I came here on a Thursday evening with my family for dinner. It was pretty quiet at that time so we were seated fairly quickly. There was a lot of pop music playing in the background which felt more of a club than a restaurant. I had high expectations with their food quality since it was quite pricey. We ordered the following:
Bread with Butter 🥖 The bread came for free and you can request for more when finished. It came in a tray that was holding butter. The bread itself was alright and it could of been more softer. The perfect bread would had been straight out from the oven so that the butter would melt when placed inside.
Bloomin' Onion 🧅 It seems like this aussietizers dish was ordered by many people so we gave this a try. Their special onion is hand-carved, cooked until golden and ready to dip into their spicy signature bloom sauce.
The onions were super crispy and filled with deliciousness when paired with their signature bloom sauce. For every bite you take keeps you craving for more. I recommend giving this a try and would give this dish a 🔥.
Caesar Side Salad 🥗 The portion size was smaller than expected. I wish that they had more croutons in the salad. There was nothing special with this particular side dish so I would not recommend getting this as a standalone.
Steakhouse Pasta 🍝 This dish had a lightly seasoned portions of steak combined with sliced mushrooms, diced green onion and tomatoes gently tossed with fettuccine in a rich demi-glace sauce.
Everything taste good except for their steak. It was chunky and had a chewy texture. You would have to chew more than usual before your next bite. There was no unpleasant taste in any way. However, I would say that it was not worth it for the price it was listed at for $39.
Sirloin and Baby Back Ribs 🥩 The description says "These fall-off-the-bone ribs are exactly the way ribs should be. Succulent and saucy, each rack is smoked, grilled to perfection and brushed in a tangy BBQ sauce. Served with Aussie fries and coleslaw."
I have to 💯% disagree that these were not fall off the bone ribs. All of their ribs were stuck to the bone. It was dry and juiceless and that was the same with their sirloin (no seasoning). I was very disappointed with the quality of the food as it was super pricey at $50.
I had a better appetite in eating the mash potatoes and coleslaw instead. I would give this dish a not worth it 👎.
Overall, their staff and service were relatively friendly and alright. The food came in a timely manner but the food was overpriced and mediocre.
In addition, be prepared to pay for NFDF (Niagara Falls Destination Fee) on the bill. An 18% gratuity will be added to tables of 6 or more. I would recommend going elsewhere to dine in for a...
Read moreWent with a couple of my friends hoping to have a drink for a happy hour but there was no such thing there as we were told by Alexa our very friendly server. My one friend ordered a $10 glass of wine for the 5 oz which is outrageous! I had an unsweetened iced tea. We just wanted to have the Bloomin Onion as we had plans to go elsewhere for dinner but we all just wanted to check out the menu and the place as it's been years since we went to an Outback in Canada. The blooming onion was always one of our favorite appetizers to have when they used to have their location in Oakville and Mississauga. Well it might have been good but there were two things very wrong with it! The onion had not been prepped and cleaned properly prior to putting the seasoned flour on it. If you took the deep fried onion from the outer layers the onion itself was very dry like paper. The onions toward the center were okay because they were fresh and not the outer peel. The second thing wrong with it was the price $15.99 for an onion? Are you kidding me?? I can buy many bags of onions for that price at the grocery store. The dip served with it is very good. And to top it all off make sure you look at your receipt first because they charge you the Niagara Falls tourist fee NFDF. It is a city fee tax which you can refuse to pay. Alexa did not take offense when I asked her to remove it from the bill . She was very accommodating . As if tourists don't have enough to pay by renting cars and reserving hotels and all the other costs associated with a holiday. I'm not even a tourist anymore and live locally and was so glad I looked at the bill for this. I have yet to see this fee added on receipts at other restaurants but considering we had an onion iced tea and a glass of wine and it came to $38, once the fee was taken off the bill, it was $35! Way too much money for what we had. Ask to look at a menu BEFORE you sit down! We will not be back, we will stick to the Outback in Florida. We did check out the menu it is very attractive, however the prices are the complete opposite. If I'm going to have a steak I'll go to The Keg Fallsview where at least I get a view. Thank you to Alexa for being the best part about...
Read moreWANNABE HEALTHY SIDE DISH CONNOISSEUR This review is from a delivery perspective, not a dine-in one. Also, not looking for best meal ever but from a - "Does this restaurant offer affordable, reasonably healthy Side Dish options, as I am on a very limited budget with a ton of food sensitivities?"
So, today I decided to try Outback Steakhouse for two reasons: Steak, if done properly, has little to no additives. I love mashed potatoes, also if done properly.
Now, the Side Dish section did not offer steak in any form, and as my budget does not allow me to order a full size meal, nor does my appetite, I ordered off the Kids menu.
They have a Kid's Steak that comes with one side dish. So I ordered the Steak medium well done with a side of Mashed Potatoes. Unfortunately, they did not have gravy so I ordered their Grilled Onions instead.
For the most part my thoughts on the meal are positive, with one hesitation.
The steak was tasty, with a slight pink centre (as requested), but it was quite difficult to cut and was quite chewy. Now, that may be due to their target audience for this meal being kids. (They don't usually have quite the discerning palette an adult would have.)
The mashed potatoes were some of the best I've had from takeout. No doubt they were real.
The onions were also tasty, and perfectly cooked.
Now, from a healthy perspective, the steak and mashed potatoes are probably on the medium to high side of healthy options, but I really love my mashed potatoes.
But they also offer Baked Potatoes and Grilled Fresh Vegetables, and the Mashed Potatoes on the Side Dish portion of the menu. All of these options are $5.99, so reasonably affordable.
Overall, based on taste, healthy value, and cost, the options I've mentioned are quite good.
Please keep in mind that I am not able to provide a calorie, cholesterol or sodium content amount, but compared to fast food options, usually involving fried food and high sodium content, these are at least somewhat...
