I was actually just visiting this place for about 30 minutes, I waited in the loung area for my friends who had checked out that day after staying one night. Once they arrived we sat there and the owner (I think) came and said you've checked out you need to leave now, the lounge area is for current residents (It was empty). Read moreHostel Polanco is a cozy, pleasant backpacker's hostel and one of the cheapest places to stay in Cerro Alegre, the bohemian district in Valparaiso. It's on a street near some of the cutest cafes in the area and just up the hill are some to-die-for views of the city. Karina, the woman who takes care of the hostel, is sweet and accommodating and really made my stay wonderful. It's 6,000 Chilean pesos a night for a bed in one of the dorm style rooms, or about $12 -- the cheapest you'll probably find in Valpo. Definitely recommend it and hope others will find their stays...
