Arrived an hour after check-in. A $250 deposit was taken from my debit, which I was told I'd recieve back within a few days (Note: The DoubleTree Niagara only takes a $100 deposit fee for an even better room). The rooms usually cost $80 a night, however we stayed for New Years Eve so the price was a ridiculous $300. For the price we paid you'd think the hotel would be spotless and the rooms would be in a fair condition. The receptionist at the front desk told us in a serious tone that "Tonight is the only night we get business". As my girlfriend and I entered our Jacuzzi Suite, we noticed dirty floors. We inspected the bedroom only to find hairs on our bedsheets. 3 pillows, one missing a pillow case. My girlfriend looked in the bathroom and found the garbage bin full of used toilet paper, and one that had something resembling fecal matter on it. The toilet seat had pee all around it. There were toe nail trimmings in the drawers of the desk. All of the towels had a few blonde hairs on them, along with strange brown ish stains (make up i hope). I called the front desk to notify them and they placed me on a 10 minute hold. I hung up and went to the lobby, and the receptionist informed me that she forgot I was on the line. Nobody was in the lobby other than her. We notified her of the issues in our room and asked if it could be cleaned, as well as if we could recieve some form of discount as we had to cancel our dinner reservations to let the cleaner do his thing. The receptionist told me no discount would be given, nor would she try to reiumburse us in any fashion. Once he finished cleaning, we returned only to find that although he changed the covers, the bed sheet was completely missing now. The towels were replaced however the new ones still had stains on them.
The only good thing about this hotel is that you're within a 3 minute walk to the OPP station just in case the crazy people in the area bother you.
Edit: the below response is more than enough evidence as to what kind of staff works at this place. As someone who's father owns an international tour company, who has stayed in many many hotels and motels, I can confirm this is not a place for kids, or for those who care about cleanliness. The staff has proven to be dishonest. We checked in at 4PM and made a complain 10 minutes after inspection our room. Not 2 hours. Completely pathetic. Thank you for showing your poor...
Read moreHi. Listen, this was a cheaper motel, about 12 minute walk to Clifton Hills touristy area. It isn't going to be the equivalent to one of those $200 or $300 a night hotels right on the falls, get that out of your mind right now. HOWEVER, I've seen some people say it is in a "sketchy" part of town. I don't feel like the area is sketchy at all, although, there might be some locals that do stay there that aren't typical out of towners. I never felt unsafe at all, period. The rooms are slightly dated, and are clean for the most part. Again, this isn't the Fallsview Marriot, you won't get that type of room/environment for the much cheaper cost. HOWEVER, the room we stayed in was a one king bed room with a hot tub. It was clean, and nice. We always bring sanitization wipes and give it a quick wipe down if we see fit. The TV was a bit smaller, and the wifi service cut out twice in 3 days. I called the front desk, they had to refresh their router. I am tech savvy and knew that is what needed to be done, and by the sounds of it, the front desk knew that as well. This happens very occasionally at my home as well. It was fixed very quickly. Went in the hot tub twice, never felt dirty at all. It was quite relaxing. The bed was very comfortable. We never made it to breakfast, as we went out to local diners for that. The shower was a nice large shower. The bathroom itself wasn't that big, but was everything we needed. There was not a closet, but there were 2 dressers, and there was a closet rod with 3 or 4 hangers in the corner of the bedroom to hang any clothes. There were a few things: there was a small crack in ceiling in bedroom, it looked like they repaired it with drywall spackle, they just never smoothed it out, so the crack was covered, but not finished. There were a few wall anchors in wall. It seems that they took off some older paintings and artwork, whatever, but never pulled out the anchors. Other than that, it was acceptable for a quick weekend getaway. I would go there again. I have seen people complain about this place, maybe the room with the hot tub and king bed was taken better care of? I don't know. We were happy. Again, don't expect the Ritz... for the price, we...
Read moreNobody ever does an average review. It's always the horror stories. It's not a 5 star hotel but for the price and location it was alright. I'd give it an "OK" at best. Don't expect to be wowed.
We arrived early (6am) to check the place out before heading out to do something we needed to do anyway. We asked when we would be able to check in and were told 3pm which seemed a bit late too me but it didn't matter since we weren't going to be back until then anyway. Besides, we could just spend our time around Clifton Hill if we got back early.
Thermostat was easy to use and worked which was good because it was about 40-50F when we got there. Nice digital readout.
Paid $50 a night on memorial day weekend. The room was larger than expected. Two Queen/Twin beds (they were comfortable sleeping two each). The sheets seemed clean enough and the beds were made. Later we sort of messed with the sheets and it seemed like they might have put a clean one over. The one below wasn't dirty but it had small things around it about 1/4 - 1/2 size of a rice grain. They weren't bugs but it made us uneasy.
TV's are kind of old but you're able to watch if you want. You're minutes away from Niagara Falls, why are you staying in your hotel room watching TV anyway?
Bathroom was an average bathroom. Sink took a while to get hot water going. Shower was a bit quicker so that was good. We were given one small bar of soap and one small "facial moisturizing soap" but used both of them as soap. There were three kind of small towels and three washcloths.
We stayed for two nights but did not get our room cleaned or get extra soap/towels. We did sleep past noon the first night though. Maybe we needed to ask them to clean after we left? There were only two of us so it didn't bother us.
There is a pool but it was too cold to swim the days we were there so I can't say...
