Visited Midori Spa on a walk-in basis and it was full for a 90min foot massage for 2. So do make your reservations beforehand.
SERVICE: We were showed to a common area for foot massage after an hour. The massage starts with a hand rub. As usual, it takes a while for the masseuse to establish a strength that’s suitable for you but once it’s comfortable, it rarely changes. My massage was really uncomfortable, with his strength fluctuating constantly.
I fell asleep eventually as it had been a long day and was subsequently woken up after the masseuse moved on to my right foot. At this point, he was literally just “applying” the oil on my foot with almost no strength exerted. He must have thought that I’ve fallen into a deep sleep and won’t be waking up any time soon. Furthermore, he was using his phone (not all masseuses are blind/visually impaired there) while “applying” the oil. I was simply appalled.
At the end of the foot massage, you’ll also enjoy a short 5min neck/back rub. My partner had informed his masseuse beforehand about his back injury which he nodded but clearly did not understand as he went on to “massage” his back with his FEET oh god it was truly awful.
AMBIENCE (pictured): Besides the absolutely unenjoyable massage, we were placed in a room where they had all their sinks/buckets/shelves. It was like sitting in a janitor’s closet. For the whole 90min we were inside, we were constantly bothered by loud noises from the sink, people walking in and out and loud chitchats by the staff.
HYGIENE: As usual, the massage starts with a foot soak. You’d be required to put your feet in an UNLINED wooden bucket for a couple of minutes while they give you a hand rub. After removing your feet, they’d just pour the water away in the sink 2m away and simply rinse it w water and chuck it below, awaiting the next user. Considering how long Midori Spa has been established, I’m pretty sure that ain’t a good idea.
We visited Midori Spa based on reviews but was utterly disappointed. It’s the first time I’ve left a massage parlour without feeling more relaxed physically and just simply vexing mentally.
For the price that you’d paid in Midori Spa, you could easily get a better massage...
Read moreI brought my friend to this spa because of the star rating and reviews. It was my first visit and I ordered a 1.5hr Vietnamese massage while my friend ordered a 1.5hr Thai massage. We were given a form to fill out to indicate where we would like focus to be placed on and given my lower back was sore, I checked other, wrote lower back and crossed off the head because I never liked having my head massaged. Both of us did not realize the masseuses were visually impaired until we saw them but we were excited for the experience as none of the previous 5 cities we visited had such therapists (it made sense that they may very well be better than someone who is not visually impaired).
The massage started and a quarter way through had me realize the masseuse may not have read my form because she spent a lot of time on my shoulders but did not touch my lower back. One of her nails also intermittently dug into my skin which was a bit of a pinch but tolerable so I didn't say anything. One hour into the massage and my lower back still wasn't touched and I suspected she would not as she moved towards my leg. Another 15 minutes go by and she moved towards my head and that was when I told her I didn't want that and I asked for my lower back to be worked on. She couldn't really see so I moved her hands to my lower back and she started working on it for the last bit What i noticed was that she didn't seem to be doing the things other therapists have done (or my physio back home) so I let her finish then got out.
I naturally told the ladies outside that it appears the form was never given to her or someone who would be able to read it has told her. They were apologetic and gave me a 10% off for the next visit. I doubt I would be going back and I can't say this one visit is a fair assessment of the spa so my advice is to let them know as soon as you feel what you asked for is not known by the therapist.
For what it is worth, my friend said his Thai...
Read moreFrom the moment I stepped into Midori Spa, I was greeted with a warmth that instantly made me feel at ease. The receptionist, with his hospitable demeanor and genuine smile, was a refreshing change from the usual experiences in bustling spas. It felt like a piece of home in an unexpected place.
Although the prices at Midori Spa are roughly 10% higher than surrounding options, the value far exceeds the extra cost. One of the most commendable aspects is their no-pressure approach; there's no pestering for tips, allowing you to relax and enjoy your experience fully.
Their Midori special massage is a must-try. It's clear that the therapists are highly skilled and dedicated to their craft, ensuring a top-notch and rejuvenating experience. Additionally, their foot massage service, offered by differently-abled individuals, is exceptional, and a fantastic service to the society as a whole(Great job you guys, I really hope you guys do well and expand your spas). The therapist who attended to me was not only skillful but also exhibited a level of dedication and care that was truly admirable.
