My husband and I just returned from a 10-day trip to parts of Poland and the Czech Republic, and this is the only one of our accommodations I feel compelled to write a review about. Regrettably, it’s also the only one I can’t take credit for discovering myself. ||Jonny and Judita (and their sweet dog, Brutus) are exceptional hosts. Their 1st Republic Villa is a gorgeous home converted into a handful of sizable rooms featuring private, spacious bathrooms. Bookings include generous breakfasts prepared on demand with accompaniments of warm croissants and bread, bowls of yogurt with fresh fruit and an assortment of caffeinated beverages. We highly recommend the fruit and jam-topped, Czech-style pancakes, which we ordered twice and hope to somehow learn to concoct ourselves through online research. Guests may eat within the reception/communal dining space adjacent to the main building or, for a real treat, outside on a garden patio framed by twining wisteria vines. After eating our first breakfast, we decided to postpone our train reservation so as to make time for breakfast the next morning.||1st Republic Villa is located just above town in a quiet neighborhood. Reaching the narrow, cobblestone streets of shops and restaurants simply requires a five-minute walk past a small, co-op grocery store (by registering online, travelers may unlock the empty store and purchase what they like; there are no employees present). At the house, we slept with our windows open and no outside sounds woke us. ||In addition to their hospitality and exceptional cooking, we are grateful to Jonny and Judita for personally providing us with a ride to the train station. Although the route took less than 10 minutes by car, it saved us from once again dragging our wheeled luggage up and down some steep (and bumpy!) hills within the town. We didn’t know it when we arrived, but rides to and from the station are a complimentary service they provide...
Read moreTo begin with, we decided to extend our stay by an extra day. I called the hotel and was greeted by the owner/manager, she was friendly and was able to extend our stay. The hotel is conveniently located not too far from the old town. We had the top floor and had the castle view.
We arrived a bit early but the room was ready for us. One thing to note, the gates to the house is on the narrow side, so be careful driving in and a total of 6 parking spots.
Our room was very clean, and the bathroom has been renovated with modern amenities. The room itself is decorated to fit the historical house. Additionally, because it is a historical house, there are no elevators as they are not allowed to build them. However, it was not a hard walk up the stairs.
Their breakfast offers great selection to choose from, and team is amazing! All of the food are made to order and comes with a complimentary delicious yogurt mixed with fruits. Also, the WiFi is great, a big plus these days! I cannot recommend enough...
