My wife and I stayed at Pension Athanor for 4 nights in April, 2019 in the Apartment With Sauna. The best aspects of our stay are the quiet location away from the tourist traffic and the large, roomy apartment. ||||Pension Athanor is located in a quiet part of town, a 5 minute walk across the Vltava River to the main town square. We had to walk an enjoyable, scenic, roundabout detour that went through a beautiful park and past a Jewish synagogue due to the closing of the stairs to the bridge because of construction. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Cesky Krumlov.||||Pros:||- Large, quiet apartment with 3 separate rooms for bedroom, kitchen/dining area, and bathroom/sauna.||- Quiet part of town away from the many big-bus tourist groups||- Short, normally 5 minute walk (without construction) down stairs and across bridge to main square.||- Very friendly ladies at reception desk and breakfast.||- On-site, enclosed parking for at least 3 cars||- Good enough Wi-Fi speed: 22 Mbps download / 1.5 Mbps upload||||Cons:||- Construction on street directly behind hotel. Caused Wi-Fi outage the first day, some morning noise, and closure of stairs directly to town square.||- No one at the reception in the afternoon or evening.||- Breakfast buffet is pretty basic with choice of eggs cooked to your liking.||||Tips:||- Take the informative Wiseman Free Walking Tour (in English) at 10:30am. Look for the red umbrella in front of the Tourist Information Office at main square.||- Many big-bus tours overrun central Cesky Krumlov during the middle of the day. Get an early start before the big buses arrive from Prague starting...
Read moreRecommended. Very quiet neighborhood located just across a bridge from the Old Town. Views of the Round Tower, Old Town steeples and rooftops. From the Pension, a short walk to the stairs (100 steps) leading to the bridge. Excellent staff, just wonderful. On check-in day, staff reached out to confirm arrival and, pretty much, met us at the door to guide us to a parking space. We stayed two nights in this very attractive 1-bedroom apartment w/sauna. Plenty of room for two travelers, stated size is 45m². Very clean. Large bedroom with desk and 2 chairs. Bed and pillows very comfortable. The bathroom is large with ample counter space, large shower stall and a beautiful sauna (didn't get to use). The commode is located in separate water closet. The entry and roomy kitchen areas separate the bedroom and bathroom. Kitchen table has 3 chairs. No sofa or cushy chairs. Wi-Fi was generally good but spotty in some areas. Power plugs were adequate for charging devices. Kitchen nicely equipped with utensils, toaster, coffee maker, electric water kettle, small fridge (stocked with beverages for purchase), 4-burner induction cooktop. SDB. We were able to park on-site. Payment terms: Paid...
Read moreThis apartment is in a very old building that has been beautifully renovated. Firstly, finding this place in the dark can be a challenge so review all the pictures of the entrance if you are driving here to find their courtyard parking. The area is located in a maze of cobble stone small streets. There is a lock box with a key for entry outside of daytime hours but they communicate very well with you up until your arrival and you can request help if needed. The rooms vary in shape and size etc. Our spacious room had two levels, one with a nice TV area and a couch, then down four stairs to the beds and the washroom. The breakfast buffet offerings in the morning were smallish but very good quality and more than sufficient. They will make eggs and meat to order. The staff are excellent and it feels like a small family run business so they definitely try to please their guests. There were a few small restaurants within a 10 min walk and there are more if you walked across the bridge into the tourist area of the main town. The town is historic and...
