I am just going to say I only goto this gym out of convenience due to it being close to my job and where I live. Especially after the main kent gym closed down this is what I have to resort to. The staff here is usually nice although I tend to go at night because of my schedule. The usual night staff including Jamal and 2 other guys (That I have not gotten the names of) are a super friendly and kind staff who have even helped me when I couldnāt find equipment and when I locked my things in my locker when I lost my keys. They are always very professional. However this new staff that I usually see on the weekends (fri-sun) have been the most rude workers I have ever met. The one new girl with glasses is really nice but recently this past sunday on 6/8/25 I had a particularly interesting encounter with one of the new female workers. I did not get her name but I have never seen her before and she was wearing a messy high bun. I will find out her name next time I see her because I think that management needs to have a talk with her on customer service and how to handle situations with a more dignified, hospitable manner. I knew the gym was closing soon but I was just finishing up one last set on the cable cord machines. When one of the female workers came up to me in a rude tone of voice screaming at me to get off the machine telling me impertinently that they are closed. It was 7:58 pm & I was just going to do one more set of ten cable glute kickbacks (which obviously would take ten seconds) but she kept incessantly telling me to get off the machine. If I am not mistaken the gym does not close on the weekends until 8 pm. I still had two more minutes before the gym legally closes. I would understand if it was after 8 but she stood there until I unhooked my machine at 7:58 pm⦠Meanwhile there were multiple men still on treadmills running which she did not seem to give the same attention to. Usually the tukwila gym staff are super kind and helpful. They kindly tell me if the gym is closed or if there are issues with equipment. I donāt appreciate this lack of hospitality from staff when me and my family pay over $90 every month on our memberships. We have been La fitness members since 2019, and have held gym memberships at locations all around the country and this is the only ghetto location I have ever been to. Not even the la fitness in Atlanta was like this. I might have to find another location or change gyms because I do not want to be in this ghetto atmosphere. To top all of this off the gym always smells and the equipment is always broken and rarely updated or replaced. I understand the cleaning staff works very hard and they are also very kind to me and my sister when we are there, as they always smile or wave to us. But perhaps there needs to be a female worker who can help freshen up the womens locker rooms and change out the paper towels in the night shift. Thatās all I have to say and I hate to leave this negative review but it needed to be said because I am sick of experiencing this with the new staff...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI used to have a membership here. The very first time I went, I got some kind of fungus infection from walking barefoot in the locker room. That was on me. Learned my lesson. The place was packed and nobody cleaned the equipment, wet sweat on everything and smelled bad. The hot tub was lukewarm at best. I take warm showers, not even hot, and it was not as hot as my shower. The staff refused to give me a tour on my first visit and when I asked where the men's locker room was, the girl at the front rolled her eyes and just nodded her head back over her shoulder in the general direction. The pool and hot tub have many cracks around the edges, so be careful not to cut yourself on the faulty parts. The manager will not repair items because it takes away from their bonuses. I got a call from the manager a bit after my cancellation, and asked why I left and what they could do to get me back. I told him about the staff, and he acknowledged that he knew they were a problem. Then promised to call me back the following month when a new promotion came around so he could offer me a discount to get me to try them again. He never called back. If you can't trust the manager to keep his word, how could I ever expect the staff to uphold good standards? I've been to multiple LA Fitness locations, and this Tukwila location is the first one I've ever just absolutely hated. I will never return to this location, and strongly suggest you make the 8 minute drive to the one in Burien. It's not great either, water heater is out for weeks and won't repair for the same manager bonus reason. But that just means cold showers for a while. The rest is tolerable.
Notice how the owner says thank you to all 5 star reviews, and ignores every negative review? Because they refuse to acknowledge the condition of the gym and will continue to do so until you guys stop paying him money for that run down sweat shop. Find a new gym for 2 months, and I promise you they will fix the stuff or sell the place to someone who actually cares about the members! BTW, they even had a death in the gym last year.. wonder when the heat stroke will take the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdated: Locker room security is a big issue. I've never had my gym locker broken into, ever. Different gyms in my life (Crunch, Golds, etc.)...until this location. With a mall right next to the location, you could be in for a painful (financial) awakening if you get victimized (I was).
Again, people are people, so I can't blame the gym. However, that doesn't really change the overall "experience" if you work out at this location.
I no longer do.
Advice: don't bring any valuables in - doesn't matter if you have padlocks - even if you have a "big" lock, thieves will go for the latch itself (yep that's not a typo).
It's got free weights, machines, "classrooms" for bike/aero/dance, sauna, pool, lockers, showers, so by that measure it's got the works.
I personally don't get the lack of towel service, it's a gym after all, and humans do sweat. Not looking for it to be free, just have it (option). It's available at signature locations after all (again, I know the difference, and not looking for a freebie).
I think the frequency of locker/rest/bath rooms maintenance should follow membership traffic - eg. more frequently at peak times.
More to do with members but since people are people, ensuring weights are in racks instead of sitting "somewhere" in the gym is probably a great idea (gym floor maintenance). It's a high traffic gym at peaks, so things can get pretty frustrating looking for a pair of dumbbells.
All that said it is what it is, maybe I'm looking for a club š
Ample free parking. Lots of options to recharge or completely regaining all the calories burned in restaurants in...
