Don’t stay here as a solo female traveller. I showed up to the hostel and there was an older man who was giving me creepy vibes in my dorm. I noticed that there were only 2 other people in the mixed 6 person dorm. I texted the accomodation to ask whether the other person was a male or female as I was feeling uncomfortable. They didn’t reply so I messaged again to which they replied that I would have 2 other people in my room, refusing to tell me the gender of the other individual. I ended up waiting for a few hours to see who the other person was (it ended up being another older gentleman). I walked into the dorm room and had 2 men lying on their beds watching me (there are no curtains) move around the room. I contemplated sleeping on a chair in the kitchen but wasn’t sure whether this would be any safer. I called the accomodation and asked if I could move rooms they said no and that I would have to find another accommodation somewhere else for the night and wouldn’t get a refund. I think this reflects poorly on the hostel as they don’t care about the safety of their guests, I had to wait a few hours to see that the other guest was a male and I still had to pay despite not using any of the facilities. Overall, a very bad experience so if you are a female traveller...
Read moreThe response to the review below is absolutely disrespectful, rude and untrue. Saying “SHAME ON YOU! you should be ashamed of your behaviour and dirty words” and calling her "sad and pathetic" to a girl who she felt unsafe sleeping in a room with 2 older men and the hostel did nothing about it. Shows the nature of the hostel that they are disrespectful towards women and I would never stay here.
Your response to my post was that she started "negative dialogue on our behalf and to make her feel like a victim" just shows how you invalidated her experience. As a female if I felt unsafe and took the courage to write about it, to then have my experience invalidated, call me names like "sad", "irresponsible" and "pathetic" and using "dirty words" reflects exactly why I wanted to comment in the first place and stick...
Read moreIt's a good hostel to spend the night. The staff is only one person who does everything (cleaning and reception), I guess that's why the prices are cheap. We had a bit of trouble because the person didn't speak English and it was hard to communicate when I made my reservation as well as everything else you want to talk about once you're there.||The shared room was small but ok as well as the bathrooms.||Since Cesky Krumlov is small you don't really need a lot of advice to get around and it's ok to stay at Merlin's since it's in the centre.||One more thing: You need strong nerves in order to drive a car in Cesky Krumlov! The streets are really tiny and crowded so if possible try to find another way...
