We had dinner here a couple of months ago and sad to say, it was disappointing 😌. Service was friendly, drinks arrived quickly but the positives ended there. There was little care when it came to seasoning. Where it wasn't lacking, it was too salty. Food was average and not worth the price tag. One of the dishes ordered was forgotten, delivered 30 mins after everyone else's and arrived cold. Like, how?!
We had bruschetta and pizza to share, both were underwhelming. Although bruschetta bread was nice and crusty, tomato pieces were flavourless and the tiny dollop of stracciatella didn't help much. Suprema pizza had a decent amount of olives and charred capsicum but not much else to rave about, and that's not good considering it was a meat-forward pizza 😕.
S's spaghetti all'amatriciana was lacklustre, tasted okay at first but got too salty towards the end. E's pasta was cooked al dente but tasted bland. The only thing prominent was chilli, and the clams weren't the most impressive. My grilled octopus wasn't anything special, romesco sauce didn't do much to the chewy octopus and salad especially looked sad. I get "simple" is in their name but didn't expect food to be thattt sort of simple ☹️.
Now came T's chicken parmigiana, just as everyone was finishing up their meals. When we noticed it didn't come out at the same time as everyone else's, we brought it to the waitress' attention, specifically asked if they'd forgotten. She denied it and said the kitchen was still preparing it. Hmm sure 😬. So when it came out 30 mins later, you'd expect it to be hot right? Well, the chips were hot and crunchy but the chicken was cold. It was as if they'd left the plate sitting there for half an hour and just quickly replaced the cold chips. Or perhaps it was left out during the ordering process, kitchen somehow managed to whip up a new plate but that couldn't explain how the chicken was cold. Ah well, that now forever remains an unsolved mystery 🤷♀️. We sent it back and got it taken off our bill.
The place unfortunately did not hit a single mark for us. Perhaps just a bad night for them, but left bad enough tastes in our mouths...
Read moreHorrible experience. I have been here many times before and never had an issue but when it came to booking for a special occasion a Birthday it was a major let down. I have no plans to return to this restaurant after this horrible experience. I had booked a table for 2 and we were shown to a table adjoined to another party of two men and it was completely unacceptable as it provided no privacy. We asked the waiter if this was the correct table and he said yes. I asked if we can have an alternative table and he said the tables of two are reserved. No explanation was provided when I asked why we did not get one of those tables as I had a reservation. Do not book if you have a special ocasion as you will be let down with the service and tables provided. Luckily got a table at Italian Street Kitchen down the road and it was 100 percent better in accomodating a table last minute due to Simple being a complete let down.
Hi there,
Thanks for your reply but it does not rectify the horrible experience.
I do not believe there was appropriate action taken on the night to ensure privacy. We should not of been put on an adjoined table with two other guys. It made us very uncomfortable. I don't think anyone would be happy with this....none of the other tables were adjoined.
I realise it is busy on weekends however I don't think the waiter would of asked party of three multiple times if there was not some error in your system as we only booked for two.
I would not recommend this restaurant for special occasions or to friends and family after this experience. It was a highly embarrassing experience and very upsetting that it even happened as it could of been completely avoided if the tables were moved prior to...

Went there on a Sunday for a date. Made a reservation and reached there quite early, but didn’t get a table because people were lining to get in and the place was stuffed. Always a good sign when people are fighting to eat at a restaurant. Since we were about 40 mins early (our mistake, obviously), we roamed around for a bit, had a few drinks and came back at our reserved time slot. The place was still full and vibrant, so for ambience, a solid 4/5
We were shown to our table promptly and we didn’t take too long to order either. However, the food took a good 45 mins to arrive and when it did, all of it arrived at once, which wasn’t a great experience. Our table was cramped with food, and some of our food was inevitably getting cold.
We expected far better from a place of such reputation and experience. For service, unfortunately a 2/5
Now food:
Antipasti we ordered the garlic focaccia with mortadella: I make focaccias very often, and while this one wasn’t your conventional focaccia which is fluffy and airy, it was quite delicious. The garlic really came through beautifully on the fresh, beautifully baked bread. 4/5
Diavola pizza: Average. The base was doughy (the edge) as opposed to the expected airy and light. The flavours weren’t too impressive either. A let down. 2.5/5
Ravioli of the day: Also quite substandard. 2/5
The bottle of Chianti, however, kept us company and helped us through a dinner we could only describe as...
