Read moreOrdered the burger special. The bar staff girl took my order. I sat down and started chatting to mates.
Five minutes later they come over and start saying I'm not allowed to order the special because it's Friday.
That is fair enough to say that as I'm ordering at the bar but if you've already mistakenly taken my order and I've already paid then you should accept your staff made the mistake in accepting my order and not make me come back to the bar to re-order. Just make the order and wear the mistake.
So I got to the bar and the bar manager girl has now come over to take my order. She snarkily takes my order as though I'm inconveniencing her (ironic) and this was my fault for not reading the fine print on their menu and not the fact she has failed to train her bar staff correctly to stop people ordering specials on Friday. So in the end I now have to pay $6 or $8 extra for the exact same meal.
The place was dead AF anyway, so charging extra on Friday seems illogical. They should be running the special permanently until they start filling a lot more tables up on Fridays.
The burger tasted good but it was small, not "Generous" at all. I know smash burgers are meant to be flattened and I make then like that at home, however I think there may not have been even 80 grams of mince used.
If I'm paying over $30+ for a burger and beer I expect more than a kid's sized burger and fries especially if it isn't on special. Two 80gr patties would be more like it.
I probably would have ignored the burger whinge if the service didn't rub me...
Read moreOverall I think Generous Squire is a good place to go for drinks, however this review is for their Hungry Clucker Wednesdays.
7 of us went here for a small work lunch today (December 18th) - I wouldn't have said it was very busy. We were able to sit at our reserved table straight away and we were greeted quickly to explain how their bottomless wings works. This included an explanation to say that we would receive table service for food but needed to go to the bar if we wanted drinks - fair enough.
First up is a bowl of chips (nice) and a bowl of coleslaw (not nice, barely any dressing) per person, then after about 10-15 minutes, they brought out a sampler tray of wings per person (lots of wings!) and a tray of sauces to share. As expected, the buffalo wings packed the most punch, unfortunately the others were very mild/bland.
When we were ready to order more wings, there was no one to be found. From the time we were ready to order more, it took around 20-30 minutes for someone to come back to our table to take an order. Some of us then ordered some more buffalo wings. We were expecting another tray of wings, when we were given ... 3 wings each in a bowl.
That's all we had time for - definitely not bottomless. As for the taste of the wings, they all tasted like they were fried (as if they were done in an air fryer) and not all that nice. The fresh wings (bowl of 3) were definitely better than the big lot on the tray.
We won't be back...
