This pension in Cesky Krumlov was good value with exceptional accommodation/service. Not only was check in time very early (13:00), but our host, Franz (hope I heard/spelled correctly) allowed us to check in an hour early, and also allowed us to leave our luggage the following morning so we could explore the town until our bus departure time of 11:40 am.
Breakfast was included, continental, and high quality with fresh fruit and vegetables, good cheeses, boiled eggs, cold cuts, yogurt, a good assortment of breads and jams, and a hotel-style very decent coffee machine.
Room was very clean, good size, good wifi, duvets (our preference), very hot water available (careful!) With strong water pressure. It had a welcome bottle of mineral water, a refrigerator, desk and sufficient chairs and also a bench for our luggage. I.e. it had everything that we look for except soap and shampoo for the shower, but that seems to be a peculiarity of this part of Europe as it was the same for us in Prague (be forewarned!). Also this is a pension, not a luxury hotel so don't expect giant fluffy towels.
Location was perfect for us as we took a bus to Cesky Krumlov and the pension was a short cobblestoned walk away. At the same time it's location was excellent for access to both sides of the river.
We are in our 70's, middle income travellers who appreciate good value, service, and location. This hit all the right notes for us! Highly...
Read moreWe were driving past and made a spur of the moment decision to stop here.||Pros: Good sized room close 300m to city centre, fridge, good room lighting, out front parking, comparitively priced at K1400. A good breakfast is included with tomatoes and hard boiled eggs.||Cons: Dark stairwell after dark (no lift). No staff around after about 8pm. The owner placed a wheel clamp on my car parked out front in the hotel car park (see my photos). When I asked him about it at breakfast he became very defensive and informed me that it was standard practice, and that it would only be removed after breakfast. On further questioning he tells me it is done for “security reasons”, and that if you wanted to go out in the evening you could easily just walk into town. The mind boggles. I’m not sure but I think that in most countries this would be illegal. We avoided the wheel clamp on the second night by returning home late.||No desk or dresser in room, just 2 coffee tables and 2 arm chairs. ||No bench space in bathroom, wall heaters did not function||Fridge not working, broken shower head and hot water off during the day. No shelf in shower cubicle for soap or shampoo etc. It feels like maintenance here is starting to slip. It is run by a father/son team and generally lacks the...
Read moreGreat location, just a couple of hundred mtrs from the entrance to the old town.. Nice welcome by the friendly owner. The pension we had was in a lovely old house with lots of character, very spacious and spotlessly clean. The living room had a big comfy couch, a TV and a fridge. The bedroom was also large with an en-suite and large comfy bed with great pillows. Car parking is in an area off road in front of the house where there's room for about 4 cars but there's a sign pointing to a drive opposite labelled Pension Falko so we assumed there was more parking there when required. Breakfast is pretty basic and nothing special, and the coffee could do with being hotter.||||One of the downsides we experienced here - not a fault of the accommodation - is that during the night we had the windows open as it was quite warm and we kept getting a slight smell of drains waftng in. To be fair though we did encounter that in a few places whilst walking around Cesky itself, Apart from that, this is a lovely place to stay for a few days when visiting Cesky Krumlov, and it's location is ideal - far enough to be quiet away from the crowds but close enough to walk into town in a...
