and specials are really good as well.

I read the one star review due to a near close arrival and not being served as well as comments about not having people that are willing to work. I can tell you when I have been there during their morning rush, the waitstaff do an excellent job keeping all the customers satisfied as they move constantly. I have never had to wait long, nor has my order ever been messed up.

The owner is a really good guy and he treats the employees very well. He also is at the cafe every day of the year making the meals.

As a former service worker and now customer I have seen both sides of arriving next to closing time. I personally do what ever I can to not arrive within 30 minutes of closing unless I know I can be out of the restaurant by closing time. There are many tasks that have to be delayed until all customers leave. So sitting at a table 30-40 minutes beyond closing delays employees from getting home. Better tip staff well if you are there after closing.

Overall, The Main Cafe is one of many great Main Street restaurants in downtown Stillwater. I highly recommend a visit, especially for...

The food tasted great and portion size for the meaty omelette was huge- one downside that occurred as a result of me visiting here was that I ended up getting food poisoning, all sick and coming out both ends the same day in the evening ironically 8 hours after having this meal…. Unfortunately this was my first time dining in here and I’m scared to return let alone be open to trying other new things from the menu

I am weak and have been unable to work for the last couple of days due to dehydration and fatigue/nausea

Please make sure your food is properly temped prior to eating and/or that eggs or other poultry are handled safely and not sitting out for an extended period of time.. if you have any doubts about your food being prepped properly make sure your food is STEAMING HOT (internal temp) because I know I didn’t think twice to check or ask them to remake my food, because their food looked so amazing and presentable to begin with! Note to other consumers it does not hurt to ask the restaurant to remake your food if it is a concern to your safety and wellbeing because if you are paying for good quality food, you should in every right get exactly what...
